Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

MY FI bought my ring from Zales. He also bought a warranty with it. I can resize it as many times as I want, get it cleaned and it protects me from missing stones.

I lost 20 pounds and my ring is falling off of me, I am scared I am going to lose it,

Zales said that it takes a week to resize the ring. A week? ARE THEY KIDDING ME?

I am not comfortable leaving it there for a week. or havign the jeweler take it out of the store.

So I thought I would go somehwere else and pay for it to get resized, but the warranty is void if they ever find out.

How would they though?????

What would you do?

Zales stinks!

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

When I got my FW her ring it took about a week to get it resized also. I know giving up your ring for that long is hard, but if you want to get it resized and keep the warranty its what you have to do.

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

It's not so much that I will be without it, I don't trust a jeweler to take my ring out of the store.

How do I know they won't swap out stones????

You have to be so careful these days!

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

Congratulations on losing 20 pounds!!

I would say to let Zales do it. A week isnt that long... considering.. if they have a way of marking things.. and they would find out you went elsewhere.. it would really be awful if something happened and they wouldnt cover it.
I wouldnt risk losing the insurance.

JMO..

Good luck!

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

When I went to get my E-ring inspected they had to take it for a week -(we brought my ring from Helzberg) After I got it back I went to another jeweler to make sure the diamond was still a diamond - I wouldn't worry

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

Zales is a huge corporation. They own Peircing Pegota and Baily Banks and Biddle. The reason that it takes a week is because they are a sales location and do not have jewlers on staff. They send your ring to a Jewler that is part of Zales and then ship it back to the store. I would not worry for a second about sending it to them (I worked for them all through college)

If it makes you more comfortable, every Zales have diamond testers (machine) on site. Have them test it infront of you when you drop it off and again when you pick it up. Diamond testers are hand held devises that you touch to your stone. The heat that a diamond gives off is unique and no other stone will register other that a diamond.

Good luck!

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

I had my e-ring sized twice.

The first time, it took about 30 minutes, so I walked around the mall (where FH originally purchased my ering)

Then I had resized again and I had it done where my FSIL works and it took about 15 minutes and I waited in the store.

I don't know about a week.....

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

I know some places can take a week or more, depending if they can do it right in the store or send it out. (My FH is a jewler) Anyways it only takes a matter of minutes to actually size a ring so if you find a Zales that does it right in the store it should be done while you wait. HTH

They'd know because the ring would be a different size than when they sold it to you and they have no record of doing the work themselves.

If you want the warranty to stay intact, I'd have them resize the ring.

Do you have diamonds all the way around the band? If not, it shouldn't take that long to resize. I'm very leery of leaving my ring with any jeweler unattanded or outside of my sight -- but I think if it's where you purchased the ring, it might be safer to leave it for the week than with just any jeweler.

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

FH got mine from Zales too and also the warrenty...when I took it for the 6month inspection they told me one of the side stones was loose and they would have to send it out to the jewler for repair.....I was sooooo leary of this cause I was like well whos to say you won't switch the stones kind of thing and my GF told me they can do a diamond test....so I had it fixed and a few days later went to pick it up ...they did the whole diamind test thing on every stone and it said that they were diamonds yadda yadda......I go home and FH looks at it and swears they swapped the big diamond ....which this all reminds me I have to go before the end of the month for inspection again hehehe

I had problems with my zales e-ring too, it takes them TWO MONTHS to replace a stone that falls out! I hate zales! My FH had to resort to buying me a cubic zirconia ring as a stand in for those two months...so maybe you could try that...at least you'll have something on your finger... I think a second ring is necessary for all zales girls unfortunately..

Re: Girls with an Engagement ring warranty--Zales vent

I wouldn't want to leave my ring anywhere. I hate to even hand it over to get it cleaned or checked.

They must keep a record of the size or other issues that are under the warranty. If it was a size 6 when it was purchased and suddenly it's a 4 they might freak out.

Hope it works out though.
