Cold Sore Wedding worries
Does anyone get occasional cold sores and is worried to get one on or right before their wedding day?

There is something they sell over the counter now, it's starts with an A.. I'll have to ask my mom about it but it's suppose to heal and prevent, maybe you can use it the week before as a preventative measure.

You know what happens when you worry about something, it usually happens, try to relax about it.. alot of times they are stress related .. as hard as it will be to do, try to stay calm and everything will be fine!

Pookiesangel is right...the more you worry about it, the more likely it is to happen. The only other thing I can suggest is taking L-Lysine every day in addition to the prescription. That should definitely help.

I am worried about it, since I have one now as we speak. I'm just planning on using carmex and lysine every day for about two weeks before the wedding and hope I don't get one.

I get cold sores. I use Abreva to help get rid of them. The trick is that you have to apply is like 100 times per day AS SOON as you feel it coming on. NO JOKE!! It really works for me

sometimes it works, unless I get one in the middle of the night, then it's all over!

Re: Cold Sore Wedding worries
I agree! for starters its the stress that is bringing the cold sore out....so take a breather.I get them ALL the time!
What I do is Lysine pills...I double up and get a cream such as Zovirax, denavir (prescriptions) or Abreva(OTC).
I also use Valtrex in pill form and the min I felt that tingle I would pop one and by next day its almost gone. So far that has been the best one and most effective. It kills it instantly. You may want to use those to prevent any upcoming ones. Lysine should do the trick though.
Just remember...(easier said than done) but try not to stress to much!

Re: Cold Sore Wedding worries
I never had one in my life and I got one 2 months before the wedding on my lip! I was so nervous it would happen for the big day that I got a prescription from my doctor. I took it ten days before the wedding and was fine. (every day, once a day) FM me if you want the info!

I completely agree with Debbie. I take L-Lysene every day. I also carry around Zovirax creme and some Valtrex pills. Valtrex works the best by far. What I plan to do is a few weeks before the wedding take Valtrex every day.

Re: Cold Sore Wedding worries
Maybe you can talk to your doctor and he can prescribe Valtrex. It is two pills that you take as soon as you feel one coming on and then 2 pills 12 hours later and it knocks them right out!

I agree, go see a doctor a least a month before the wedding. There is a cream call denavir which will make the cold sore go away in a couple days. Also taking Valtrex pill will prevent future outbreaks.
Good luck!

I took Valtrex everyday for 2 weeks prior to my wedding... it prevents the cold soars from coming out. It really worked !!! Since I didn't get one
I'd go and get a perscription and make sure the Dr. puts a refill on there- depending on how long you want to take them.I usually get them from being stressed and have read that the combo. of chocolate and peanuts will make you break out from them. There was no way I was giving up chocolate... but peanut m&m's were out of the question!!!!
Best of luck to you!
