Spinoff to Father/Daughter Song: If your parents are divorced...
and you were raised by your mom but she doesn't want to dance with you (talk about traditional) what song did you or will you choose? I'm having a really hard time finding a song for my dad that's not too mushy or talks about milestones, etc. since he wasn't very active in my upbringing being that we moved to NY when I was younger. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I wanted to do 'Daughters' by John Mayer but it is a bit harsh (although true!) but I don't want to be a jerk and make dad feel bad. Thanks girls!
ETA: Since I didn't grow up here and my dad speaks whatever English he's picked up in his lifetime of military life, any suggestions for songs in Spanish that fit the 'not too muchy or sentimental' criteria will be welcome!

I had a friend who was in this situation but there were also step parents involved....I don't know what song they used or if this even helps but I thought it was clever. Her and her DH danced as well as all the parents, stepparents and they switched throughout the song. Might not work for your situation but just thought it was a good idea...

Thanks Soon2bMsZ - I had also thought about that song but wasn't sure if it was too upbeat. My dad's coming from PR and slow songs in Spanish are r e a l l y slow, so I guess I have to test it out first (but that's what fi's are for!
).That's a great suggestion jeanla4c - I had actually mentioned to my fi that I wanted to dance to 'Wind Beneath My Wings' with my dad but have the DJ announce that it was dedicated to my mom (it really remids me of her, not him) and I wanted fi to ask her to dance, but he said maybe mom would feel weird, so it's still a work in progress.
They're both great suggestions though, thanks!
Does anyone have the lyrics to 'The Way You Look Tonight'...is that appropriate?

i had a similar situation but i didn't want to hurt my dad. so i did thank heavens for little girls. i also thought it was appropriate b/c my dad is remarried and at the time of the wedding, my half-sister was 11 months old.

My dad is also remarried, but he has been married to my step-mom (whom I adore) for almost 20 years. He does have 4 girls (and 2 boys), so that's a good song...I'll listen to it today!
Does anyone know any good ones in Spanish?

I don't know any Sinatra songs, but I'll look up the song and lyrics. Thanks for the suggestion!
