Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
Anyone know anything about them? We have been looking at coops in Queens (mostly garden apts), and so far we liked these the best... just wondering if anyone had any info.

I'll ask my FSIL about them - she has seen a few there - they are actually interested in one - the one she saw was an upper and it is about 800 sq. ft. -ETA: i think they need a joint salary requirement of $75K - i dont know how strict they are bought i doubt they are as strict as Bay Terrace

Re: Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
I used to live in Windsor Park - I still own my apt. there and rent it out.I loved it- the area is great (as a matter of fact..we bought a house in hollis hills around the corner so I am still in the area)
I looked at some of those apts about 2 years ago when I wasn't sure if the FH and I were going to get engaged - they are very nice, and my apt went up more then double in value - they are a great investment!!

I live in Hollis Court which is not too far from the Windsor Oaks complex. I like the area a lot. We have shopping close by and major bus lines which help if you commute to work. Have you checked out Hollis Court? We were looking at Windsor Oaks at first but found Hollis and fell in love with the layout. - But JMO - both complexes have a lot to offer.

Re: Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
I am in Windsor Park which is right next door. I almost moved to Oaks twice. Some of the apartments in Oaks are lovely... but my biggest complaint about Oaks is NO PARKING. They give you two parking stickers that lets you park anywhere inside their grounds and not on the street. You think that would be good enough... but really its not. There are too many apartments and not enough parking spaces.
I remember one time I decided to just drive around at 11pm to see if i can find any parking. I looked at all their inside lots (That you need the sticker) and on the street. I couldn't find a damm thing and I was like NO WAY. I DJ and come home late at night often and that would have just been a major nightmare for me. The waiting list to get an assigned garage spot is currently over FOUR YEARS long.
You will have a much easier time parking in parts of Windsor Park (apartments that run along 73rd avenue - always parking there) and around Hollis Court.

Re: Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
Also... I do know for a fact that certain Windsor Park parking lots (that are all assigned - not first come first serve like Oaks) do have immediate openings for parking.I was able to get my FW an assigned outdoor spot for $50 buks a month same day - no wait. Most of the lots and all the garages do have waits... but they are not long at all. Maybe six months tops.
Oaks won't charge you for the two parking stickers... but I found that its very difficult to actually find spots on their grounds.

Call the Windsor Park sales office. Linda Mandel. (718) 776-8300.She works on-site. Set up an interview with her... and its very possible she can show you a couple of apartments on the same day. She usually gets the keys to any apartment she has listed. You do have to schedule the appointment in advance (you usually just cant show up)... but she is available on the weekends by appointment sometimes.
Oh... and most of her apartments are exclusives... not listed with any other agent or online since the on-site office is quite popular and busy.

Re: Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
Linda literally has a waiting list of people WAITING to buy 2br apartments. This is one of the reasons why I decided to upgrade my apartment from a 1br to a 2br while the rates were mad low. I figured it would be much easier to rent out my 2br than my 1br.She has sold apartments same day in some cases. Renting one out in 15 minutes? I am not surprised.

Re: Windsor Oaks coops in Bayside?
Literally 15 minutes - I walked in 5 minutes before a girl who was looking for an apt. just like mine - 10 minutes later I had a signed lease. My Fiance almost passed out -
he had been pressuring me to rent it for at least a month - I was taking my sweet time (I had cold feet about moving in together) so finally I got myself to Linda's office - done!
