RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

My FH knows someone who wants to give us her RCI Gold Crown Timeshare in Hawaii. As soon as I heard of this, I was nervous because the last time I stayed at a timeshare place, I wished I hadn't! We had to do the dishes, make the beds, vacuum, clean up, etc... I always pictured my honeymoon to be romantic in Hawaii. Dinners on the beach, sleeping in a room with an ocean view. You know, LUXURY.

Has anyone ever used RCI Gold Crown Hawaii? Please help me out. It would definately save $$$$, but I wanted our honeymoon to be all out luxury & romance.

Are the Timeshares with RCI something that's HONEYMOON worthy??? Please respond. I've been crying for 45 minutes straight.

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

Of course!!!! When you go into RCI.com and go under resort directory at the bottom choose the all inclusive, for what ever destination you choose. I dont however know if there are all inclusives in Hawaii, but who ever has this timeshare can bank it for the resort of your choice, granted its available, so I would check into it asap. GL and if you need help let me know, I am an RCI member so I can help you get info too.

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

My Dad has an RCI timeshare and I've gone with him from time to time. He gave us an RCI week - we got to pick where we go. He just had to pay an exchange fee. We chose Moorea, French Polynesia. Since I feel the same as you, the resorts aren't THAT luxurious, we are doing 11 days, 7 at the time share and 4 at a 5 star luxury resort (Bora Bora Nui – I can’t WAIT!!). That way we have the best of both, a very affordable honeymoon, but still have that time to be pampered! The RCI resorts ARE nice, though, but they’re like 3 star IMO. Since you're already paying the airfare and all, to stay a few extra days at a totally gorgeous plae shouldn't cost too much extra!

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

My friend told me last week she stayed at one for her honeymoon in Mexico and it was beautiful.

We have 2 weeks and we're using one to get 4 nights at the Westin in Maui and the other one we'll use in Kauai.

If you choose to use it, make sure you book a Gold Crown Resort.

My family owns with RCI and I've done quite a bit of travelling. As far as how nice they are, it really depends. I've stayed at some great places and some not-so-great. Use tripadvisor to get reviews of the places.

We stayed at the el dorado royal in mexico through an RCI timeshare. It is all inclusive. I am not really sure how it all worked but there were some fees to change the location and we had to pay the all inclusive fee.

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

My sister has teh RCI timeshare in Orlando. She was going to give us a free week in Hawaii. Well, I looked through the book and only found about 3 hotels I would consider staying at. Of course all three were booked. SO I just told my sister we would pay for the week. What I did, was look up the hotels on trip advisor. See what everyone has to say. I did find a few that were pretty good.

I figured it was great to get a free week, but what good is it, if your not staying in a luxury hotel. For a regular trip, it would be fine, but I wanted it special for our HM. That is JMO. If money is an issue, defienetly take it. You are still going to Hawaii.

EXACTLY!!!!!!! We always go for regular vacations. This one should be special. That's why it's called HONEYMOON, not VACATION.
Thanks!!

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

Are you definitely set on going to hawaii. You can always take the week and pay the fee to change it to a different location. Mexico has a bunch of all-inclusive resorts that work with RCI. We did 2 weeks at 2 different resorts, through RCI. Both were all inclusive. They work with resorts all over the world you just have to call RCI and see what is available

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

Yeah, we're definately set on Hawaii. This was the one thing that my FH really wanted out of the whole deal. Well, Hawaii and a lifelong relationship with me But the 3 things he cared about with all the planning was the food, wedding night, & the Honeymoon. I wanted to go to Italy, but he looked so sad when he heard me say that. I can't stand it, he's so adorable when he's disappointed. But thanks for the info about Mexico. I'll keep it in mind for the future!

Re: RCI Timeshare in Hawaii? I'm still crying :O(

i used our timeshare in aruba for our honeymoon...whicle it wasnt the rose petals and private pool type of honeymoon

Fh and were satisfied b/c we wanted to save money and we laid by the pool most of the day and went out at night...the amount of time we spent in the room was minimal

still, if a nice fancy romatic honeymoon is what you have your heart set on, i would politely decline and say you already have planned your HM
