We were on the newlywed game and won all the answers correctly and strangers were buying us drinks and sending us bottles of champagne.. my DH said he felt like a 'chick ' getting picked up............. Also, we had a strange couple at our table on the cruise we will never forget them- they would order one of everything and they were so strange, they came from Philadelphia, and they tried to follow us and get our addrress and phone # so they could keep in touch with us, we thought we would die if they kept following us around, we ditched them finally at the airport when we flew into Los Angeles............the whole cruise ship knew who they were and also when we were doing laundry there was this one lady who kept showing my DH her net underpants.. he was bright red and we also thought she was a strange one.... we seem to attract the wackos..............

While in Australia at Ayers Rock we went to this Dinner Under the Stars thing. Its pitch black except for a votive on each table in the middle of the desert so you can see every star in the sky.
The host is telling us how things are gonna go for the evening and then Dingos start howling. Mind you, when you get there the tour guides tell you how all the dingos have been cleared away because of A Cry in The Dark reasons. The host looked like he was gonna crap his pants as well as the chef and waiters.

He had his girlfriend with him and would not let her taste some of it...because it was beyond her what her palette cuold handle. WHAT?? Yeah, it is a great wine...for $5 a bottle.
This guy was so obnoxious he leaned across the table and tried to engage us in conversation...and kept asking how our food was.

I am convinced he was just doing it to make a show. But it was amusing.

Just out of curiosity, was it Paul Giamatti? Were you at a filming of Sideways?

To the rest of you girls, The rest of the cruise/honeymoon was great - we had an awesome time. I think that most of all it strengthened our ability to bond in the face of adversity. And we have great stories for the grandchildren!

Almost! That is what I get from having my honeymoon in Napa Valley! DH and I of course HAD to see Sideways.
Now it is a running joke with us, if we taste a new wine...is it better than a Lambrusco???

Wow! This was fun to read.

DH and I needed to take a shuttle from the airport in St. Lucia to our resort. Naturally, the shuttle broke down in the middle of nowhere! Luckily we were only there for about 20 minutes.

We got picked to go on the newlyweds game and we were back stage waiting for it to start. I did NOT want to do this because DH and I were drinking pretty much all day but he forced me too! Then a few minutes before the hsow started the guy said 'Um you two are too intoxicated, so maybe next time' I was like THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Well, the first funny thing was that although they had both names on the reservations, since my maiden name is Italian and we were in Italy, DH was called Mr. R-Italian name instead of Mr. F-Polish name

Funny/nice thing. We were in Capri for my birthday and DH decided to order flowers to be sent to the hotel room for me. Well that and our passports were enough of a tipoff for the hotel to know it was my birthday AND our honeymoon so they sent us a bottle of champagne...AT 8:30AM!!!

Also, in Capri, DH decided that after reading the map and seeing that there was a nice little nature walk near the hotel, we would walk before my birthday dinner. Well, somehow we took a wrong turn and two hours later we had walked a path that went around the island of Capri and was mostly STAIRS!!! My heart pounded and I almost blacked out. There was no turning back and we had to keep walking to get back to the restaurants and hotels. I think we fell asleep as soon as we got back to the hotel after dinner. I have never walked as many stairs as we did in those two hours. Oh yeah, we were dressed up nicely to go to dinner, but when we finally got there, we were covered in sweat and looked like hell. The waiter looked at us strangely and treated us rudely as a result.

We had I think the longest trip home ever! The end is the best part ...


We started at 10 a.m. Zanzibar time (2 a.m. NY time) on Friday, January 21st. We drove 1 hour across the island, hopped a 25 minute flight to the mainland. Had an 8-hour layover so we were transfered to a hotel, where it rained all day.

We got to the airport and boarded a midnight flight to Amsterdam. Once up in the air we were told the video equiptment was broken and we could not watch the TV or listen to the radio. This would be fine for normal people who would sleep on the overnight flight, but since I'm a basket case so I sat there for 10 hours watching everyone sleep around me (side note: DH is 6' and a big guy, I'm 5' so it wasn't a comfortable ride....). We landed in Amsterdam and had a 6 hour layover ... We were exhausted from not really sleeping but we wanted to see Ann Franks House so we hop on the train and go into Amsterdam City. Do the tour, have some coffee, hop back on the train and get back to the airport.

At this point we know there is a BLIZZARD in NY but KLM tells us they are flying anyway.
So we are making great time going across the atlantic. I think the fllight time is suposed to be about 7-1/2 to 8 hours depending on the headwinds. We are 19minutes to landing right around the Boston area (love those trackers they have) and the time changes to 1-1/2 hours. What I say??? Mind you I haven't slept yet at this point. It's now Saturday at some point and I've been through a gazillion times zones.

They announce that because of the blizzard there is some 'congestion' but they have enough fuel and will circle over Cape Cod for a while. Okayyyyy, fine.

About an hour and 20 minutes later they announce that they are now DIVERTING US to Newark because a PLANE SLID OFF THE RUNWAY AT JFK!!!! Exhausted and punchy at this point I start hysterical crying that we are going to die, why us, I want to go home ... blah blah blah. I think I scared the teenage boy next to me!

So they start the decent into Newark but it's a complete whiteout - it felt like we were landing for about a 1/2 hour. I was literally balled up in the crash position for over a 1/2 hour just waiting to hear the tocuhdown.
We landed pretty smoothly considering and now they announce that Newark was not prepared for us and that we have to wait for a gate. They find a gate but guess what... they have to plow it out! So we wait for over an hour and a half to get to the gate.
Now the entire plane is ready to get off the plane but they won't let us off because Newark isn;t expecting us, there are no hotels, NJ is in a state of emergency and you cannot get a cab so we wait another hour until they arrange shuttle service from Newark to JFK.

DH & I are arguing at this point in front of everyone on which shuttle to take - NYC or JFK. We had to get through customs, etc, etc. He finally relents and we get on the one to JFK. I instally fall asleep on the shuttle. I wake up every once in a while and we are just slow moving.

We are at the holland tunnel, then on canal, then on the BQE. So I see the driver go towards the LIE exit. I jump over my sleeping DH, knocking down all our bags and waking everyone on the shuttlebus and ask the driver, are you getting off on the LIE? He said yes so I said get off the first exit and drop us at that gas station and get back on the highway. So he drops us off, we gave him ahuge tip and now we are stanfing knee deep in snow with just sweatshirts and keds on and all our luggage looking at each other. We went into the gas station store and asked to borrow a phone and called my mother in law. She dug out her car and picked us up at about 11:30 p.m. NY time on Saturday night. (which would have been about 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning Zanzibar time) ... so I was up and traveling for almost 48 hours.

I was never so happy to be home.

Then two days later I landed in the ER with a bacterial infection ... ahhh my first week as a new wife at home and I was a disaster!

We were at a club in Monte Carlo. The place was quiet, so we ordered a couple of drinks (2 beers for DH and 2 drinks for me) hoping the club would improve. About an hour later no one had shown up, so DH asked for the check. He looks down and then asks the bartender if it's correct. She nods. He pays. We get out of the club and he tells me that those 4 drinks cost us almost $200.

We went to Vegas and wouldn't ya know-- we had to RUN to catch our flight, it rained almost the entire time (the desert, go figure), when we went to the grand canyon it was foggy, and coming home our car battery was dead. After all that we had to laugh..

Scary thing happened to us. On our 2nd to last night, DH and I were dining in the hotel restaurant and we had brought our camera with us. I looked over my shoulder and saw two men pulling bandanas over their faces. I turned to DH and was just about to say 'these guys look a little freaky' When all of a sudden one of them was at our table and grabbed our camera. I jumped up and started to chase after him, when DH yelled at me that the other one had a gun Needless, to say I let him run off with the camera. I guess the NYer in me came out, it was just instinct to try and get the camera back. It was scary and we had no pictures from our honeymoon The hotel was really great and they gave us $800 credit towards our bill. And 1 month later the local police recovered our camera. The camera was damaged beyond repair, but we the disc was fine and we were able to get our honeymoon pictures after all.

I locked the keys in the rental car in the middle of no where in maui. Then the bus for one of the waterfall tours ran out of gas and we had to walk back to the store. This all happened on the same day.
