In my thank you, I'd say thank you for coming, hope you had a wonderful time, thank you for the gift. And I wouldn't mention that it bounced. They will know. If they want to send you another check, they will. You don't want to embarass them. If they don't send you another gift, oh well. Like you said, you invited them because you wanted them there, not because you wanted their gift.

I am just going to kindly decline the invite for thier GTG.
I am sending them a thank you...just saying thanks for being with us on our special day.
