Town Crier Idea: How to incorporate it into ceremony? Repost from 05 board)

Hey everyone,

MY FH's little sister really wants to be a FG, but she's 9 years old and I really want younger FGs (I think they look so cute when they are small).

So I thought of an idea of letting her be the town Crier in the wedding. I was thinking that right before I walk down the aisle I can have her come down the aisle saying 'The Bride is Coming, The Bride is Coming' and then read a scroll welcoming the guests to the wedding. I really don't know if this would look right or not, and I'm not sure how to incorporate it into the ceremony. Do you think that it would ruin the flow of the procession?
Have you seen this at a wedding before? If you have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, please let me know if you even think this idea can work...

Thanks a bunch.

I've never seen anything like that, but it does sound cute! You could have her announce you at the reception too so that you carry the theme through

I went to a wedding where the bride had her little brother (he was about 5) run in right before her ringing a bell saying the bride is coming the bride is coming. It really was cute and quite a surprise to the guests.

I was just about to suggest the bell ringer. Its usually done by a boy older than the ring bearer, but I dont see why it cant be done by your little sister. I think it will be so cute!!

Re: Town Crier Idea: How to incorporate it into ceremony? Repost from 05 board)

Found this for you:
The Custom of The 'Bell Ringer' or 'Bell Ringers' is a lovely one.You have heard about the bride being escorted by the bagpiper, but have you heard about the bride or the wedding party being ' rung in' by a 'Bell Ringer' or 'Bell Ringers'?
In some parts of the world and even in the American wedding ceremony children or young adults are asked to walk the wedding aisle in front of the wedding party or immediately preceding the bride and the start of the bridal march. The 'Bell ringer' or 'Bell Ringers' walk the length of the aisle ringing their respective bells announcing the arrival of the wedding/bridal processional or of the bride herself.

The bell Ringer is such a nice idea and it's aldos something different that you don't see at every wedding.

Thanks Diva, for the information. I tried searching for Town Crier on google with no luck. I'll try bell ringer instead.
