demetrios brides - size question

do you think your dress was true to size? ran big? small? im going to try on my dress today for the first time - i was ordered their size 2 which is the smallest they make - 33-25-36 - my actual measurements are 29-23-33 - do you think the dress is going to be HUGE on me? by the measurements it kind of seems like the dress is still going to be pretty big right?

these dresses run small....My normal dress size is a 4 or 6 and i had to order my wedding dress in a size 10!..I couldnt believe it!

I am a street size 8 and my dress is a size 10 and it fits perfectly

whatever happens they will be able to take it in to fit you perfect, so don't worry

it will be big, on the chest area its a bit of a difference so will be big on top but they will pin it to see how much needs to be taken in so you can get the idea. The waist isnt that big of a difference so shouldn't be THAT bad. Then the hips will probably be a little bit big too. Dont worry youll get an idea of what it will look like bc they have to pin it to see how much they need to take it in so they will pin it close to your body to get it perfectly. It will probably be long too and dont freak out when they start cutting your dress in front of you hahahaha bc they need to cut it while you're wearing it. The crinoline i was fine with them cutting all the underlayers but the outside of the dress i was like oh god i cant look haha

OMG your so tiny! I dont have a demetrios but i think most of the designers sizes run really small. Like if you ordered a 10, in street size thats actually a 6. So you are probably a negative street size! Regardless, even if its big, the seamstress will make it perfect for you. Mine was like 8 inches too big around my hips and now its fitted!

i think i am abnormally tiny - shopping is a horror because of it - and only being 5ft tall doesnt help matters much

I'm a Demetrios bride I am a size 8 in regular clothes and measured btwn an 8 and a 10 for my dress and ordered a 10 on their recommendation. I wouldn't worry, they will make it fit!

They measured me for a 6 but ordered the 8 so there is room to take it in.

why are you getting nervous though? MOST of us have to get alterations bc it doesnt fit right, its what alterations are for hahaha. They ordered me a different size to make sure the dress fits my chest and then the waist they can take in after. I know a few girls who had to order a bigger size bc of the same problem. Others who had to get a bigger size for other reasons and then take it in the chest area. Its not a big deal to take in the chest area. Dont worry they will get it to your size and to fit right. They will take in the sides on your dress probably to make it fit.

Hey my dress came too long and the problem was that it wasnt supposed to. I have beading on the bottom front of my dress, the seamstress even said if they took my height before ordering it and i said yes. Well now to take off the bottom meanwhile i have all this work on it. The bottom part in the front is extra work i added so its this applique with crystals on it, she has to remove all that herself, hem it and then put it all back on herself the way it was. Its what they do with wedding dresses and nothing to worry about. Its better for it to be bigger than too small bc its easier to take it in rather than letting it out. Getting alterations on a wedding dress is normal. Many times it wont fit perfect, some do get lucky but others will be perfect on the waist but too big on top, or perfect on top but too big on the bottom. Some peoples measurements dont fit perfectly into a size that is on the size chart. The difference between my chest and waist is a difference of 10 so for me most dresses dont fit perfectly

im not worried about the alterations - im nervous that i wont LOVE it - and im nervous because i changed the neckline - and im nervous that it will be too big for me to tell how its going to look

im sure you'll love it, you had it made just the way you liked it. I was very nervous bc i added work to mine and kept thinking that i am going to hate it once it comes in. IT was fine though. Like i said they have to pin the dress close to your body so they know how much to take in so you will get to see what it looks like perfectly fitted. It will be more than them just clipping the sides when you try on dresses haha. They will start now to pin every little part that needs taken in. They did this for me and after they did that it fit perfectly while the pins were in although it needed work.

Hey I'm 5 feet tall too and I had to order a size 4 in my Demetrios gown. Last year for my sister's wedding I also wore a size 4 in a BM gown. It seems like the bridal industry wants girls to order two sizes larger

i'm really nervous about my dress too... i know it's going to be way too big! when i ordered my dress in sept i was at my highest ever weight (i gained 10 lbs from my summer job ) and it already started coming off once i stopped eating out 10x a week. the sample dress fit me perfectly, but my mom insisted that I order up one size just to be safe (always easier to make a dress smaller than bigger) JUST IN CASE i gained any weight or didn't lose it.

Well, I've lost about 9 of the 10 lbs so far... and I'm only 5'4 so that's still a lot. The dress shop didnt seem to think it would be a problem so I'm going to hope they can work their magic since I'd probably need one size LOWER than the sample now, not one size higher...

I have the same problem, i was a size 12 street ( 14 dress) I am 5'6 and have lost 17 so i am down to a street 10,
when my dress came in , it was huge on me, and i want to loose another 20 ( size 8 dress?) and my dress shop said they can alter it up to 4 sizes ....

Dont stress....they had to order my gown according to my chest which is 4 dress sizes bigger than my waist (want my matress? lol) and they have no problem taking it in, in my stomach area. The second i put it on i LOVED it! With clips holding it in place lol
