Irish Songs for Groom and his moms dance

I am trying to think up some suggestions for songs for my fiance to dance with his mom too. So I can give them both some ideas, then they can pick. I really would like it to be an Irish song, actually that is what he would love.

I know a very popular one is 'my Son' but I wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions, if so please post. Thanks alot

kimberly

I love Sunrise/Sunset from The King and I. I don't know how Irish it is, but I hope it helps!

Re: Irish Songs for Groom and his moms dance

My Son is the most popular one! You could use 'A Mother's Love is A Blessing'

Re: Irish Songs for Groom and his moms dance

My husband and his mom used My Son. It was a real tear jerker... exactly the opposite of my dance with my dad!

Cormican,

We're also looking for an Irish song for FH to dance with mom to. Our first thought was to use Pat Roper's 'My Son'. Now we think we'd like a song that is more from FH to his mom, instead of from mom to FH. Any suggestions? Her name is Ann (Ann Marie, Annie will work too).

Hope that you don't mind me 'hijacking' here.

Thanks! Happy Friday!!

Re: Cormican,

ss2002
Gentle Annie by Tommy Makem would be perfect for them!!!!!
I am using it as my father daughter dance. My name is Annie.
Here it is

GENTLE ANNIE

Fair, lovely Annie, your gentle ways of loving
you bring peace and joy and laughter everywhere.
Where you go the sunshine follows
you're a breath of spring in winter
and my heart and soul are always in your care.

Gentle Annie, gentle Annie
my heart and soul are always in your care.

When you touch me with your fingers
my cares and worries vanish
like the morning dew before the rising sun.
When you rise tell me you love me
and my soul is filled with wonder
and my love for you will live when life is done.

Gentle Annie, gentle Annie
my love for you will live when life is done.

You're my flower among the flowers
you're the bird's song in the morning
you're the laughter of the children as they play
you're my hope and joy and wisdom
you're my reason just for living
you're my treasure, you're my very night and day.

Gentle Annie, gentle Annie
you're my treasure, you're my very night and day.

When the mountains all come tumbling
and the earth stop its turning
when the winds don't blow and stars refuse to shine
When the moon has left the heavens
and the seven seas are empty
I will still have gentle Annie on my mind.

Gentle Annie, gentle Annie
I will still have gentle Annie on my mind.

Gentle Annie, gentle Annie
I will still have gentle Annie on my mind.

Re: Irish Songs for Groom and his moms dance

I was on yahoo shopping and typed in wedding and came across the cd:

Vow: An Irish Wedding Celebration
Aine Minogue & Druidstone

you can listen online by my computer needed to download software so I didn't, maybe you will have better luck, it has a lot of songs on it-good luck!

Cormican, thank you!

Of course, Gentle Annie! How did I forget???? What a beautiful song. There won't be a dry eye in the house when you dance with your dad.

Thank you so much! FI's mom is going to be soooo surprised!

Re: Cormican, thank you!

I was hoping you would choose Gentle Annie.
It is so perfect, isn't it?
We were also thinking of Annie's Song by John Denver but it talks about laying down together.
It would be more appropriate for my FH and me, not my Dad and me. i am glad I listened to the lyrics!!!
