Meeting place near throgs neck bridge?

A friend and I are walking in the psoriasis walk at the bronx botantical garden this Sunday. She lives in Long Beach, I live in Huntington, and I thought maybe we could meet somewhere near the throgs neck bridge so that we both do not have to pay the tolls, etc, and collectively save a little gas. Anyone know where we could meet?

Ideas I had that I need help with:
1 - is there a park on the Grand Central, along the water, right before the bridge?? Can we park a car there and leave it for a few hours? Is it safe to do that?

2 - I know there's a shopping center on the left hand side of the grand central, right near the bridge too. Something with Bay in the name? Can't remember the name of it. If anyone knows can you tell me? And, is it safe to leave a car there for a few hours? Is it easier to get there from the grand central?

I do not know queens at ALL and do not want to get lost getting off the parkway.

Bay Terrace in Bayside ?
Baybridge in Bayside ?
You can't leave your care inside the shopping center, it will get towed, but you can find street parking.

the shopping center is bay terrace, you can definitely leave your car there. Not overnight but it doesn't sound like that is your plan anyway

Fort Totten off the Cross Island is a good spot (get off at the last exit before the toll- Bell Blvd- & go right the parking lot is on the left hand side) or Bay Terrace is the shopping mall- take the clearview to the last exit before the toll and make a right- the shopping center is down a mile or so

Thanks girls. the shopping center sounds like a plan - we would be picking up the other car by like 12noon - but can you get to it from the grand central? I am so completely unaware of the roads in queens and utterly scared of them.
