My 5-6-12 wedding- Crest Hollow Country Club...etc
My wedding day had its share of ups and downs, but I tried to forget about the negatives and let the good resonate throughout this review. Some people may remember me posting negative things about Crest Hollow's food. In my review, I'll go into more detail, but let it be known that I think they did a fabulous job all-around.St. Margaret's Church- Middle Village, NY- A
Bryan and I started attending this church after we moved out of our parent's houses last year; it's a lot closer to where we live than the church I had known and attended most of my life. As a result, we didn't really know the priest who celebrated our Mass that well, so we had asked a priest from my old church to con celebrate. He was delighted and smiled throughout the ceremony. The Monsignor who married us didn't 'pronounce' us husband and wife or cue my husband to kiss me, so it was a little awkward and funny at the end when Bryan asked me, 'Am I supposed to kiss you?'
Crystal Coach Limos A+++++++++
These guys were recommended by Bryan's boss. I thought our quote was very reasonable, and the owner of the company was easy to reach by phone and always willing to answer our questions. On the day of the wedding, both my limo and the bridesmaid's limo showed up early after one of them dropped off the groomsmen at the church. Both drivers were very personable, funny and able to calm my pre-wedding jitters. Driver's names were John and Dominic, and I wrote their very first yelp review (a very, very positive one!)
Village Florist- C
We were recommended by DH's aunt, and were given such a great price, how could we pass it up? They were also the vendor that we had struggled to use as our RH had a very strict policy with florists. Since this florist didn't have a fax machine, we had to pick up and drop off the waiver and insurance; this after the florist insisted that he never heard of anyone needing insurance! One the day of the wedding, the flower delivery was an hour early and missing the father's boutineers. My Mom was a little snappy to him and demanded that he go to a local florist and pick two of them up right away or else. The tulips in the centerpieces were supposed to be opened up and dyed blue, but a lot of them were still closed, and it was a poor dye job.
High Energy Entertainment- A
Ralph from High Energy was very receptive to all of our requests, and gave us the option of playing the discs we handed him or 'feeling out the crowd' and switching music. We had several songs played for both sets of parents, the bridal party, best man and maid of honor, and us, and everything blended well (this was one thing I was anxious about). My only criticism was that the mother/son and father/daughter songs were played so late in the evening, that some people had already left.
Crest Hollow Country Club- A
We went through 3 banquet managers: Sharon, Costanza and Thomas. In the grand scheme of things, who cares, because our big interactions were only towards the coming weeks before the wedding, and Thomas was outstanding with organizing our menu, table seating, and answering all of my groomzilla's questions from his iPhone notes. When we entered the lobby, we were escorted to the bridal suite, where Mike and Martine were introduced by one of the managers. We were treated to fruit and cheese and beer/wine soft drinks before being directed to the gazebo area for pictures. I really, really wanted pictures by the pool, but Martine said that a party were having their outside cocktail hour. After pictures, we were whisked back in the golf cart and given some time in the bridal suite for cocktail hour fare before going into our cocktail hour. Thomas did a great job securing the room overlooking the South Beach area, and our guests enjoyed the views from the Upper Terrace Room before going into the Empire Room for the reception. Now on to the maitre'd and bridal attendant: Mike was amused by our pick for our prank dance, the 58 second song Twist by Korn, saying that that was awesome and they were his favorite band. Martine made sure I didn't trip over my annoying train, and was available for little things like spray deodorant for the groom and leftover cake for both of us. And she wasn't overbearing like I heard some bridal attendants can be. Our guests said they were amazed by not only the cocktail hour food, but the entree menu selection (7 choices as opposed to 3 in most places).
Photographer- acquaintance- B-
Our photographer gave us all 1,600 pictures taken that day from a flash drive so that we had ownership over them as opposed to paying for copies. She had used two cameras that day, and unfortunately, most of the pictures from her second camera came out really grainy. However, she did get some fabulous shots, and I'm glad we didn't wind up spending $3,000 on a photographer.
I attached some pictures below:
