another name for the 'rehearsal dinner'?
We're having an interfaith wedding (I'm Jewish, FH is Catholic), so we're not having a traditional 'rehearsal dinner' ....I have a huge family, and there's a ton of out of towners ... its probably going to be over 75 people! We want to have something the night before the wedding to celebrate ... with the speeches/roasts of me & FH, etc.
Question is: what would you CALL IT?
'Rehearsal Dinner' just doesn't make sense to us since there's no rehearsal and its so big.
We don't like 'Pre-Nuptial Dinner' because of the connotation of actually signing a pre-nup ...
All we can think of is 'Wedding Eve Dinner' ...
Any thoughts or ideas?

Re: another name for the 'rehearsal dinner'?
what about if you don't actually 'call it' anything...what if you say 'please join us for dinner on the eve of our wedding' or something like that?Or 'wedding weekend kick off dinner'?..or is that too tailgate-esque?

I think LaurenluvsTJ did the same thing and actually called it a 'Non-rehearsal Dinner'.

Haha! I think I might have called it that on here!
We didn't send invitations, we just told people. I think I called it a rehearal dinner anyway since thats what most people are familiar with.

I've seen it called a 'Wedding Warm-up dinner' which I thought was cute.

We did too. We had no rehearsal but requested everyone in the BP who was out of town to come in the night before in case of bad weather. It was putting people out for a great deal of money and we felt it was only right to host a dinner for the entire BP so everyone would know each other.

So far I think FH & I like 'Welcome Dinner' the most!Well actually he liked the tail-gate-esque one, he's a huge sports fan. But my mom would definitely NOT approve of that! hehe

'Jubilee'
'Joyous Jubilee' ( this is my favorite)
here is what jubilee means--
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ju·bi·lee (ju'b?-le', ju'b?-le')
n.
A specially celebrated anniversary, especially a 50th anniversary.
The celebration of such an anniversary.
A season or an occasion of joyful celebration.(this is why i love this word!!)
Jubilation; rejoicing.
tell us the final one you chose!

Re: another name for the 'rehearsal dinner'?
We called it an 'Pre-Wedding Appreciation Dinner' since everyone invited played an intregal part/role in our day! We used it as an opportunity to show everyone how thankful we were for them.Welcome New Vendors
