The US Merchant Marine Academy-Melville Hall Thread
Hello Melville Bridal Chicas!Let's huddle together and share, share, share!! We're all brides of Richard, Great Neck area, USMMA fans so we should team up to exchange the joy in planning our weddings. I love seeing all the pictures of brides who have been married there and/or just had there reception there and can't wait to see and share more on LIW!
I'm looking forward to talking individually and through this thread with everyone, and viewing everyone's questions. All of the USMMA brides I've 'met' so far have been helpful especially since I am an OOT bride. So here's to us!
Cheers!!

this isn't a great picture, but the room is almost a half cirlcle., with the rounded side being all window looking out on the 2 bridges, the skyline and the water.

There needs to be some affiliation to the school or military. There a hierarchy of priority of who gets to use the chapel, and I think its the same for the Officer's club. Here's what is posted on the website:
ELIGIBILITY
Use of the Mariners Memorial Chapel will be determined as follows:
Priority I - Graduating Midshipmen
Priority II - Alumni and Academy personnel and their children
Priority III - Active or Retired Merchant Mariners and their children
Priority IV - Active Duty Military

My brother & SIL got married at the chapel there. It was so pretty!! The reception was somewhere else, but they did have my niece's christening party there and her communion party will be there this May. It is so nice there. Your weddings are going to be so beautiful!!I think you do have to have an affiliation to get married there, don't you? My brother is an alumni.
Oops - I didn't see your answer!

My FI graduated from there and he is active duty Navy. I am a former Navy officer. It really is a neat place and its such a small world! I run into more folks than I ever thought I would who have some sort of tie to the school.

Hi,I just wanted to say my brother got married there 2 years ago and it was fantastic! My father was in the USMMA thousands of years ago and that is how he was able to have it there. Their wedding pictures are fantastic!

Ladies...you are driving me so crazzzzzy!!!!!!
This is where I met my DH....right on campus...It brings back such wonderful memories.
We were going to use the chapel and hall, but fh did not speak up soon enough. But, anyway, that place is so gorgeous!!!!!!!!
We worked there for 3 years. I know Stancotti and his wife. His wife is a charm!!!!
I have to go there and visit the facility, they don't even know he and I married. They would all be so shocked
