How do you wrap a laundry basket?

My mom bought a round plastic laundry basket for the chinese slippers to be displayed in at the reception (pictured below but without the handle).

Any advice on how I can make this not look like a plastic laundry basket purchased for $1 at the dollar store?

I'm thinking of wrapping it in tissue paper but anyone got any other suggestions? I'm afraid the tissue paper will rip easily. We have to give these to the DJ before the wedding.

What if you weave ribbon between the slots.
Its not wrapping but I think it will look awesome!!!!
You could spray the basket white and use your wedding colors for the ribbon.

How about some white tulle.

Or you can just get a few yards of some cute fabric that you like at the fabric store, and sort of lay it in the basket (this way you aren't pulling the fabric over it and you will have a dip in the middle) , and then tie it on the bottom or hot glue it to the bottom??

I wrapped a rectangle laundry basket for a shower in a bag that I found at the Dollar Tree. It was a wedding gift bag that kinda looked like a garbage bag, but with bells and doves and all that fun wedding stuff.

Check Dollar Tree because Ive purchased clear bags for baskets one time also.

thanks for these great ideas! I will try the ribbon thing and if I can't get it to look right, I will buy some tulle and wrap it that way.
