My FIL is visiting with us this weekend so we're going out to have dinner somewhere here in Astoria

Tomorrow we're going to Hoboken, NJ to have brunch with my sister then we're taking my FIL to Pio Pio for his birhtday dinner

Sunday we're having a birthday party for FIL at our place

Busy busy busy

Ooo where in astoria? or just gonna pick a random place. L'incontra is great but you need reservations and gets too packed. 718 is awesome

We're actually going to Piccolo Venezia tonight but we love L'incontra, the one near the corner of Ditmars and 31st right?

Oooo great choice, i was actually going to say piccolo and after i posted i said AHHH how can i forget piccolo, but i was leaving. I would say Piccolo and L'incontra are the best ones in astoria.

DH and I just went to Piccolo on Tuesday night. To celebrate finding out what we were having. I love it there. And I live right near L'Incontro....like super-close.

Lucky you....if we lived that close we would be there like crazy I think...Piccolo and L'Incontro are definitely the BEST Italian restaurants we've ever been too! My FIL's too, everytime he comes from Florida to visit us he makes THE request to visit either one

We used to go to L'Incontro all the time a few years ago...but when we started saving for the wedding we had to cut back obviously. But we picked up again afterwards and now we're there again all the time....it's great though cause they know us there so it almost feels like family when we go. I'm so going to miss it when we move.

DH though thinks the Osso Bucco at Piccolo is the BEST he's ever eaten in his life. I wouldn't know but I trust his judgement.

My husband had the Osso Bucco and he is nuts about it too. Are you leaving Astoria? We'll be moving soon too and we're upset and we'll miss all the great restaurants dearly. But we promised that we'll always make time to come and dine here.

We are and I'm so sad. I'm going to miss it so much...maybe we'll be back. We're actually moving into the city, just for 2 years, we got a great deal through my BIL and it will save us alot of money so we can continue saving to buy something. Also, it's a better fit spacewise with the baby coming, its still a one bedroom but it's roomier than what we have now and it's laid out better. But, it's only temporary. Hopefully in that time frame we can save enough to buy a house somewhere.

sounds like its definitely a better situation for you. I moved from astoria a few years ago but still always in astoria, so you can still visit the restaurants. I know alot of ppl who live in the city but come to astoria to go to l'incontro or piccolo, whenever i mention astoria to those who lived in the city their whole life they always bring up these 2 places. Back in the days it used to be eli's fish, even when i met Jeter it was funny bc when i said i was from astoria, he was like Ooohhh thats where eli's fish is right, good fish, so that was surprising.

For us i guess its also easy to come back to astoria bc we both have family still there, dh's parents still live there, plus alot of friends so we meet them there.
