Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
So DH reallllly wants me to get a brazilian.
I want to do it for him too, but more than the pain, I am nervous about it irritating my skin. I have pretty sensitive skin ... I nair my arms (they are hairy, I have no shame in admitting it) and as some of the girls here have seen, I get bumps and itchy arms from it. I planned to do it last wed. in preparation for my wedding, but with my grandma passing away, I had to do it FRIDAY and I started getting itchy at the sweetheart table!! SO, I am nervous that my whole lower region will be a MESS if I get a brazilian. I am going to be on a plane ALLLLL DAY on Sunday. If I get one it will be tomorrow.
Anyone here who has gotten one have sensitive skin???? How did your skin react?

So sorry to hear about your grandmother- I didnt know!Anyways, I havent gotten one yet for the same reason that you mentioned the senstivity- I think I might wait until you will be home to test it out- I dont know if you will have a problem, you probably wont, but thats a really long flight to be itchy there

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
first: i'm so sorry about ur grandmother..
as for the wax; haven't had the guts to go all the way yet, but what about just starting out with a standard bikini wax?? that way u'll atleast get a taste of how it feels & how ur skin will react without going all the way
ps: friends who've gotten it do say that most are irritated the first day or two so i dont know that doing it the morning before a long plane ride would be the best idea...especially that it's going to be ur first time..they've also told me that bacitracin or vaseline afterwards works wonders

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
DONT DO IT!!!!i have sensitive skin and a brazilian wax was the way I found out i'm allergic to the wax. i broke out in itchy red bumps EVERYWHERE from the wax and irritation!
i would go and have a spot on your leg etc tested and see how you react 1st. otherwise just bring the ol trusty razor with you

Thanks Taryn. I *may* try just a bikini wax after the HM, and if that doesn't work ... maybe sugaring .. although I am not a manhattan person so I'll have to find a place on LI

So sorry to hear about your grandmother
I am very sensitive. I done brazalian several times and I found a place in the city that is great. They have a no double dipping policy. Check out Shoba's http://www.shobhathreading.com/
I go to Yasmine, she is fast so there is less pain.

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
Sorry if this is too much info -- I have sensitive skin also and had some bleeding and bumps for a day or so after the waxing but it went away after that. The only thing is I had such an issue with in growns afterwards that I really recommend getting something that will help avoid them!

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
I am sorry about your grandmother. As for waxing, go to a nice spa, not a nail place -- I go to a nail place for my eyebrows, but found a salon I love for down there. (Devachan in Soho -- I know you're not a city girl, but most day spas do it too). Hard wax is so much better for down there. It goes on as a liquid and then hardens, and they pull it off without using the fabric strips. It hurts less and is better for your skin. Its also a little more expensie, but i think its totally worth it. I wouldn't do it now though -- if you are worried about a reaction, I'd try it after the honeymoon.
Have a great honeymoon!

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
im crashingi have very sensitive skin too - but ive gotten brazilians and was fine as far as the irritation and bumps go BUT my skin down there did hurt afterwards and it hurt even the next day - it almost felt black and blue even though it wasn't actually bruised - i havent gotten rashes or anything like that but i was really nervous about doing it because of the fact that my skin is sensitive...
after doing it a few times that black and blue feeling went away - but it might be umcomfy to sit on a plane afterwards especially after the first time - i remember the first time i got one FH was laughing because i was sitting all weird trying to comfortable...
depending on how fast your hair grows you dont have to wait a full month - a week and a half or 2 weeks is probably plenty - but the longer you wait there will be more hair for them to get from each follicle - its hard to explain but say you wait a week and get waxed - then the week after you may start growing hair - but it wont be the hair that you got waxed off - it actually hairs that didnt come out yet - sorry im not good at explaining it but im sure you know what i mean....
i would wait - and if your skin is that sensitive start with a bikini wax to test it out

I told dh today that I can't get it now, I don't have enough hair growth .. and he was a little
but then I reminded him of what a great shaving job I did before the wedding and he was all
So after we get back I will get a bikini wax and try that...

oh no i am so sorry to hear about your grandmother, I didn't know
condolences to you and your family
for the brazilian wax, i suggest if you get it to put something on after. Some waxing places put this oily thing on you but its not that great. Theres other products that some salons use that specifically are for you not to break out and to calm your skin after, its this cooling type gel and the name infact is after wax cooling gel. I have one at home and the name of it is GiGi honee. It has cucumber extract to soothe redness and aloe vera to moisturize. I dont even really get red, only my arms when i wax and the redness goes away in less than an hour, and i dont get bumps either. If you can't find this product, you can also use milk, put it on a cotton pad and just rub it on the area you got waxed.

Re: Brazilian wax for those with sensitive skin???
i've tried so many places, so many different kinds of wax. the one that hurts the least, and really isn't so bad, is poetic wax at Bliss. Give it a try =)
