As a military wife I applaud you for helping your husband towards a very selfless desision. There will be times that you hate the military and will be sick of it but it really does out way the bad when I think about the service my husband has done for our country. I am always so proud of him and proud to be an army wife(which I believe is sometimes a harder job then the job as a soldier)

Please feel free to message me on facebook, I have been through it all and the time apart is hard but it makes you grow closer also. Military wives have to stick together so anything you need I am here. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends but the support and comfort you find in a fellow military wife is a different kind of support because they know exactly what you feel and are thinking

Thankyou so much jess - i truly appreciate you putting urself out there for me! i am SURE i will be touch with lots of questions when all of this goes full throttle.. And i'm sure i'll need someone to talk to/hang with when he's away(and it'll be great to have someone who's actually been there/going through it!). After doing a TON of research, talking to many CG wives, and my uncle who's been in for 25yrs, i'm eased to know that CG memebers can't really be away for TOO long, or go outside the U.S. unless they go voluntarily..which obviously made me feel a little better! lol again - thanku for the support, encouragement, etc! i'll let u know when things are definetly a go & his bc date is set!

...and i just wanted to thank ALL of you for the support & positive encouragement - it truly means a lot! i will keep you all updated as we move along the process! Starting today i started dh on a health kick to drop those 6lbs

i dont know MUCH about the CG... my best friend's hubby is in the army, so i know a lot about that end of the military

can i ask you something - and i hope this doesnt come out wrong... like i said, i dont know a lot so i am curious!!

besides always wanting to join the CG since he was little - what are the benifits to joining? like, what is so inticing (sp?) about the CG that made your DH want to join? is it the same as joining the army - like, do they eventually pay for school and stuff?

im really curious b/c i dont know much about any other branch of the military

That is awesome!!! Congrats to you & DH on your new adventure...i had always thought about joining the Coast Guard!!! One of my academy classmates did it and enjoyed it...best wishes and hope bootcamp goes by quickly for both of you!!!

Congratulations to your DH and you as Taryn. You must be sooo proud of him. That is wonderful news.

My Dh had always wanted to be a Marine so when that time came for him to join it wasn't a shock. But Boot Camp was hard to get through with no contact. But you will definitely make it through with the support and love of your family and friends. Those are the people that are always there for you. However, it is great to have others who are similar or the same situation as you. As you know my husband is in the Marines and we went through 4 years of him being away. It is hard but not for the one you love. But being able to talk to others that were in that situation helped me get through it as well. So if you ever need a listening ear or someone to give you advice, help, prayers, support etc. I am always an FM away or you can message me on facebook.

You are definitely going to be entering into a new journey of life, but it will be a great one, stressful, hard, and probably a little scary at times...but you have each other to lean on throughout it all.

Congrats again and good luck to your husband. Let him know we are all proud of him!!!!!
