Victor Talbots -- pricing question
FH and I went to Victor Talbots and found an entire ensemble that he's thinking about buying. We're fine with the price of the tux and shirt but were really surprised at the price for the pocketsquare & tie ($300) and vest ($500). Is that normally how much they charge? Thanks!

Re: Victor Talbots -- pricing question
FH got his tux there- and the cost of the vest and tie he had on there (and fell in love with- as did I) was astronomical. They are full vests and are custom made for the shop-- we actually looked in Saks one day and they had a vest- the EXACT same fabric that we had seen in Talbot's- for A LOT less money- Turns out the same company that supplies Talbot;s with the vests- also makes their own and sells in retails stores- now it was not all the way around, but when he has his jacket on- you can't tell-- and you really don't need it all around.. it's a nice touch for when their jackets are off- but not 700 dollars worth.
I'd say look around and see what else you can find-- He got the vest, tie and shirt at different places- and they altered everything for him..
Who did you work with there? We have been working wiht Mark.

Re: Victor Talbots -- pricing question
Randi--thanks for the info! We actually met with Mark as well. FH is deciding between the tux he saw at VT and another he saw at Tuxedo Park. The one at Tuxedo Park is the same price but a 2-button with flat-front pants instead of a 1-button with pleatsl. He also loves the salesguy there, this really adorable older guy. He's thinking that he might buy the tux at Tuxedo Park and get the accessories from VT if he can't find them elsewhere. I have a feeling he's going to buy the shirt from VT no matter what because he really loved it. I'll make sure we go to Saks though to find the vest! Thanks again for the tip!

Re: Victor Talbots -- pricing question
FH got his tux there too and is still talking about how much $$ he spent --it is crazy! I think we should have shopped around but we didn't --he also bought his shoes there --I think they were $450! The way I look at it is that he will at least get some use out of his tux beyond the wedding --my dress still costs a lot more and I will never wear it again! We worked with Darren --oh --how much were your tux rentals?

Re: Victor Talbots -- pricing question
Our GM and DH's grandfather rented their tuxes at VT. Their prices to buy tuxes are insane. Dh wanted to buy something there but I talked him out of it. He ended up buying his tux and accessories from Nordstrom's. Still expensive, but less that VT.

Re: Victor Talbots -- pricing question
actually --FH bought a Hugo Boss at VT and the price was exactly the same as Bloomies --I think we could have gotten the accessories and shirt cheaper elsewhere (vest, tie, etc.)Welcome New Vendors
