I always thought it was about a romance ended, that she had learned from. Maybe the timing just wasn't right or whatever....but here are the lyrics.

I guess it could be used for a Daddy dance...

I love that song... 'I Loved her first' for Father/daughter although I am not sure who sings it.

I always though of it as a love song.. But after reading the lyrics, I think it would be a really nice song to dance to a dad with.
