My 3/19/04 review!!
Well, like four inches of snow was predicted for our day, but I'm happy to say that it snowed in the morning, but by the time of the ceremony, the sun was out and shining and beautiful!!!!Aside from the fact that 'Here Comes the Bride' was played for EVERYBODY(!) processing down the aisle, the ceremony was absolutely perfect and very touching, if I do say so!
OK, now some vendor reviews...
HAIR/MAKEUP: CHRISTIE AND CO. (Bay Terrace) *A* Bella did my hair and Lisa did my makeup and both looked incredible. My SIL was convinced I had some kind of a hair piece because Bella turned my very curly hair into a beautiful updo in barrel curls.
DRESS: CHARISOL BRIDAL (Flushing) *B* We had a couple of glitches (my dress didn't come in until four weeks before and they forgot to send me home with the crinoline which we had to pick up the day of the wedding) but they were very accomodating and the dress (which was a Moonlight) was perfectly form-fitting. Oh, actually, my bustle had three buttons and the middle one fell out towards the end of the night, but by that point I was too busy dancing to care!!!
VEIL/HEADPIECE : TRI-COUNTY *A* I recommend Tri-County to anyone looking for inexpensive yet beautiful veils, etc. My headpiece was one of my favorite parts of being a bride...I wish I could wear it every day!!
PHOTO: PATKEN (Vinny) *A* We should be getting our proofs in a week or ten days, so I'll know better then, but Vinny was great. Very low key, not 'in-your-face' and professional. The pictures were over well in time for the bridal party to attend the cocktail hour and otherwise, we barely knew he was around which is exactly what we were hoping for.
LIMO: DESIGNER *D* Well, this was the only aspect of the wedding that was a disappointment. Our driver did not help me at all getting into or out of the limo (which is a pretty challenging affair in a wedding gown!!) I banged my head attempting to maneuver this solo and I was basically pretty uncomfortable the whole ride to the church, which, thankfully was very short. He never even opened the door for me! Also, he comes out of the church while I was waiting in the car to tell me (with an attitude) that I didn't specify that I would be needing a long runner and that he only brought the 75 ft one instead of the 100ft. What could I do...I just told him whatever, just roll the thing out! However, I can't really complain since this was such a short part of the day and if this was the only problem, I am very thankful.
FLOWERS: GEORGWOOD (Bayside) *A* Incredible!!! My bouquet was a solid red and the girls' were a combination of reds, blues and purples and we got so many compliments on all of them. Our centerpieces were bubble bowls and the flowers complimented the girls' bouquets as well as the bamboo favors we had on the tables. He threw in the flowers for the cake for free and even decorated our table with rose petals and it looked amazing!!!
DJ: SPIN AROUND SOUND *A* The music was excellent. Tom and Rio were our MC/DJ and were very professional and super-friendly. We got compliments from everyone...even from my cranky, Archie Bunker next-door neighbor...he loved them!! They played our parents' wedding songs as a surprise and they were so touched. We had also requested some pretty obscure jazz songs for the cocktail hour and the dinner and we were amazed that we heard them!! I definitely recommend them if you are not into a guido-y, loud, club-like atmosphere...and absolutely no group dances (Electric slide, etc.) or calling people up on the dance floor incessantly. Very professional and mature!
WEDDING NIGHT HOTEL: HARRISON MANOR HOUSE: *A* Beautiful! We had a nice relaxing soak in the jacuzzi the next morning and the breakfast is included...omelettes, waffles, sausage, yogurt, etc...you name it!
WESTBURY MANOR *A+++++++++* I saved this for last. They are the best!!!!! You cannot believe how many people were in awe of this place. Lorena and Raul were the bridal attendant and maitre d' and their service was beyond compare. We had drinks flowing the whole night not only for DH and I, but also at all the tables. We had the seven choice menu and people were totally blown away. I must admit, I didn't really eat anything, but everyone's first comment was how delicious everything was. I'll have to go back for dinner!!! I never went back to the suite the entire night...Lorena brought me everything I needed whenever I needed it. At the end of the night, they brought everything out to the car for us and they gave us the top layer of our cake in a box with 'Happy first anniversary Erin and Peter 3/19/05!! Love, Lorena, Raul and the Westbury Manor' printed on it and we also got a bag with two t-shirts saying 'Just Married at the Westbury Manor' and bottle of champagne....How nice is that!!!!
I would do it all over again just for this place. If you are getting married there, just know that I'm very jealous of you!!!
HONEYMOON...to be continued...off to Italy in July (I'm a teacher)...
WOW, I can't believe after nine months of planning that it's all over. We had an excellent time and several people told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to. A BIG THANK YOU to all of you on this site that made my engagement and wedding planning that much easier and more enjoyable!!!
P.S. I hope to have pictures soon for all of you...

Re: My 3/19/04 review!!
sounds like you had a great time! it's funny about the 'here comes the bride' song - i had the same problem - they started playing it when my flower girl started down the isle. my sister(MOH) still had to walk down also. it ate at me for the next two weeks. i still think about it sometimes. but if thats the only thing that went wrong then thats great.(that was the only problem with my wedding too)congrats!
