chances are both parties will overlap entirely. But yes my husband should definitely be there for the entire thing and represent us. I will try to make as best an effort as I can. If they have a get together at their house after the party then later on in the evening I can go to their house and see my nephew.

If it were me, I would definetely go to my friends shower. You both seem very close friends that you both had each other in your weddings. She also seemed like she went out of her way to do nice things for your shower too. I wouldnt even upset myself about who understands or who doesnt, this is a very close friend of yours. Even though it is your husbands nephew's function, I personally feel if they fall on the same day that you should be at your friends shower.

I would be torn too, but I would probably go to the shower and let DH represent us at the communion (I would try to stop in at the party or at some other point that day/weekend to see the nephew).
Yup!!

I agree with all of you. She is a close friend and I have to go to her shower. She did a lot for mine. My SIL has a best friend that she would jump off a bridge for if asked, so she knows what's its like to have a close friend.

I would go to the shower as well, because you are a part of the BP.

I agree with what everone else has said. Go to the shower. We just had this issue this past weekend. One of friends baby showers was on Saturday and one of our other friends had their child's baptism. The girls went to the shower and our spouses went the the baptism. It was fine

I just hope I don't upset the in-laws. There is nothing I can really do about it. I grew up with my friend and have known her for over 20 years! She was there for me when she was in my bridal party and now I have to be there for her and that's just the way I see it. Thank you ladies for all of your advice.Welcome New Vendors
