Just wondering girls....

1. What was the best/favorite gift you have ever given or received at a bridal shower??

2. What was the most sentimental gift you have ever given or received at a bridal shower??

(thought this would be fun and I need some ideas for my cousins shower)

My two favs were baskets-
one was a baskey filled with outdoor stuff-plates, glasses,placemats, etc-
the other was a basket filled with snacks and board games. I just thought was so darn cute...(it came from my cousins baby)

I think anything that has though she will love. Think about what she likes-or buy a few things from her registry and make a basket-with a theme...


plus I loved my towel BOK and cake...they were amazing.

One of my best friends made up a basket with all sorts of stuff she knew I would love..a serving platter, steaks knives, a pizza cutter, a cutting board...she color coordinated everything and it looked beautiful.
But my favorite gift of all was two wooden girls attached to each other that says 'sisters'.
My sister moved to Florida just two weeks after my shower.

I gave my MOH a huge picnic basket filled with all beach themed plates, platters, placemats, a pitcher, glasses, bowls, etc. from Fortunoff, plus a 'Gone to the Beach' sign - and wrapped it in cellophane all pretty. She LOVES the beach, so this was PERFECT for her. IT looked SO pretty!!!

I haven't received any shower gifts yet (well, any that I'm allowed to open yet), but some that I'm hoping to get (besides my honeymoon registry) are personalized stuff with what my new last name will be. I LOVE those jumpsuits to wear on the wedding day with 'Mrs. XXX' and the wedding date written on the back. Soooo cute! I think that would be a really special wedding gift. Also, 'Bride' and 'Groom' hats are adorable. And 'Mr.' and 'Mrs.' t-shirts to wear on the honeymoon are cute. You could do a whole basket filled with cute stuff like that. That would be adorable and would make for a very special presentation!

I love giving baskets... The last shower I went to I took a whole bunch of her baking items from her registry (plus some cute little extras) muffin pan, cake pan, cookie sheet & then I went to Target and bought all the packages for the pans muffin mix, cake mix with frosting & sprinkels, cupcake liners, and then cookie mix... It was soo darned cute ~ I LOVED it ~ if someone gave me this gift I would sooo love it and I had so much FUN putting it together...

I have a shower to go to next month and I am going to do something similar she loves Williams Sonoma (but on her registry she did not have too much on it) so I am thinking of getting her a bundt pan and some of the mixes to go with it...and some of williams sonoma little extras!

The best thing I got was for engagement - havent had my shower yet.
My MOH bought me a hammock - I am from Queens with a concrete backyard. All I said was when I move to LI I want a nice yard where I can be lazy in my hammock - so she bought one for our new house.

A good friend of mine gave me a basket of cake mixes and assorted icings. She put sprinkles and candles and all sorts of goodies in it. In the card she wrote how she hoped we could celebrate our 'firsts' with cake. Our first month as newlyweds, our first birthdays, our first holidays. It was really cute and it was my favorite and most sentimental gift.

oooo You just made me think of one i read about where you put a bottle of wine in a basket all with labels...and each one is to be popped on that occassion

My cousin is getting married in April, and I think I know what I am getting her...but my Mother wants to do something Really special. Normal she crochets an afghan for their bedroom, however my aunt does this so my cousin already has tons...so she is trying to come up with some thing else that will be her special gift to her!!

I love doing baskets too and they are always a big hit. Some I have done include buying the waffle maker they registered for and putting different types of mixes and toppings in; Ice cream maker with cones, sprinkles, syrups, little bowls, etc.; baking items (cake and brownie pans, etc) with cake mixes, flour, icings, decorating pens, etc. and an italian cooking themed one with all of the bride's colanders, pasta cooking stuff, jars of sauce, pasta, cook book.

I love doing it and FH thinks I should go into business!

DH's aunt started a recipe book for me once she knew we were engaged, and put in all my favorite recipes from things that she has made for holidays over the years. She put some other really yummy ones, and also left blank pages for my mom and MIL to add recipes. It's like a family heirlook and she wrote the nicest and sweetest note on the inside cover.

My mom wants something like this...however i think a few christmas's ago...My aunt went and collected a bunch of old family recipes and gave both my cousin and i our own recipe box with them in it

and yes i do love doing the baskets tre....however now I am thinking that may not be the best idea because I would have to mail a basket of wine!!!

I know I'm getting her blue underwear embroidered with mrs. so and so on them...and that will be a something blue for her...still thinking about everything else....I was gonna make her a guestbook, but nebraska weddings are much lower key than we do here...so I just dont think it would have the same effect it would here!!!

Yes there is no way I can afford to fly out for a weekend for the shower...or even find the time to take off with school and work...and I'm in the wedding...but i'm going to go like at least a week earlier which is fine (cause she'll do the same for mine)

My mom also wants to get her something special because they are the only girls (its my mom her sister,and 3 brothers)...So they have that bond...then they each had one girl and 3 boys...so it was another bond...and then...as much as i am my mother...I have more of my aunts drive and desire to shop, we are both BIG planners, love to do the gifts that will make people cry, send the lil things outta no where....My cousin has my mothers lack of a desire to shop, they are both list makers but unorganized planners (weird I know)....so in the end we always joke that we each got the wrong mother....so my mom wants something special for her other daughter

I figure I will ship the sentimental stuff...anything we make...ny stuff....stuff we can only get in ny...and the stuff off the registry we wanna get we will send my aunt a check for to pick up
