I agree with the private moment...ours was very private (with the exception of 2 video guys and 2 photographers...)

but i am glad it wasn't on display...

and you can have that moment alone...instead of on the aisle

when walking down the aisle...I was as calm as I could be...I enjoyed looking at all the guests (looking at me) and I have those images burned into my head...those smiles!!! they were great!!!


I also loved that I could partake in every second of the day...getting married in the hall cuts down that time!!!

We had our pictures after the ceremony and I tell you I dont regret a thing!!! The look on my husbands face, I remember my sister saying look at his face, he looked as if he were in awe, it was GREAT, and he was so excited he said I DO so loudly and proudly that everyone started giggling, it was really a great momnet, and I dont think in our case the effect would have been so strong had we seen each other before hand. We had teh hall bring the cocktail hour to us, so while we were taking pictures, we were still eating and drinking, the only thing we missed out on was our Stell Pan player, but we'll catch him in the video! Its a personal decision, many people are just as happy if they take pictures before hand, the groom will still get caught in the moment when he sees the bride walking towrads him along with the beautiful music, I just was against doing it before hand and I like the way my decision worked out, but again, its a personbal decison, its what works best for your situation! We took our pictures BEFORE the ceremony because we were getting married at the hall and I didnt want to squeeze all my pictures into one hour. Realistically you are paying a lot of $ for everything and you want to have enough pictures! Does your hall allow you to extend the cocktail hour?
If were getting married at a church we would have done differently because there is usually a few hours inbetween to take the pictures.
I didnt feel that it was less exciting walking down the aisle. It was SO exciting because the reality kicks in that in about 30 minutes your going to be married! Plus all the guests are there so its a different feeling.
I had my parents walk me out to where my fiance was waiting for me, with the rest of the bridal party to take pictures. It was very emotional and I had a few quite moments with my fiance.. that we would have been able to do until after the ceremony.
The other thing we had to consider was the time of day... Our ceremony began at 7 so it would have been totally dark if we waited until the cocktail hour.

It was the moment I always dreamed of! Walking down the aisle on my dad's arm, with him seeing me for the first time.

I agree with Jenn, we took our pics after the ceremony and it was truly beautiful the moment of walking down the aisle and seeing him for the first time. He got all weepy, and looked so lost down at the end waiting for me to get to him I wanted to run down the aisle.

It is a very personal decision. FOr us, we were married in a church. Ceremony was at 3p, cocktail hour was at 630p. We took pics of the girls and me w. my family before the church, and were able to take all of our pics after the church and still made it to our whole cocktail hour.

I would not have given up the moment for anything...the pics are great, but I will always remember the feeling of walking down the aisle to my hubby It makes me smile even now.

We got married at our hall and took pictures BEFOREHAND - mostly bc he refused to miss any part of the cocktail hour. I had my reservations but honestly would not change a thing. We had time to go to a beach for pics before formal pics at the hall. We were able to spend the cocktail hour with friends that we hadn't seen in a while. AND - He still had the most amazing look on his face seeing me walk across the lawn with my parents, and I still felt radiant!

It's really your choice. I would weigh what your priorities are and decide that way.
