Macy's Bridal Registry

Has anyone else noticed that when they go to Macy's to get something off someone's registry (or maybe with your own registry) that, even in person, it needs to be ordered and sent to you??

I went last night to buy something to avoid a 15 dollar shipping fee (I live so close to Macy's so I figured I would save some cash)... and everything I tried to ask for wasn't in stock.

Now, not a big deal b/c the BS that I was buying for is not until June but what if I was a last minute shopper? IDK, I was frustrated by this-- has anyone else experienced this? Is it different at Fortunoff??

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

we have a small list of items at macy's--but we're gonna delete our registry. just not a fan of their customer service and such. 90% of our stuff is on our BBB registry anyway! we'll probaby switch to fortunoff instead.

Interesting, I wanted to register at MACY'S, but FH said MACY'S is overrated and wants to do BBB, LT, and Target. I thought they gave you incentives for registering with them, but I guess its not worth it.

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

Out of the three places I registered (BBB, Fortunoff, and Macys), Macys had the best customer service. I started my registry online and went to the one in Roosevelt Field to add items and they gave me a rundown of their registry program. I went to the one in Manhasset last night and the service was even better, the women check the items that had a star and told me to reconsider them on my registry because they didnt have them in stock. So I vote for macys by far.

yeah i have to agree with you there! there have been a number of times that I wanted to say screw this and go to fortunoff b/c they are so rude at macy's... but then there are other people who are very helpful, i always get reeled back in. plus, i have so many items i said to myself, just forget it and stick it out.

for you tho, since you don't have that many items-- i would go to fortunoff, my sister registered with them and loves them!!

yes, they definitely do-- but sometimes i do feel like they aren't worth it-- but when i get my rewards points statement each month i love getting the cash back... it's a love/hate relationship lol!! haha...

i just worry that when my guests (who WILL go last minute) go to get my china, and then they won't have it in-- they will either get something else or give me money but i want my place settings first and foremost, plus i dont want my guests to be annoyed about the fact that they can't show up with a gift-- i like to be able to have a gift with me when i go somewhere.

so we'll see but i'm not happy as of right now!

yeah that's interesting-- b/c when we first signed up, they were amazing (i don't think it was just b/c we were first signing up) and even last night they were very helpful and friendly-- it's not so much them personally, it's Macy's system of not having things in stock, she said they just don't keep china handy ever... so that's a let down.
but when i have dealt with them-- excpept one really bad experience after i registered and last night, there was one woman who was nice and one who was really nasty... but overall, i would say that they have been better service wise than bad but nothing 'great'... maybe it's the location i'm going to?
either way, the not in stock problem concerns me for my guests so that's why i was upset.
hmmm... i'll stick with it and see what happens, hopefully they will get better.

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

Hope things get better. I'm thinking about registering with Macy's this weekend but now.....
I don't know.....let us know if things get better
Doesn't Macy's have a list of the most popular registry items that they guarantee to have in stock?

ooh i didn't know about that list-- maybe they do, i was never told about it.

i don't totally regret my decision but i really hope that my guests go in advance to get it and that most of the other things they want are IN stock when they go to get them for me-- it's easier that way, i registered with macy's over fortunoff for not only the reward points but b/c it was easier-- more locations, so i want it to be easier not a pain in the butt for them...

i'm still wondering if fortunoff is similar or if they have things in stock most of the time.

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

I have bought last minute items off registries at Macy's before and never had a problem.

Maybe the person you were shopping for picked a lot of things on line and not in person and therefore there was a less chance of them being available in in the store. I had that probelm with Pottery Barn, everything I wanted to get my friend was not an in store item.

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

i've had problems buying there for people too in the past but did register there also, they have a good return/exchange policy & u get 10% back from anything bought off your registry in the end... i did bbb also, but i heard bad things about targets return policy so i stayed away from there, apparantly you can exchange but have to get it from the same department & get something that day.. so macys didn't seem so bad after that

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

Sorry to crash your boards.. and congrats all! but I have recently not been a fan of Macys.. We were registered there and things went well until now.. They offer you free stuff when you complete your dishes, glasses, sliverware.. etc.. SO for Christmas we had everyone give us gift cards so we can finish it all and get the free pieces ( we needed one set of each item) they said it will be shipped to us.. that was in JAnuary, I recently realized I had received nothing so I called up and they told me the order was never placed and they refunded my gift cards.. Funny no one told me.. so I went to the bridal registry and got a completely different story ( never an apology) they told me everything was reordered and I would have it soon.. well in the mail yesterday was a macys gift card reimbursing us.. which means my sets are not complete and no free pieces and NO explanation..
they are backwards..
SO just be carefull...

Re: Macy's Bridal Registry

I have to say - Macy's is the BEST registry that we have experienced.
Everyone there has been nothing less of helpful, going out of their way for our every need.
We never had a problem with the shipping, or the customer service.

IN FACT, we had MAJOR problems with Fortunoff's, and even wrote them a letter and took many items off to put on Macy's. At Fortunoff's, they take your business for granted and are VERY rude...

I would highly recommend Macy's registrty to anyone!

Like Cherese has send before, you need to experience for yourself - don't take 100% what a few brides on here say.

My experience with Macy's is GREAT...
also, we already have hundreds of dollars of macy's cards, as they have a star rewards program....
