Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We plan on eating it. I took LIW'ers advice and wrapped it in saran wrap, then foil, then in an air tight tupperware. Hope it tastes okay.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We each ate a bite... it was gross!
My MIL saved it for us, I didn't want it save it at all, but since she went through all of the trouble I had to have a bite.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

My freaking grandma found it in my parents' freezer and ATE IT while we were on our honeymoon....she had no clue it's a tradition to save and eat it....she and my mom dug in and finished it. LOL

So we bought a black forest cake on our 1st and just used that with our cake cutter

When we travelled to NC from LI, our cake didnt' make it

And to be perfectly honest, I totally forgot about getting another one (as I told DH I wanted) since there was so many other things going on at the same time

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We kept it for a year (with a MOVE 6 months in) and we did have a few bites on our anniversary. It wasn't so bad. A little dry, but the icing sure kept (and that's all I really care about anyway).

My only suggestion is to make sure the flowers (real ones, not frosting ones) are completely off before you freeze it. That was a little gross.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

our one year anniversary was yesterday, and we stuck with tradition and had a peice of the cake.... i have to say, it actually was pretty good! . we had buttercream icing, and that froze pretty well, so i mostly just ate that- LOL but it was pretty good!
we didn't save the whole top layer, cause that took up too much room... just kept enough of it for us to each have a couple bites. we had it wrapped in saran wrap and in a tupperware container.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We ate ours 3 months after our wedding. We wrapped it a zillion times and froze it, and then we decided to eat it when the anniversary of our engagement approached. It was very good!

I don't think it would have still been good 1 year later though. Every taste of 1st anniversary cake I've ever had has been gross--I don't care how well it's wrapped, it's just not as good.

The cake came from a bakery though, so around our 1 year we will buy a small replica of our wedding cake.

We did save the half burned votives that were around our cake--I figured I could light those on our anniversaries!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We were told it would be gross for the 1 year anniversary. So, by request of other brides, we had it for the 1 month 'anniversary'. It was nothing like it was on the wedding day and was already dry. I'm glad we didn't wait another 11 months.

I only wraped it in saran wrap I need to wrap in foil also and a freind offerd to save it in his BIG frezzer but I rather it be with us taking up all the space
The idea of only saving 2 pices is a great idea wish I though of that

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

Ours is stowed away safely at my ILs freezer. We did a pretty good job packing it. The plan is to just leave it and eat it on our 1 year anniversary or close to it, since it is in NY and we are in MD.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We had ours on our 1 year - and shared it with my family. It was soo good!! I couldn't believe it. The next night we still had some so we shared it with DH parents His mom was not at all excited - though she tried to pretend But even she had to admit it was awesome! I was really excited since I didn't get to eat much of it on our wedding night.
