Jericho Terrace Review (8/14/11)

Disclaimer: This review is from a wedding party guest's perspective from this past Sunday in August (aka Floody Sunday). I do not know any of the staff names, nor do I know any of the vendors. I am speaking only about Jericho Terrace.

First of all, JT was my first choice until I went to Westbury Manor, so this place has a special spot in my heart.

Food: My dinner food was delicious. I got the beef. It was quite succulent. The potato ball and creamed spinach was a good addition. The appetizers were good as well. There were a few I didn't particularly care for, (grilled beef, chicken picata, oxtail) but hey, you can't like everything. There was sooooooooooo much food during cocktail hour (and there was more food in the bridal site), I actually thought that was our dinner. It was like those medieval tables you see in the movies where food is everywhere.

Cake: It was good. If Im not mistaken, I believe a cake comes with the wedding package. It was your typical wedding cake, nothing special. I was more a fan of the ice cream in the canoli shell.

Bar: Excellent top shelf liquor. The bartenders speak to you and get to know you. The bartenders are very skilled at what they do. I also liked their tipping system with just a dollar on the table. I hate bars where there is a big basket of 1s in front of your face, imploring you to tip. The system here was nice and subtle. The one thing I didn't like was that the drinks were kind of watery and there were only 2 wines (one red, one white).

Service: The service is impeccable. They really take care of you. The staff for the BP is there to make you happy. They are really on point and efficient. There are hall traffic directors, that direct you to where you need to go. My date's flower fell off his lapel, and they fixed it without a problem. They get extra points for that. The only bad portion was the dinner service. I worked at a catering hall in him school, so I may have noticed a lot more than most, but I don't think our server was not that great. I can't speak for all, but I was not a fan of her work rate. For one, she took thing so quickly, I get up, dance, my salad is gone. I get up, dance again, my coffee is gone. There was that among other little things.

Setting: That was the biggest issue with me. This place is a factory. As we were coming in, there was one party leaving. While we were walking in, another party was beginning. During the first hour, another party arrived. I don't know if the brides encountered each other, but there is a high possibility. Heck, I didn't even like all the wedding guest interaction myself. When we were taking pictures in the foyer, another party was arriving, observing. It felt like a shopping mall in there. Maybe the rain concentrated everyone inside, but I still didn't like that feeling. Number 2, some of the sound blended into the different halls at times. During cocktail hour, we felt the vibrations from another party going on. In its defense, it didn't go on all night, but I may not have noticed.

Overall, it was a great experience. The staff really know what they're doing and the food was on point. But I really disliked the factory feel.
