Bob's Furniture

DH and I were looking at their bedroom sets yesterday. I was wondering if anyone bought furniture from them. Did they negotiate or throw in any extras? Also, I was curious about the cost of shipping. DH wants to build us a set himself but it's going to cost about $1300 and I'm not sure if it will be worth all of the hours and stress! Any info would be great.

Re: Bob's Furniture

We just bought a set from Bob's. It's not the best quality but we're gentle with it. We spent about $3500 on a king sized bed, a dresser with mirror, a tall chest of drawers, and two night stands. You're able to pick other things from outsides of packages and substitute them. We wanted a big leather headboard and footboard so we subbed that in for the set we got. Shipping was about $150 I think - it goes by price point. The nicer stuff is definitely the more expensive stuff. We thought we'd go with a $999 package but it just felt like c ra p.

We did not try to negotiate - don't think that would have been possible. Good luck!

Re: Bob's Furniture

I've been meaning to ask this question! I dropped in the other night to look at couch sets and I was curious if anyone had negotiated with them. One thing I know for sure is I'm not willing to pay shipping when I have the means to take it home myself and don't want delivery men scratching my walls. They told me delivery was only $59 though for a $900 2 piece couch set. I curious why others were quoted higher, it sounded like a flat rate to me.

Re: Bob's Furniture

Our couch is from there, it rocks! It was I believe, $1300, for a leather sofabed and love seat, and that was including shipping.

we didn't negoitate, but searched a lot and this was the best deal for the price we wanted to pay.

I think it depends on how much you spend...we spend over $3000 so ours was more.

Re: Bob's Furniture

they don't even have big holiday sales, the prices are so low I think that is it, I don't think negotiating is possible. We bought our den tables from them and I love them.

We will probably buy bedroom furniture from them as well, when we can. We got a new heating system and a puppy instead.

Re: Bob's Furniture

We have been looking there for our bedroom and dinning room furniture, just waiting for everything to come together for us to buy anything. Plus I hear all mixed things about them but, I guess you get that everywhere.

Re: Bob's Furniture

We got our Bob O Pedic from them. Their customer service has been GREAT. I got the firm initially and they swapped it NO problem for the plush and I was way past the 30 day cutoff.

Re: Bob's Furniture

DH had a fire at his apartment complex in late '06 and his former job paid for a new bedroom set for him. We went to Bob's and spent $1k on a queen bedroom set including dresser / mirror / chest / 1 nightstand / mattress / headboard & foot.

It's crappy furniture (the $1k set we got) but it was nicer than anything either of us have ever had before and we still have it now. The drawers s.uck and get stuck all the time and stuff, but it looks nice enough. Chips very easily if you move it, though, so be gentle.

When we get a house in the next year or so, we'll upgrade to a king bedroom but plan to keep this furniture in our guest bedroom (we talked about it just the other night, actually!).

They do have some very good quality stuff, I believe -- we just didn't want to charge like $3k to his old office because they were being so generous and all in the first place. Before the fire, he just had a mattress on the floor!!!

Good to know because I HATE our firm Bob O Pedic...DH is in love with it so I wanted to swap it for a half and half.

Re: Bob's Furniture

Thanks for all the input ladies. It looks like DH is going to make something himself. I'm sure it will be great in the long run, but in the mean time I feel like this is going to be a loooong road! I'm already sick of the questions about how many drawers I want, how tall, what kind of feet it should have, etc. Maybe in a few years it will all be done and I can post some pics! Thanks again!

Re: Bob's Furniture

I bought a bedroom set from Bob's and the bed irreparably broke within three months. Don't suggest them at all.

We had the warranty but the bed broke due to a weakness in the structure of it and there was no point in getting a new one so it would break again.

It was a cheap piece of garbage.

Re: Bob's Furniture

I have a dining room set and china hutch from there. The price was right but my table is already getting scratches! It was our first furniture we bought for our home so its not a big deal. If it craps out in a few years we will just replace it. It was cheap enough and served a purpose for awhile.

They never have a sale and do not offer any bonuses, discounts, and you cannot haggle with them. The price you see is the price you get.

Re: Bob's Furniture

ok this is JMOdont take it wrong but honestly, i wont buy anything i feel like i have to be careful with because im kinda the type that shuts things hard & slams things. I ADMIT IT! lol I also think if im going to spend money id rather spend more & have it forever (or longer) then have a lesser quality & then buy again in a few years.

We purchased our bedroom furniture at the Door Store in Carle Place & we love it & its all solid wood. Anyway, thats my opinion. Best of luck in finding something u love. Hope it works out.

Re: Bob's Furniture

We never purchased anything from there, but we did look. I would check out Ashley Furniture, we just got our dining room table there and love it! Everything seemed so reasonably priced there and I liked the 'feel' of the store better then Bobs.
