3/16/13 Estate at East Wind wedding

Venue: The Estate at East Wind, Wading River A+

East Wind did a remarkable job. Everything was perfect. Scott, the Maitre De for the Estate, is awesome. He truly wants to make your day as personal and fantastic as he possibly can. There were a few things that DH wanted that I didn’t think would fly (bringing in our own cocktail concoction for the ice luge, hanging a thank you banner made by a friend by the valet, etc) but Scott accommodated everything without even a blink of the eye. When the ice luge didn’t show, Scott brought out beautiful punch containers and made a sign for our homemade drink. Honestly, I was a little annoyed with my bridal attendant bc I felt that she didn’t do much for me but then DH said that was bc I was hopping all around the dance floor. I guess maybe that was correct. Family members seemed content with her so I guess that was good. Minor things: we had cupcakes instead of a cake bc we did the extended Viennese hour. I was told by the BM that the cupckaes would be placed on a stand with our cake topper and top cake tier on the top of the cupcake stand. That didn’t happen so it looked a little weird and confused some guests. Minor though. Another minor issue which thankfully Ken Hild saved the day was pictures in the main building. This was my MAIN concern. I wanted pics on that staircase and in that building and said that from day one. I asked a million times about other weddings. There was one other wedding in the Veranda room. I asked several times on the days leading up to the wedding if this would be an issue and everyone assured me no. However, I did not believe them and TG I didn’t if we didn’t go there directly from the church, we wouldn’t have gotten them. We were kicked out of the main building after getting some pics bc the other bride had the rights to it. I could have returned later that night... and miss part of my wedding. Thanks Ken for being pushy!

Ken is great. He comes off as super laid back and at times I was like does this guy really know what he is doing? DOW though, he was awesome. He was professional and dare I say, anal, in getting the shots he wants. From my previews, I think I am going to be super happy. Chris was our second photog and he was wonderful as well. He cracked jokes and made us feel super comfy. I truly felt like I was hanging out with friends and not some random guys I met only a few short times.

DJ: Vide Productions/VP Events, Hicksville C

This was my DH’s friends company. DOW they were awesome. They threw in so many extras and the dance floor was hopping all night long. Listened to my requests that day. I was annoyed that I sent them the special song list and BP entrance 3 times and yet on the wedding day I had to write it out once again. Also, we tipped them super well, being they were friends and hooked us up, we knew we needed to do right by them and did. However, they also requested a hotel room which I held under my credit card and they were told to change it out once they got there. They never did. DH asked for the money to cover, sent a check after several weeks, which bounced. I am so mad at the lack of professionalism.

Limos: East Coast Limos: A

Great job. We did the 3 hour package. They upgraded my limo for free. No complaints.

Flowers: Shoreham Florist, Shoreham : A

I wasn’t really into flowers and didn’t want to pay a lot. I wanted candle centerpieces and knew I could get the glassware on my own for so much cheaper but needed flowers for the vases. This was the only florist that would work with me with somewhat of a reasonable price. I felt bc it was a smaller shop, without as much overhead, I was able to get a better price but still have a quality product. Everything was gorgeous and we got a lot of compliments on the centerpieces. I really felt like it added warmth to the room.

Dress: Bridal Reflections, Massapequa: A+
I loved it here. I always felt like a princess. I went to many places before finding “the one”. Jodi insisted I try on this dress in spun gold. It was hideous on the hanger but once I tried it on, it was gorgeous. They had the plus size version in the color I wanted and needed a visual before taking the plunge. Jodi tried her best to pin it around me. Loved it. There were no problems at all with anything. It came in well before they said, alterations were a dream (it was hollow to hem so minimal alterations).

Honeymoon: Excellence Playa Mujeres, Mexico B
It’s not really the hotel’s fault, just wasn’t what we were looking for. It was toooooo quiet. There was nothing included with this all-inclusive place in the way of activitites. I was used to Sandlas where everything was included and was disappointed that it was all extra. Arriving was a bit of a wait, even with the private check-in – still about 3 hours. Rooms are spacious and gorgeous, pools are nice and food was good for me, DH had a harder time bc he is more of a meat and potatoes man but he made do. Desserts were lacking. Breakfast perfect for eating light and healthy. Lunch menu in sit down restaurants better than their dinner menus!! Drinks were delicious. Weather also wasn’t in our favor which ****** a little bc when we did book excursions we had to cancel bc IDC what they try to say, it is not fun in 70 degrees and rain! Nightlife is sparce. A couple good shows but then everyone goes to bed. One comedian actually put me to bed!

Hair and Make Up: Make and Make up Studio, Babylon A
They did a GREAT job. I was so happy with how I looked. I neber in my life felt prettier than I did on my wedding day. However my look did come with a hefty price tag. I def paid for what I got. My other issue which is why they couldn’t get the + is that I specified in the contract who should be seeing who. They did not abide by that and I did not realize until it was too late that my mother was not able to see the MU artist who did mine bc she was leaving. Mom saw someone else and she came out great but I was bummed that they made such a big deal by being specific as to who sees who and then they didn’t even follow the plan.
Shoes: Sandy’s Shoes, Massapequa A
I wanted sensible shoes that would last all day. I had a hollow to hem dress so I was stuck with that height. I easily found a pair at Sandy’s and they literally lasted until about ½ hour before the end of the reception. My flip flops were locked away in my hotel room so I kicked them off and danced bare foot! A girl’s gotta do what a girls gotta do!

Shower: Irish Coffee Pub, Islip A

They did a great job. Loved it here. Such a great atmosphere. No complaints.

Rehearsal Dinner: Oceans 5, Shoreham A+

They went above and beyond for us. Melissa made us centerpieces wrote up a menu for us. The food is delicious, martinis to die for (although they weren’t included in our price). Cannot say enough good things about this place.

Yes, I did a dance with mom and then dad. For mom I used 'in my daughters eyes'
