My review: Glam Me Up, Angela's Hair Design, A Modern Day Affair, All Star Limos, Flower Barn, In the Mix, Duet, Lillettes, Jericho Terrace

Make up: Glam Me Up- Alyce. Alyce is super sweet and did an amazing job with my makeup and my Maid of Honor’s makeup. I don’t normally wear any makeup so I wanted a natural look and she did I felt so beautiful when she was done with me and the makeup lasted all day and into the night. I emailed Alyce and Kelly (the owner of Glam me Up) a few times during my planning and they always responded within an hour or two.

Hair: Angela’s Hair Design- Angela did a great job on my hair and my Maid of Honor’s hair. I had 2 trials with her during my planning and she was very patient with my indecisiveness. She has become very popular within the past year because she is really talented at what she does.

Day of Coordinator: A Modern Day Affair- Shauna and her assistant Michelle were life savers to us on the day of our wedding. I can’t list all of the things they did, but they were absolutely amazing and we would have been so stressed without their help. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a DOC. And I highly recommend having a DOC if your wedding will be in more than one location.

Limos: All Star Limos- We had a beautiful Rolls Royce and 2 other limos for our bridal party. The cars were all clean and in great shape. My only complaint is that our limo driver was a bit too chatty for our taste. After our ceremony, my new husband and I were so excited to be married and we just wanted to talk to each other in the back of the car and enjoy each other’s company. The limo driver would not stop talking to us and wanted to know what school we went to, if we knew certain people, etc. We didn’t want to be rude so we just tried to keep our answers short thinking he would get the hint, but he would not leave us alone. When we got to the garden, our DOC told him we wanted some private time and he was quiet on the trip back to JT. There was no privacy screen on the rolls Royce unfortunately.

Flowers: Flower Barn- Mike from Flower Barn did a beautiful job on our centerpieces and bouquets. We were very happy with how everything looked.

DJ: In the Mix- We had the owner Jack as our MC and he was great. He has a great personality and lots of energy. I have nothing but good things to say about In the Mix.

Picture location: Clark Botanic Garden- Located in Albertson which is not even 10 minutes away from Jericho Terrace, this garden was a great place to take our pictures. They did charge a fee but it was much less than Old Westbury Gardens wanted. When we arrived, someone met us at the gate and she ran around the 12 acre garden to find us the most colorful picture locations. I was very happy we chose Clark Gardens.

Duet- Our photographers were great the day of the wedding, but they missed a lot of pictures I wanted. They did not get a picture of our invitation (which I specifically gave them the morning of the wedding), they took no pictures of the cocktail hour with the ice sculptures, and only took 2 close up pictures of desserts at our Viennese hour. Our Viennese spread was literally an entire room full of desserts. Our guests were absolutely floored by the spread and I would have loved some wide shots of the room with all the desserts and our guests loading up their take home boxes. They also took no pictures of the dessert boxes that were arranged decoratively on the tables with our personalized stickers on them. More importantly, I was not thrilled with the selection of formal shots they took of us. Out of over 800 proofs, we have about 6 that we are both looking at the camera and smiling. For most of the other formal shots, they had us looking at each other, looking away or kissing. Maybe some people like shots like that, but I would have preferred more clear shots of our faces.

Lilettes Bridal- The staff at Lilettes was wonderful to work with. The store itself is beautiful inside and they really make you feel special when picking out your dress. I decided to add a bolero to my dress only 6 weeks before my wedding and they went out of their way to make sure I had it in time. My seamstress was a sweetheart and did a great job with my alterations.

Jericho Terrace: There is so much to say about JT. First, the food was incredible. People are still raving about the dinner, especially the steak. We didn’t eat our dinner, but we did eat in our bridal suite during the cocktail hour and that food was unbelievable. The Viennese hour desserts were out of this world. We provided bakery boxes for our guests to take home some desserts and they absolutely loved this idea. Everyone told us they had never seen that done before and what a great idea it was. I got a few texts from people the next day saying how excited they were to wake up that morning and have some pastries from the night before.
Our bridal attendants were wonderful and so attentive. Unfortunately our Maître d’ had a bad attitude and was missing for most of the night. I’m not really sure what he did for us because we barely saw him. When he called us into the ballroom to see how everything was set up, we noticed our cake was wrong. It was supposed to have a purple swirl design and instead was all white. He seemed like he could not care less and blamed it on one of the waiters. They took the cake upstairs to “fix” and it looked horrible when it came back. They quickly filled in the white swirls with purple icing and it looked like a 5 year old did it. On the night of the wedding I didn’t really care, but looking at the pictures now, it really looked terrible. The worst part about the cake was that they did not give us any of it to take home. It seems pretty standard that the bride and groom get the top tier of their cake to take home after the wedding. We got none of our wedding cake and when we realized it the next day, we were so upset. I wrote about our disappointment with the cake when I sent JT our comments and have not heard back from them. I guess future brides need to make sure they get a piece of their cake at the end of the night.
