Not that its the same but if you have photos of you and your mom with other people they can crop and/or airbrush other people out of the photo so you can have ones just of you two.

You should be able to take your mother's life partner out. I could try to do it for you since I do graphic design for a living I would just have to take alot of the background out. Let me know if you would like me to try to do this for you.

I did my own make-up & hair was Explosion in Howard Beach- Anna... she did Neicey's hair!! Loved it-

Steph, I thought of that at first- but there's a space b/t us and it's not the same, ya know? I wanted some 'loving' pictures of us sitting, looking at eachother- all the things my Mother normally doesn't do in a photo- SMILE.... (she hates her teeth- so vain)

Bridget- you're too kind!!! I think they can take him out... again though, it's not the same. My Mom has gorgeous big blue eyes and never smiles. I've only got a handful of pictures of she and I & I thought I'd have more of a selection and memories on my wedding day on film. MK will take more & Mom and I will have another fun day doing a reinactment. Hopefully, she won't cry on this one-lol

Jenn- ha! That's my Mom's friend holding the table so it wouldn't move... no more of a show than what they got- THANK GOD!

Bridget!!! I appreciate that so very much! At least I can e-mail this one to my Mom and put a smile on her face for now....

I think we're going to do both the Mom's and us though. He doesn't have a 'posed' one of him and his Mom either- so, at this point, I think it's worth the hassle of getting dressed up again and taking some shots IMO- it's the least the photographer can do for us...

I think your proofs look great.
I feel bad that you are so upset. But I am glad that MK is working with you to make the best of it.
I guess you need to understand that there are many styles of photography out there and not all are for everyone. I LOVE my 'soft focus' shots and my high-speed shots. Some brides hate those types of shots.
Did you tell MK that you didn't want any of those shots?
I think that is why when you chose a vendor you need to very clearly communicate your ideas and hopes with them (not just photos, I mean all of your vendors).
Also, if your mom was so upset perhaps they didn't think taking a shot at that time was really a good idea. MK's studio is a lot more about the 'non-posed' stuff unless you specifically ask them for those shots. In regards to the dip&kiss shot- I actually made it a huge point for Scott and I to do those shots. Scott and I spoke about certain shots prior to the wedding and I even printed out samples and gave them to the photographers the day before the wedding and said, 'These are some examples of shots we hope to get'. Now I didn't get all of those because the moment had to happen in order for it to be captured on film though.
I also made sure to make time for posed shots since I knew that my mom and stepmom wanted those shots for their albums. Did you discuss the desiree for posed shots with the studio?

Do the re-take and you will have the photos that you want at least.

Michele- actually, I did take time and I knew what I was getting, but thanks for letting me know I should've communicated w/ a vendor. I don't mind the soft lens, but my husband hates them. A part of me feels that I let him down. He loves the cadid & b&w ones, so that makes him happy.
I wouldn't mind a candid of my Mom and I - if it existed. NOt for nothing, that's a standard picture that MK studios dropped the ball on. They knew CLEARLY that we're both only children & pictures w/ our Mom's were important. I didn't just show up and not say anything to my photographer. I'm sorry you used Mark and have the need to defend him. Point is simply- they F'ed up.
I was really upset over this matter, and expressed it. MK is going to make it up, it's not the same, but I'll take what I can get.

My Mother fought long and hard to make it to my wedding day- in the grand scheme of life- that's all that really matters to me. I'll remember sharing a dance w/ her & how I've never seen her smile that way. Someone sent me an FM saying the best pictures are in my mind. TRUE! Thanks for you input though-

I am not really defending MK or his photographers.
I don't have a vested interest in his studio or business. So that is not the point at all.
I think you have a very important lesson for other girls to learn. That is how I learned about printing out sample photos before hand- someone wrote that they missed certain shots on their day and they wished that they had done it. So I think you have a lesson to pass onto other brides to be. So I think it is important to let other girls know if you want those dip shots or even a certain posed shots make a list and make sure the photographers know about it their importance to you.

I wouldn't think you let your DH down at all. I mean, you both have photo styles that you like. I think that is better than only one person having the photos that they want. And IMO it is nice to have a mix of styles anyway so you can see your day thru different styles.

I think the photographers should have taken photos of your mom and with your mom. There is no question about that. Being only children doesn't make that more or less important IMO. Parents are part of your wedding day no matter what.

I hope that your next set of photos come out like you would like them to and that you have the photos you want.

Michele- being an only child certainly doesn't make it any more important to take pictures w/ the 'Mom's'. It's just easier- it's not like I had 4 siblings and all kinds of variations, I only had 1. He only had 1- and they missed them both.

You are right though, it's important to learn how to get exactly what you want. I thought I had done that. I gave examples of their own photographs to show what I wanted. I do not have a single shot of me in my dress w/ the train attached. Why? I thought I took some? Most of my pictues are from the waist up- some are of all of us, but mostly, the waist up. How come every set of proofs I looked at had the bride in every pose etc.. length- dress, veil, no veil- you could imagine... ME- they missed it. I'll get over that though.

They have to make up my Mom & me, and his Mom w/ him. To our Mom's- we are their only children & it is different.. not more special- just different.

I think the sampling of pictures you shared are beautiful. The way you spoke at first I thought they would be horrible. Be thankful you have so many to choose from. I had 265 to choose from and that includes triples of many shots and blurry ones I can't use.
