I have been putting this off because there is so much to write and I really just needed a break from the whole wedding thing. We did have an amazing time and I’m so sad that it is over, but at the same time relieved that I can now be relaxed and stressed free at least until we buy a house or have kids. =)
Jason and I met on Myspace.com at the end of July 2006. We had talked on the phone for a week or two before we met. We finally decided to meet in August and both felt a connection and decided to start dating. In July of 2008, we booked the Swan Club before actually getting engaged. He proposed 2 days before our 2yr anniversary in August. We originally wanted a March 2010 wedding, but the gardens at the Swan Club were so amazing that we wanted to make sure the flowers would be in our pictures, so we booked November 6th 2009 instead. I became obsessed with the colors brown, orange and cream. It worked out prefect for a fall wedding.

DH actually introduced me to this site. I really don’t know what I would have done without it!

First thing I have to say about this vendor is we DID NOT use them as our florist for the wedding. The owners of this shop were friends with DH and his family. It's very cute and has different look to a flower shop. They offered it to us because at that time they were thinking of renting out the place for parties. It has a full kitchen and the place was perfect for the look that I was looking for.

Bridal Shower
My mom and MOH threw my shower at my MOH’s house. It was the hottest day of the summer and very humid. They thought it might rain, so they left the gifts in the house until I was ready to open them. They went above and beyond to make it special. It was suppose to be a surprise, but some conversations gave me clues and kind of gave it away. It was also catered by Salpino III Italian Deli and again everyone loved the food. Again, we rented the tables, chairs and tent from them. My MIL got the cake, not sure from where. I’m glad they picked the colors they did and not the wedding colors. I was very happy with the way everything came out.

We worked with April, who now is in Bay Shore. She was a pleasure and didn’t try to push any other rings on us. We knew what we wanted. My engagement ring was his grandmother’s stone and the setting was from the Commack Jewelry exchange. I wanted the same size stones in my wedding band and Kay’s was the only place I could find it in.

I know people have heard stories about this place, but a few of the BMs and my MOH used them and they were happy. The day I started looking I had gone to 2 other places first and did not find anything. This was the last place and the last dress I tried on. My mom and MOH loved it on me. The dress was from the Mori Lee Blu Collection. I ordered it in Feb 09 and it came in by May, but it was way too big! They ordered me a new one which was fine with me because I still had time, but I really didn’t have anywhere to store for the summer, LOL. When the new one came in it was still too big, but I was ok with it, because I knew I needed alterations anyway. End result, I was happy with the dress, the seamstress did a wonderful job.
We got the BM dresses, MOH dress and all the tuxedos from there. I purchased my veil in August and received $100 off because I got my dress from there.

Hotel for OOT guests

We went this hotel for two reasons. First, it’s kind of new and the rooms were very clean and cozy. I did a few surprise visits just because I read some reviews of other hotel having the rooms dirty and stuff. I would go see our room and one of the guest rooms. They were always clean and neat. The second reason was because it was close to both of our parents houses. I know you always pick something close to the RH, but since was got married on a Friday, I knew if my DH’s family would stay the whole weekend and be visiting. Since his family is in Ronkonkoma I didn’t want them stuck out in Nassau for the weekend. Plus I rented a limo for the guests to be picked up and dropped off from the hotel to the Swan Club so they would not have to worry about the long drive. I did have one problem with them. A few of our guest call and were told that the block of rooms we had were sold out and they were have to upgrade. When I called to find out how many people had book, I was told only 2. We blocked out 10 rooms. I decided to call and pretended to be a guest to trying to book with our reservation code and was told they were booked out. The next day I went down to the Wingate and met with Jessica the manager and told what I did. She was very quick to apologize and gave us a discounted price for our room and the guest’s rooms. I was happy with that. DH stayed at the hotel the night before with a few of the guys. All the men got ready there and thought our suite was a great size. They weren’t in each other’s way.

My mom did not want to wear brown. When she tried on the dress I knew it was the one. You could see it in her eye that she was in love with it! We used the seamstress that they recommended and had a few problems, but at the end everything came out prefect.

I did not go with my MIL to get her dress, I told her to get whatever she felt comfortable in. She stopped in there one day and walked out with her dress. I thought dress was perfect for her. She looked great in it!

Lola Loves Make-up – Andrea – A+

I had two trials done with other vendors before meeting Andrea. They just didn’t get the look that I wanted and I wasn’t happy. Andrea is a mac artist and does amazing work. She knew actually want I wanted. I had the airbrush done and it did not feel heavy at all. My makeup lasted all night. Everyone loved my lashes. My mom, MOH and 2 BM got their makeup done also and looked amazing! I highly recommend Andrea!










Rijon Hair Salon – A+

Suzette has been doing my hair for years. I trust her and I knew she would be able to do my hair without any problems. She also did my mom’s hair. My SIL and MIL used her too for hair and Make-up. The only reason I did not use her for makeup is because I wanted airbrush and she only does traditional. They had never been to the salon before, but I knew Suzette would do great job on them. Their makeup and hair came out awesome.

We meet with 3 florists before we made a decision. When we first meet with Arlene, I knew right away that she knew what I was looking for. My MOH used them for her wedding and the flowers were beautiful. Once I saw the sample centerpiece, I was sold! 2 weeks before the wedding, I realized that I didn’t want to use the centerpieces in the ceremony. I went to Arlene and told her I wanted more of a romantic feeling to the room and if we could use candles instead. We worked it that I would have 2 candelabras that had about 10 candles on each of them at the front of the aisle with a large bouquet of roses with hydrangeas and on every 3rd row we would have small bouquets of roses with hydrangeas. The day of I got a call while I was getting my hair and my SIL told me that guy was delivering the flowers. He wasn’t supposed to be there for another 2 hours. When I got back to my mom’s house, I fell in love with the bouquets, but notice that the flowers for the men were wrong. The guys were supposed to have orange roses; instead they sent these tiny little red Cymbidium Orchids. I called and spoke to Jimmy and told him want I had received, he agreed with me that they were wrong. He also turned to the guy who made them and asked “what flowers did you send?” the guys said “orchids”. Jimmy couldn’t believe he said that when the paperwork said roses. By the time I got the Swan Club the correct flowers arrived and we got to keep the little orchids. Regina, my DOC, put the rose and orchids on the guys and it looked great! As I was outside taking pictures I saw the guys delivering the centerpieces and they did not look like the sample. Regina knew right away that they are missing A LOT of roses. She went over and showed them the picture I gave her and the guys starting fixing them. The driver also went up to my dad and said they should be tipped by the FOB, ***? As I was walking to the bridal suite to get ready for the ceremony, my DOC came over to me and said that the candelabras were delivered without candles, but my bridal attendant helped her find 10 candles sticks. Even though we needed 20, it worked out fine. My guests didn’t even notice. The end result, none of our guests knew what happen. Only DH and I knew that the centerpieces should have had more flowers, but they still came out beautiful and I was reimbursed for the candelabras. I’m giving a B just because I LOVED how the bouquets came out. I loved the colors in my bouquet. Originally I was going to do all ivory and have it cascading, but two weeks before I told Arlene I wanted color and it was suppose to be round like the girls just bigger. I guess someone didn’t change it on the paperwork, but it didn’t matter, I was very happy with the cascading bouquet.

I had to have a runner. We did try not to tell anyone because some people think it’s not necessary. Cherin did an amazing job with our monogram. Everyone loved the runner. The quality of the fabric was great! We had great commutation through email and she is the very sweet and easy to work with. We had a saying in the middle and our monograms on the ends. We used it as a table runner after the ceremony. I would high recommend using her!

was an absolute pleasure to work with, from our first point of contact all the way through the day of. I don't think I could have gotten through the day without her. At first I didn’t think I needed anyone to help me, but as it was getting closer to our wedding I realized that I could use some help on the day of. I didn’t need anyone with me in the morning helping me get ready or someone to stay until the end. I just needed someone to oversee my details that I worked hard on to make sure it would all be set up the way I pictured them. I hire her for 5hrs to help make sure all my details were in place. DH and I agreed that we wanted her at the Swan Club around 3pm because that would be the time we arrived and she left after the best man speech. Our bridal attendant said she was the easier and nicest DOC she had ever worked with.

Regal Bridal Limos A-

This was the last vendor we booked. I think DH called very limo company on the island and this one had the best prices. We need a p/u for the guys at the hotel (they had the hummer) and a p/u at my parent’s house for the girls, both around 2:30 (we had the Expedition). We needed a p/u around 4 from the hotel for our guest also and at the end of the night we need the Hummer to come back to pick all of us up. The girls were picked up on time, we may have been running a little late, but once we were on the LIE, the driver was speeding and switching in and out of lanes. I had to tell him that I was freaking out and to slow down. Also, there was whole mix up at the end of the night. I told Bob from Regal that we need to be picked up at the end of the night @ 11:30, because the wedding ended at 11. We needed time to get everything packed up. The driver left around 11:10 with only 2 guests. Why would use a hummer for 2 guests??? It was a really big inconvenience especially that my other hotel guests, half my bridal party, my parents and us, had to wait until a little after midnight for the truck to come back. I also was told by the driver that came back that the only way he could have returned faster was if he was on a plane!! I didn't need that remark after a long night. I sent them an email we were offer the Hummer at no charge for a night out. We took it. My birthday was on the 27th and we got some friends together and went to the city for dinner. I gave this vendor an A- because Bob, who is the person we dealt with, was very nice and understanding. It was a pleasure working with him. I also recommended them to a friend prior to the wedding that needed a limo ASAP and Bob helped them out. They were very happy with the service. We also requested that Bob be the driver on our night on the town and he was. The limos were clean and in great condition.

We took our time trying to find the right hall. We didn’t want to rush at the first nice one we saw. We probably looked at about 12-15 different halls on long island. My MIL actually told us to look at the Swan Club because she had her sweet 16 & prom there. When we first got there all we had to do as walk the grounds and we fell in love. We knew that this place was the one for us. The flowers, ponds, waterfalls and walkways make this place special. They also had a beautiful pavilion in the back where they have their wedding ceremonies. We thought it was going to be out of our budget but were amazed when it was actually much lower than anyone else. Joe was our matre’d because we had the Camelot room. He was always very courteous and never stopped helping us to make sure our time there was a memorable one. We lucked out because we were the only event in the building that night so the place was ours. The wait staff and bridal attendant were very friendly and very accommodating to all of our guests. We also had our ceremony there and the set up was actually what I wanted. Our guests kept coming up to us throughout the night raving about the variety of foods and amazing everything tasted in the cocktail hour. We never got down to our cocktail hours because of pictures, but we did have some of the food from the cocktail hour and it was very good. I couldn’t imagine a better place to have our wedding and we love the choice we made. I would recommend them to anyone!!!!!!




Leonetti's Bakery-A++
The Swan club showed us some of the cakes they offered but it were only a whipped icing. I really wanted fondant. Their bakery was Leonetti’s, which ended up being right down the road. We made an appointment to see the baker and he showed us everything he had. We picked a sponge cake with yellow and chocolate sponge but once they made us a sample cake and we tried it we were not totally satisfied. So we went back made a few changes and now we decided to go with an all yellow sponge with chocolate mousse & cream with cut up strawberries (not sure on the exact name) We had fondant icing around it with very detailed designs. They made us a sample and we loved it. The day of the wedding, the cake was already there before we arrived and had no issues with Leonetti’s. They were very helpful and the baker did everything possible to make us the cake we wanted most. I would highly recommend them to anyone.







L.I.Nights Enertainment

This was the only vendor that we didn’t read any reviews on. He was recommended by the owners of Colonial Flower Shop. We meet with him twice and booked him. I was getting a little nervous because I was on LIWeddings.com all the time and kept reading reviews on other vendors. I felt that maybe I did the wrong thing by booking someone without actually reading about them, but that sure change the day of the wedding. Chad was our MC and our DJ was Frankie. They were AMAZING!!! They had all ages out on the dance floor and everyone talked about them. Chad was great on the microphone having complete control over the night and knew exactly how to get everyone on the dance floor. They played all of our songs that we requested and I can’t say I have heard a better DJ mixing all the songs into each other and knowing when to go for a fast song or a slow one to keep the crowd interested. We took a gamble and we hit the Jackpot with Chad!!!!!!!

The gifts were from coach and the gift bags were from www.exclusivelyweddings.com. They were on clearance at that time. I just looked now and they have a something like it on sale. The names came on the bags, but it was just written on there with a calligraphy pen.
