Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

Yes, a whole bunch of them. I know a lot of our guests were not doing well financially, and I didn't expect gifts. But for cripes sake, get a crayon and consrtuction paper and make me a card that says congratulations. No card tells me that all you came for was the free food and drinks.

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

I agree, I expected just a card from a few, but I guess that was too much to ask.

I can count on 2 hands the people that came with NADA

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

One of my groomsmen didn't but he said he would buy us something for our house. 2 of our friends didnt.....one of which came with a date and was not invited with one. He just met this chick and brought her to the wedding, then she proceeded to get hammered and started a fight with a bunch of people and made a bunch of rude remarks as my relatives were leaving the wedding. She was so trashy ughhhhhhh and she is in a bunch of my wedding pictures

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

We had several, most of whom were on DH's side. We received a couple of presents a few weeks later and I'm pretty sure some of DH's friends will eventually give us gifts. I'm not sure whether we'll ever get anything from some of his relatives and mother's friends. Actually, DH's uncle just came by my office to drop off our wedding present. I had no idea he was coming so it was funny to get a call from reception that I had a delivery and to see him there with a present.

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

Yep...
My closest friend, love him like a brother-but he's avoiding us since the wedding. BTW,he's a self-made millionare (has been since we were 25 yrs old) owns a bunch of businesses, homes galore,is an investment broker, shall I go on? Weird thing is we've always been very generous to each other gift-wise
DH's friend & wife- nada,zilch,no gift.

Then we had a bunch of 'adults' jump on the bandwagen with their parents..they are in their 30's and signed onto their mom & dad's card These are DH cousins,he said come '06 we'll just return the favor and sign on FIL & MIL's card when its their wedding...we'll see about that,DH is too generous, all talk and too much pride to actually do it.
Another is my closest & ONLY cousin, came up to us at reception with FI saying how they 'forgot' and left it at home,OK- thats possible but.. they live down the block! I would have sent DH home to get it. Their wedding is also coming up,I'll be returning the favor! You know what they say 'payback is a bitc%'.

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

Oh! I almost forgot! To tag on to my earlier post about actually having a doctor attend and not give us a gift, another COUPLE wrote us a check...........

for $25!

Okay, let me get a grip. I know the reality is no one really has to give us anything. Maybe it's all they could afford. We're grateful for all we received. In all honesty, I just thought it was friggin hilarious.

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

Did anyone consider that they did give a gift and it was misplaced at the reception? We did not get gifts from 3 people and for 1 of them, it is shocking that they wouldn't give a gift. We are positive they gave one and it got lost, so we're not sure what to do . . .

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

No, thank god. However, I was suprised how many people did not cover their plate. On a better note some guests were suprisingly generous.

ETA: Oops, I forgot one person who did not bring a gift on my husband's side.

Actually, I don't even know.
I had a couple of people come to us about a week after telling us that they didn't get us the card yet. I never noticed.

Re: Did anyone have wedding guests that gave no gift?

We had quite a few actually (around 10 or 12!!), including 3 from the BP! Only one of the guests has mentione that he is giving us a gift but he really thinks he has a year to give it to us. What's surprising is that nearly all of the people who didn't give a gift are pretty well-off. What are you going to do though, you know? Maybe when they get the thank you note that doesn't mention a gift they'll remember to get us one!
