Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

I know, I know it depends on what church.

I've been calling around and I just feel like the fees are out astronomical.

So far the general concensus is about $1000 if you are a member ... $1500 if you are or haven't been a member for long.

It just seems like a lot to drop down before the 'expensive' stuff even begins!

So... if YOU got married in a Catholic church here on Long Island -- throw a girl a bone. LOL a cheap one!

Where and if you don't mind saying, what were the fees for getting married there?

Thanks so much.

they will NOT let a non-member get married there!!! They gave me a hard time bc I was not registered... we go every Sunday, we were both baptized there, both our parents got married there, FH g-parents got married there and my g-ma was member for over 50 years... and they gave me a hard time bc we werent registered.... we are now but it wasnt easy!!!!

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

Blessed Sacrament Church in V.S. - $600 (includes musician. So it's really 400 and 200 for organist).

I THINK they allow non-parishoners.

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

I believe mine is around $600 and includes everything. But my church is in the Bronx and so I don't think that would help you much. Also I think that $600 is for member so of the church.

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

I am not a member of my church. Unfortunately it is in Queens- Our Lady of Mercy, but it's $500 'donation' including the retainer for the organist (whether or not you use them) and my pre-cana came out to be $200. HTH!

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

I am getting married at St. William in Seaford. There's a $300 fee plus $225 for the organist and $25 for the sexton. They also recommend you give $20 to each of the altar servers. So approximately around $600.... Each church will be different of course..

ETA: I believe they charge $65 for pre-cana but FH and I cant use that precana and we're taking one thats going to cost us $200 b/c its only a fri night/saturday

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa is $725 for members, $900 if not. It breaks down like this: $25 foccus, $75 pre-cana, $375 church ($550 if not affiliated), and $250 music. Also, have to tip altar servers.

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

WOAH, I'm sure there are churches that go up to 1500, but that range can't be the average, that's crazy!

If you're totally set on a church for a reason, then it's worth it, but if you're just picking one because you want to get married in a church, then $1500 is def not necessary... neither is $1000.

We're paying $450 with altar servers and organist and then pre cana is additional. We're getting married in Brooklyn, but I know there are LI churches that are similar in 'suggested donation'.

Where on LI are you looking?

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

We are paying $500 for church, $250 for their music and $300 for pre-cana/foccus. Not sure what the church charges for pre-cana, but we are doing it through the diocese because we wanted to do it in one weekend. FM if you want info.

Re: Cost of getting married in Catholic Church?

St. Christophers in Baldwin costs $ 500.

Also, pre-cana is only $ 75 and is usually done 4 evenings for 1 month for about 2-3 hours each session (and is limited to 5 couples).
