Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

I'm really curious about this, because our payment for the total # of guests is done before the wedding - so what happens if a guest who rsvp'd as a yes decided not to attend the wedding? Does the vendor return that money to you after the fact? I know this happens at receptions where people say they'll be there, then for whatever reason they don't show up on the day of. It just doesn't seem fair to me for the bride and groom to still have to pay for people who were not there. Would love to hear if this has happened to anyone and what your experiences were. Thanks!

Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

I spoke to my banquet manager about this. He said a couple of weeks before the wedding we have to give them the final # of guests attending. This mean if we tell them that the final count is 110 and only 107 show up, we still have to pay for 110.

My sister got married a couple of years ago at Leonards, it happened to her. 4 people didn't show up and she still had to pay for them. I hear some venues give you the dinners (for example, if 3 people don't show up, they'll pack up 3 dinners and let you take them home since they're already paid for) but i'm not sure which venues do/don't do that. You should definitely contact your banquet manager and double check

I don't think mine does either. I know my friend had this happen to her, and they venue just packed up a bunch of food and desserts for her at the end of the night to make up for it. They bailed on her a couple days before the wedding so she was able to call her BM, and this was the only option they offered.

Re: Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

Thanks all! I think I'll be reviewing my contract when I get home tonight! :) I'm concerned about all of that money just going to waste if people are rude enough not to show up after telling us otherwise.... FH and I are paying for the lion's share of this wedding, and we are both working very hard to make sure we have enough money for everything. The thought of losing hundreds of dollars after all that time spent saving really just makes me sick! Hopefully we can get the food packed up or something - at least we can get our money's worth! I still don't understand how people can be so rude and inconsiderate with something like this. Either come or don't - but stick to whatever answer you give the bride and groom! Ok, rant over ;)

Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

We had this happen at our engagement party. Oddly enough, the first people to rsvp couldn't make it at the last minute. Our BM packed up tons of food for us to take with us. There was so much that even a few of our guests were able to take meals. They packed the rest of our cake too, and a few snacks from the dessert table.

Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

I already have a feeling I'm going to have the opposite problem. FH's family is NOTORIOUS for not RSVP-ing to things and then just showing up. Though they are equally guilty of saying they'll be there then never showing up or showing up three hours late. Either way, I'm bracing myself for both scenarios.

Most venue's the final count you give them is the final count, period end of sentence. Though most venues will pack up the extra meals for you if you request it for the no-shows.

Will your reception vendor provide refund for no-show guests?

I wouldn't imagine many venues would do this, and I can't say I disagree. If they have to make sure they have enough supplies/food/staff for that number of people they shouldn't have to compensate for guests that don't show. That's why I put my foot down with FH on guests that we think may flake or have flaked on other friends weddings. I told him I have no problem explaining to them why they are not invited.

I wish - but I've never heard of a venue doing this before.
