My Big Fat Irish Wedding review

I kept meaning to do this sooner but was caught up with work and stuff at home.

Hair: Dimensions Hair Salon, East Rockaway.
The owner has become a good friend over the years. From nails to waxing to hair (cut/color) she is wonderful. She's professional and knows her stuff. Highly recommend.

Dress: Demetrios, Macy's Bridal Salon, NYC:
As many here know I hated my first dress. It just wasn't 'me'. I went to the Macys' in Herald Sq. and found the dress I ended up wearing - a sample (but a new one) and the store mgr was so nice to arrange for me not to pay the balance on the first dress so I lost a bit of money but saved a bit too. Well worth it. The seamstress at the Macy's in NYC - she's OK - I was mad that they didn't have it ready when they said they would (too loose in the chest and not hemmed) but I also made sure my 2nd fitting was well enough in advance so I would have a week or 2 before the wedding if they did screw up. In the end everything was great. Recommended. They only sell Demetrios for bridal gowns (I think a few of another designer too, not sure) but carry other designers for bridesmaids and MOB/MOG dresses.

Undergarments: Georgina's in Hicksville - these ladies know their stuff. Very patient too. Highly recommend.

Veil and headpiece: Baron's in Tri-County flea Market, Levittown: Loved the headpiece. She makes them to order and will custom make them too. If you see a fancy/expensive one in a magazine she'll try to reproduce it for you. And the price is right too. Highly recommend.

Makeup: Denise from Angel Eyes. She did a wonderful job. I had no regrets from the trial, I mentioned some things that I wanted done different like lipstick and she had no problems with that. It stayed on all night. I highly recommend. She is just so nice and waited around and no complaints because I was a bit late at the hair dressers.

Bag: ebags.com - great deal - $20!!

Flowers: Wicks, Baldwin. LOVED THEM. Chris was my contact there. Showed her some pics, we had hour long sessions two or three times, saw a trial centerpiece which was sorta like what I wanted but not completely. Well the CP's at the reception were just like what I had pictured in my mind. I was thrilled. My bo-k was also just what I wanted and the girl's bo-k's were so vibrant in color, I was thrilled. For what I got the price was right. Highly recommend. Delivery person didn't bring the bouts to the front pews, like she was supposed to, and left the bag in the lobby. I called and told Chris that and she dealt with it. Otherwise they were perfect.

Bus: coach usa: well I can't say they did a horrible job. Part of it was my fault for saying to leave 1.5 hours to drive from the hotel to the Church where on a Friday it should have been 2 hours. They got there 15 mins late. BUT the company (and I talked to the same guy there three times) never gave the driver the directions!
Oh and the A/C broke en route but the driver called for another bus which he got while the ceremony was going on. So I hesitantly recommend.

Photographer: Fernando @ Queens Bridal. He was great. The proofs look lovely. However we only got 170 or so proofs. But I will supplement with regular pictures which people have given us. I think our package was one that was for less than 200 proofs. I should have read it more carefully. Both QBC and photographer I would recommend.

Videographer: Aaron also @ Queens Bridal. Have yet to see the video so can't really recommend yet. But he was good from what I could tell, and unobtrusive.

Verdi's of WEstbury : WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL. Food was fantastic. The cocktail room has been redone and it's really nice!!! Everyone raved about the food. The service was remarkable. The maitre d's were fantastic and so was Donna, my bridal attendant. We had a small problem with an usher and they helped us out. And they also drove one of my friends to the LIRR. She went to ask about a taxi co to call and one of them said they would drive her. I was sooo impressed when I found out last week from her. Every time my dad went to pay a deposit they would offer him food, drink, whatever. Totally recommend without a doubt!!!!

Limo: Topps: clean cars, the Rolls driver was very nice. Were also on time.

DJ: In the Mixx. Donnie was our DJ and he's great. They didn't play everything we wanted
but people were still up and dancing the whole night. They did play the irish songs we burned onto a cd for them and that was fun. And Donnie is a fun dj so I didn't mind too much. You can't ask for a certain dj - they decide a few days beforehand. But they are all very nice as I've talked to all of them a few times while dealing with them. Highly recommend.

Cardbox: WeezieNY - a poster on here - makes them and I rented one. It was so pretty! I think we have some pics of it that I have to scan. My firend that got married last night loved it so much she used it too. And another girl that was at that wedding last night wanted to use one for hers! Highly recommend.

Honeymoon: Hawaii. Landed in Maui. Stayed at Hyatt Regency in Ka'anapali Beach for 6 nights. Loved it. Restaurants were great. We did the Old Lahaina Luau, saw a show called Ulalena which was great, dined in the hotel and at other places. Did the sunrise Haleakala volcano tour.

Then did 4 nights in Kauai at the Hyatt too. We did Capt Andy's catamaran tour up the Na'Pali coast - LOVED IT. Saw spinner dolphins, given breakfast and lunch on boat, snorkeled a bit, had a great time. Drove up to Princeville REsort, very nice. Honolulu was nice - typical large city. Didn't do much - walked around and ate at Cheesecake Factory. We stayed at Outrigger on the Reef - the restauarnt was good. Did the Arizona Memorial tour.

Also a shout out to CherylBooch who suggested I call Aloha Destinations to book some of my excursions. I had a guy named Troy (she used him too she said) to book them and he was great - gave me lots of tips too. And we got discounts from them, not on all the tours but a few. Highly recommend.

Re: My review of our 4/30/04 wedding

I had Fernando too. We got about 260 proofs and he was really great to work with. I saw your other post about cropping pics and I don't remember that being an issue. We really didn't crop but we played around with the pics, with no prob.
