Is a sit down dinner for a bridal shower too formal?

At first I didnt like the idea of this (3 courses plus dessert) but I think the food will be much better than your standard buffet!

I have only been to buffet showers and just think there is more opportunity to socialize, but then again once you get your food, you sit and eat and then watch present opening and play games.

I've hosted and been to bridal showers that are sit down lunches and they were 3 courses.

yeah all showers ive been to were sit down well except for one that was buffet. And just bc its sit down doesnt mean it has to be fancy or anything.

i had a sit down meal for my shower and it was great.

appetizer
soup
salad
entree
dessert


it was great cause people didn't have to stand in line for awhile to get food---and we were able to open gifts in between courses---so ppl didn't get so bored.

There are no rules...do what makes you happy! I think it sounds great!

I've been to a few like that and it has been wonderful. I actaully went to one this past Sunday, everyone seemed to be very happy

ditto. and it's only as 'fancy' as you make it. A sit down meal kind of loses its 'fanciness' when you start wrapping people in toilet paper to make gowns, you know what i mean?

I've been to a sit down Baby Shower which was nice. So, I think a Bridal Shower could work too!

my mom threw my shower & it was an afternoon sitdown at the meadow club... everything was so beautiful & everyone there had great thigns to say Being that it was the afternoon it was definetly not too formal...dinner may be a stretch..but hey - if it's what u want then do it.

If you are worried about it being too formal, you could opt for a sit down lunch or brunch (my shower was a sit down brunch) for a semi formal feel but without having to give up the good food that you want.

We had a sit-down lunch shower at my shower- I enjoyed it.

I dont think there are any rules that say what you can and cant do for a shower. If you want a sit down dinner then go for it!! Im sure it will be a nice change of pace for people who are use to buffet style.

After doing the buffet style...I would suggest the sit down dinner...it would be a welcomed change for your guest...

Almost all of the showers I've been to were sit down dinner style... you're either getting up to get food or having the food come to you... but I think the ladies still socialize in both instances.
