Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

These details are really killing me!

Is it supposed to be Mr. John Smith and then Mrs. John Smith or should it be Mrs. Jane Smith???

What if there is no specified guest's name? Several of our friends RSVP'd for 2 people but did not put a guest's name.

Should it be Mr. John Smith and then Mr. John Smith's Guest?

Should I not put Dr. Mr. Mrs at all???

Re: Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

I think it depends how formal you want to be. I'm putting names with no titles. Is there any way you can find out the guest's names? By email, maybe? I've got one or two people coming that I'm not sure about either and I have to find out.

Re: Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Mr. John Smith and Guest (try to find out the name)
Ms. Jane Smith and Guest (ditto above)
Dr. and Mrs. John Smith
I forgot how it goes if the Mrs. is a Dr.
the higher title goes first, but is it still
Dr. and Mr. John Smith

So you put 2 names on one place card? Shouldn't each guest have their own place card?

Are you doing place cards at each seating - or are you having each guest pick up their place card in order to find their table?

If it's the latter, I'd do one place card per couple.

Re: Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

i am not doing place cards at each setting, guests can determine who they want to sit next to. I am doing just the escort cards to indicate the table number.

Sorry - I guess I got confused for a moment btwn place cards and escort cards.

No, most of us say 'place card' when we really mean escort card. I know I do!

Re: Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

I wrote out the place cards exactly the same way that I wrote out the inner envelopes. So if a couple was invited as 'Mr & Mrs John Smith' then that's what I put on the place card.

If someone was invited with a Guest and they didn't put their guest's name then I put 'Ms. Jane Doe & Guest' on the place card. Of course, if they listed their guest's name on the RSVP then I put it on the place card.

Sorry, I've become dense lately.

Yup. Kids go with their parents too, unless they're at a separate table of course.

It's ok, bride brain, you're almost there!!

Technically, place cards sit on the table, at the exact seat where the person is to sit.

Escort cards are on a table by themselves and guests pick these up so they know which table to go to. Then they usually sit wherever they want at that table.

Most people just say 'place cards' though and are usually referring to escort cards. I know I do this.

If you're using escort cards, one card per couple (or family if there are children) is fine.

Re: Do you put Mr. and Mrs. on the place cards?

Thanks for clarifying!

Yes, I'll be having escort cards.

My bridal party volunteered to do votive place cards (or escort cards) for me but it's difficult enough for me to sort through the guest list.

I may opt to just handwrite the escort cards on the place cards the hall gave us.
