Review of my fabulous May 26th wedding at the Venetian Yacht Club!!!

I enjoyed working with all my vendors. They made the planning process go smoothly.
LIW-A+++++
I am so happy I found this website when I was searching for a venue. I have learned so much from the ladies on this website. I do not think my wedding would have been as fabulous as it was if it were not for the things I learned from LIW. I have met some of the ladies and they are all amazing. A few people I maintain contact with outside of LIW.

Engagement shoot – A+
The photographer I was first booked with did an in studio engagement shoot that I was not impressed with. DH’s friend is an upcoming independent photographer and we asked him to do an engagement shoot for us at a nearby park. He did a great job and gave us all the pics on a CD so we were able to do whatever we wanted with them. We used the pictures for our STDs and guest book.

STDs Vistaprint – A+
I never really ordered things from Vistaprint but I knew of them. During my planning they became one of my favorite websites. I ordered a lot of things from them. One of the first things I ordered was our STDs. I used one the designs they had and uploaded a pic from our engagement shoot. They were magnets and they were beautiful. All my guests loved them and they especially liked that it was a magnet and they used it to put things on their refrigerator.

Bachelorette Party Lucky Cheng’s– A (entertainment/ drinks)/B- (food)
My MOH planned my bachelorette party at Lucky Cheng’s. The original plan was for Vegas but that didn’t work out due to scheduling. We all had a lot of fun. The food was not great but I read that in the reviews so I was not expecting good food I was just looking to have fun. Although the food wasn’t the best it wasn’t horrible; it was still edible. The drag queens were funny and they were very interactive. I’m not into strippers so this was a great alternative.

Wedding bands Diamond Roof Top – Tri County flea market A++++++
We were not sure where to start looking for our wedding bands. I did some research online and on here. A lot of people recommended Tri County. We visited a couple of vendors. We finally went to Diamond Roof Top and meet with Sam. He was wonderful from beginning to end. I was able to find a band that went with my e-ring; it only needed to be sized because my fingers are very slim (4 ¾ size). DH was not sure what he wanted. They had a band he loved however it was yellow gold and we were looking for white gold. Sam told us that he would make it for him. Within 2 weeks he was done. He told us it would take about a month and it took less time. He did a great job. My e-ring was missing a diamond and he said that he would replace it for me at no extra charge. A few days before my wedding I went in to get the rings cleaned including my e-ring. He then also replaced the diamond as well. He also engraved inside both our bands. He would not take a tip for me. He is great and we will continue to go to him for jewelry. I definitely recommend him. He does great work and his prices can’t be beat!

Dresses – David’s Bridal Westbury – A+
I met with a representative from David’s Bridal at a bridal showcase and I set up an appointment just to try on dresses just because. I didn’t think I would find anything there because I have always heard bad things about them. I worked with Brian. And he was great. I ended up finding my dresses on the first day. I had lost weight during the past few years and I wanted to wear something that would show off my body and my curves so I did not want a ball gown. I wanted a trumpet or mermaid wedding gown. Brian listened to what I wanted and bought dresses that fit what I was looking for. I liked them and they all looked good on me but I was not in love with them. There was a dramatic Vera Wang ball gown in a blush pink on a mannequin and I asked him if I could try it on just for fun. I fell in love with the dress. I didn’t want to say yes to the dress because my mom wasn’t there. So I set up an appointment to go for the following weekend. I looked online for other dresses I would like to try on for that appointment. At the second appointment I tried on some of the dresses I tried on during the first appointment and others that I found online. I then tried on the dress that I loved last and I was still in love with it so I said yes to the dress. Since it was a ball gown I wanted a second dress that was more form fitting. I ordered my dress late March and it came in a month later. So I had my dress over a year before my wedding. I kept it stored in a garment bag and closet at my house (David’s Bridal does not hold on to dresses).
I looked at different places and online for a second dress. I was not really able to find something that I loved. One Saturday in January while dress shopping with my BMs my sister suggested that we go to DB to look at a dress I had tried on during my second appointment. We went and I said yes to the second dress. My dress came within a week. I was very satisfied with their services. I’m not sure about other DB locations but I recommend the one in Westbury and the consultant Brian. He is great. He loves what he does.

Alterations – Dolores A++
Alteration was very important to me because I did not want for my dresses to get messed up. My first dress did not need much alterations; it only needed to be hemmed. My second dress needed more work. I was not sure I wanted to use DB’s alteration department so during my research on LIW I found Dolores. She works from her home in Valley Stream. I highly recommend her. She does great work and her prices are very reasonable. She is passionate about her work therefore she assures that her work is done properly and is satisfying to the customer. For my second dress she had to take it in because I lost weight since purchasing it and she had to reconstruct the bottom to my liking. My veil did not have a comb and she put the comb in for me as well. Within 2 weeks both my dresses and veil were ready. I went in for a fitting and everything was perfect so I was able to take my dresses home that day. If anyone is interested FM me and I will send you her contact info.

Bridal party dresses
RK Bridal – A
I knew I wanted my girls in royal blue, mermaid fit dress. I looked online to find dresses that I liked. After making a list of dresses we went to RK Bridal one Saturday morning to try them on. We were able to find the dress – Bari Jay style 207. We weren't show if we wanted to order them from RK Bridal. So I then decided to contact various stores to find out which one had the best price. After calling maybe 5-10 stores/ boutiques Burton’s bridal had the best price. If you have a list of dresses by different designers RK Bridal is a great place to start because you can try everything on at one place as opposed to going all over.

Burton’s bridal – A+
We then set up an appointment to order the dresses. We also ordered the junior BMs and Maid of Honor dresses through them. It’s a very small place. But I would say very personable. We also used them for alterations. They did a great job. All the dresses fit properly and everyone looked beautiful. I would recommend them. I think it’s best to order dresses through them once you know what you are looking for. They do have samples but not as much as RK bridal.

Photography – Patken (Photographer Jarred) A+
I was originally booked with another photography company. I would speak to DH about me not thinking they could take the pictures I want. After speaking to another LIW bride I was convinced that they were not the right fit for me. So I started on my search for a new photographer. Patken is a preferred vendor for my venue. I meet with them and booked on the spot. I liked their work and they gave me a great package deal.
Part of the package is an in studio engagement shoot however DH’s schedule and I never permitted for us to do it. We met with our photographer about a month before the wedding. I brought a portfolio with me of must take pics and from or meeting with him we were confident that he could deliver.
The day of the wedding he was on time. He was great. He took a lot of pictures. DH and I did not see each other before the ceremony. Since we got ready at the same hotel he was able to take pics of DH and all the guys before they went to the venue then came back up to take pics of me while I was getting ready. He also took pics of me and my girls together before we went to the venue. So after the ceremony he took pics of the bridal party together as well as family pics and the two of us together. He was great and easy to work with. He was funny and worked very well with my other vendors. I can’t wait to see the pics. I’m confident that they came out great.
I received my pro pics about 6 weeks after the wedding and I love them! They came out great and I posted some in my album.

Videographer – GT Modern Creations A+ (for now)
I found GT through my research on LIW. They are a couple that works together. I loved their work from the trailers I saw. I met with a few videographers but they did not have everything I was looking for. DH and I met with GT. We had a great meeting. So we booked shortly after the meeting. The package was great price and it came with 2 videographers.
The day of the wedding they were on time to the hotel. They were great. They took shots of all my accessories. They filmed both of us getting ready. During the reception they were not in the way so my guests never knew they were there. I can’t wait to see my trailer and I will definitely post it when I get it. They also worked together with my other vendors especially my photographer.

I received my video trailer about 6 weeks after the wedding and it is so beautiful! They captured every moment. I can't wait to see the full video.

DOC – Above & Beyond Ryan – A++++
I wanted a DOC but wasn’t sure if it was in my budget and if DH would agree. I started looking for a DOC but never booked one. I waited till the 2013 bridal shower because I knew that was one of the prizes. I won the 5 hour package with Above & Beyond Events. I had met with Leane form Above & Beyond before. So I contacted her to let her know that I won the 5 hour package and they still had my date available. Leane had a family event the weekend of my wedding so Ryan took over. She was great from beginning to end. She responded to all my emails at a reasonable time. I met with her the weekend before the wedding and I was confident that she would be great the day of. She was very detailed.
The day of the wedding she showed up on time and was ready to work. She made sure we stayed on our time schedule. She also worked very well with all my vendors. She was very hands on. She had a solution for everything. When I thought I forgot something she already had it. She had an emergency kit that had everything. We needed double sided tape for the Jr BM dress straps and she had it. She gave my sister something to put in her shoes so that the peep toe wouldn't rub against her toes and hurt them. During the ceremony my nephew was crying. She took him from my mother and took him inside. She made sure DH and I sat down to eat in our suite during cocktail hour. She was absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend her. I added 2 extra hours to the package so she was there until we settled down at the reception.

Make-up – Reginald Raphael – A+++
Reginald and I went to high school together. Due to social networking we kept in touch. I saw his work on instagram and knew I wanted to book him. I did a trial just to see what I wanted my make-up to be like the day of. And the trial looked great. I didn’t even want to wash my face that night…lol.
The day of the wedding he was great. He did my make-up, my mother and some of the girls in my bridal party. He stayed for the wedding and when I changed into my second dress he gave me a whole new look. He helped with everything and worked well with all my vendors. He does make-up for all types of events. He loves what he does and is very good at it. If anyone is interested FM me and I’ll send you his contact info. Hair – Beauty by Laine – A+++
I was not sure who was going to do my hair for the wedding. Charlaine (Laine) is my nephew’s god mother. She does my sister’s hair and always does a great job. I was confident that she would do a great job with my hair for the wedding and she did. She slept at the hotel so she was able to start my hair early. We did not do a trial. I just showed her the hair style I wanted and she did it. My hair looked good. She also stayed during the wedding. When I changed into my second dress she changed my hairstyle. She worked very well with my MUA. They worked as a team. She can be found on instagram – username: beautybylaine.

Officiant – Rev. Rudy Tufaro – A+
He did DH’s cousin’s wedding last year. He did a great job. So I scheduled to meet with him. The meeting went well. He asked questions about how we met and about our relationship to personalize the ceremony. Shortly after booking he sent me a draft of the whole ceremony. The ceremony was personalized. Day of the wedding he did a great job. Our ceremony was very personalized; you would have thought that he knew us since we started dating.

DJ – MMI Music Mixed Intelligently – A
Music is very important to us because DH and 4 other people in his family are DJs. They do some private events but they do more club parties. He also has a lot of DJ friends. I chose not to have any of them play at my wedding because I much rather them be guests at the wedding than have to work.
We are Haitian and wanted to make sure we got a dj that could play everything including Haitian music. He brought a Haitian dj with him. So we had 2 djs. The music was good. All my guests had a good time. The dance floor was packed. Part of my package included a monogram gobo. I designed it and sent it to him. The design came out great. He also handed out party giveaways such as cha chas, hats, etc.

Flowers by B*rtons – A++
I shopped around before booking with B*rtons. They gave me the best price and saw my vision. They always responded to my emails and answered any questions I had. They were easy to work with. A few days before the wedding I went in to see the sample centerpiece and it was exactly what I wanted. All the bouquets were beautiful the day of the wedding. When I saw them I got teary eyed. My CP was beautiful. My guests and staff at VYC raved about how beautiful they were. They also made me a beautiful wishing tree. Everything was delivered on time and there were no issues.

Limo Lancelot – A++
Rob was great from the beginning. He gave us a great price and he was very personable. We booked the Inifiniti limo. He contacted me 2 weeks before the wedding to let me know that he just got the 2013 Escalade and he would do a free upgrade if we wanted it. We took it of course…lol! We wanted an antique just for pictures. A few days before the wedding he called me to let me know that the antique broke down and if it would not be ready in time for my wedding he would send the Bentley Flying Spur. Although I didn’t want the Bentley Flying Spur at first at that point it was not that serious so I was okay with it. The day of the wedding our limo came early. We did a drop off and pick up. So they took the groom and the men to the venue first then came back to pick me up with my ladies. The antique was not fixed by our wedding so he sent the Bentley Flying Spur. It arrived after the ceremony. And we used it for our pictures.
We were also going to get a town car to take us back to the hotel after the wedding. A few days before the wedding while we were finalizing the details for the day of I asked him if we could use it to take us to the airport instead. He said if we do that he will send us a stretch limo. The morning when we were leaving for our honeymoon the limo was on time and provided good service.



Groom's cake – Marcie’s Cake Creation A++
Marcie is wonderful. I was referred to her by another LIW bride. I have used her services for my sister’s baby shower and my nephew’s Christening. Her cakes are amazing. They look good and taste amazing. I wanted to surprise my husband with a surprise cake. He is a dj so I wanted the cake to be a turntable with headphones and a microphone. I sent her a picture of what I wanted and she delivered. The cake looked amazing. She is very personable and great to communicate with. She can be contacted on FB: Marcie’s Cake Creations.


Shoes – Victoria’s Secret A / Shoe clip – Ebay A
I wanted royal blue shoes to match my color scheme and I wanted it to have bling. I could not find shoes I loved. I saw these shoes online from Victoria Secret that matched what I was looking for except it didn’t have the bling. I usually order shoes from them so I know how they run in size. I was very happy when I received them in the mail.
I then started to search for the right shoe clip. I looked on etsy, Amazon and eBay. I found the perfect one on ebay. They went well with my shoes. I was very satisfied. I was concerned that the clip would bother/ hurt my toe the day of the wedding. But it did not. I wore my shoes for most of the day. I changed into flats about 1 ½ hour before the reception ended.







Tuxes – Feldman & Esquire Lynbrook, NY – A+
We went to look for tuxes about 2 months before the wedding. We made a list of places we were going to visit. We ended up going with the first place we went to visit. They gave us a great price and DH got his tux for free. We had 4 GMs, 2 Jr GMs, BM, and my father rented his tux from them as well. One of our Jr GMs lives in FL so all I had to do was get is measurements and give the info them. There were no issues when they went to pick up the tuxes and everyone looked handsome.

MOB dress & Bride DOJ Totally Yours in Bellmore – A+
My mother is very picky and it was so difficult for her to find a dress she loved. We went to a few places in LI, NYC and Brooklyn but she never really found anything she loved. Finally 5 months before the wedding I was determined to find her a dress. One Saturday afternoon we decided to start again on the search. We went to Totally Yours and she finally found her dress. It’s a boutique with a wide selection. They were very personable and allowed her to try on different styles till she found the one she loved.

Invitations- Invitations By Emily (Etsy vendor) – A++
I thought about DIYing my invites but it would be too much work because of the amount of invites I needed. I wanted pocketfold. I search different vendors but they all seemed too pricey. I wanted nice invitations but did not want to pay too much. I found Invitations by Emily during my search on Esty. I contacted her about what I wanted and she was amazing from day one. She sent me samples and we communicated back and forth until she designed what I was looking for. She always responded to my messages in a timely manner and she was very professional. No matter how many times I asked her to make changes or add something she was never annoyed. My invites were beautiful and everyone loved them.





Venetian Yacht Club A+++++++++++++++
Thanks to VYC and their staff my day was amazing. From the moment I saw their website I feel in love. I went to visit them and loved it even more. I had booked another venue that was opposite of VYC and I was not in love with it as much as I was with VYC. I cancelled my contract and booked VYC. My BM, Felicia, was amazing from day one. I also worked with Daisy when I got closer to the day of the wedding, They are both amazing to work with and through the way they work with their brides it is evident that they love what they do. Felicia responded to every question I had and always responded to my emails.
The closer I got to the day the more they assured me that everything will go well and I would have a beautiful day.
They were hit hard by hurricane Sandy and they had to redo the patio. And I wanted to get married out on the patio. My BM assured me that the patio would be ready in time for my wedding and it was. However, I was not sure the weather would permit for me to have the ceremony outside. The days leading up to the wedding there was rain and it was very chilly (cold to me). Up until the morning of the wedding I still was not sure. Everyone told me it was nice out and we would be able to have the ceremony outside. It was a little windy but it was not too bad so we had our ceremony outside. It was beautiful. I opted not to go to cocktail hour (part of me wish I did so I could see most of the people and get my hellos out the way). I was told by my guests that cocktail hour was amazing. There was a lot of food and the food was very good.
We were able to see the reception room before everyone came up and it was beautiful; the view and the décor looked amazing. My guests are still raving about everything; the food, the service and the overall look of VYC. I met my Maitre D’, Mary, a few days before the wedding when I went to drop my items. She was great from that moment. She did a wonderful job the day of the wedding. She assured that everything ran smoothly. If there was an issue she handled the situation so that I did not have anything to worry about and I was able to enjoy my day. My bridal attendant, Lorainne, was great as well. She assured that we had everything we needed. She made sure that we ate and whenever our drinks were done she had another drink on ready for us on the table in a matter of seconds. She packed the rest of my dinner and dessert for us to take home. At the end of the day they both assured that everything I brought was packed for me to take back home. All the staff were absolutely amazing. I love them and I am so happy that I chose VYC. Maybe I can have my baby shower or another event there.





Cake - Francesco's Bakery A+
The cake was included with the venue. I met with them for a tasting a little over a month before the wedding. He discussed what was included and the upgrades. We designed the cake together. I wasn't sure of the filling and flavor I wanted. The week of the wedding I informed him of the flavor and fillings. I mailed him the ribbon and rhinestone wrap to put on the cake. The cake was exactly what I wanted. And it tasted good. All the guests raved about how good it was.





Hotel – Huntington Hilton A+
We stayed there for the weekend and the night after the wedding. I booked directly with reservation manager, Victoria. We communicated over the phone and via email. Everything went smoothly. It’s a nice hotel and my photographer was able to get some cool shots there.

Honeymoon- Paradisus Cancun A++++
Our honeymoon was wonderful. We went to Paradisus Cancun. We booked using cheapcaribbean.com. I shopped around with travel agents. However, cheap caribbean had the best prices. We were not particular about where we wanted to go. We just wanted an all-inclusive resort that was relaxing and nice. We got a great deal with Royal Service. The Royal Service was in a different building and it included butler service. There were no children allowed in that building.
From the moment we got there we were treated with royalty. Our butler took our bags to our room and had drinks ready for us. The resort was beautiful and the service was excellent. The food was great. The Royal Service included eating at the specialty restaurants within the resort at no extra cost; which was great. There was also a private pool with private cabanas. We went there almost every afternoon for a nice nap. The service at the pool was great. Our room was cleaned twice a day.
We also did activities outside of the resort. And went out of the resort almost every day. I went swimming with the dolphins which was a great experience. We went to the club Friday night and it was a lot of fun. The nightlife is nothing compared to the nightlife in NYC. There was also activities and things to do on the resort. There was a spa and gym onsite. There were different restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping stores within the resort.
We did not want to leave. We definitely plan to go back and recommend this resort to anyone. Everything was wonderful about our honeymoon.
