TWOTY Review!!! Chateau Le Mer, Liquid, After Hours Entertainment, Bridal Reflections, 4 Points Sheraton, LA Productions, LA Blossom, Flower Michele, Flowers by Brian, Mariann of Blue Daisy and more

*ALL PHOTOS ARE BY MARIANN OF BLUE DAISY UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED*

Ceremony and Reception Location – Chateau La Mer
Chateau La Mer was INCREDIBLE. The staff there treated Joey and I like royalty. From the moment we arrived for hair and make-up until the limo came to pick us up at the end of the night they waited on us hand and foot. They were on the ball all day long. Right before the ceremony started I got really nervous and Nick, the owner (I believe) came over to calm me down. He grabbed my hand and that made me feel so much better.

The room where we had our ceremony was so bright with natural light. It’s hard to find an RH that can make you feel like you are getting married outside, but the light and the windows in the room made it feel like an outdoor wedding – Even in January. That brings me to my next point.
Looking back at the pictures, you’d never know we ‘got married’ in the dead of winter… summer, fall, winter or spring, the backdrop there is fantastic for pictures. The long dock and the huge windows, which all look over the ocean, set such a romantic mood.

The food… my, my, my!!!! When Joey and I first sat down and we saw the wait staff taking everyone else’s order and tried to decide on what we wanted for dinner. No one ever came over to take our order and since we were so busy bustin’ a move on the dance floor, we never realized we didn’t actually order dinner. Anyway, when we were told to sit for dinner I was confused as to what we were going to eat since no one took our order…. Well, I should have known that they were going to hook us up. They brought out a HUGE silver platter with EVERYTHING on the menu for us. Fish, chicken, steak, vegetables, potato croquette’s (mmmm). Joey and I looked at each other in shock. We didn’t even get this at our own wedding! LOL. Anyway, I’m partially vegetarian (I know, I know) so I asked our waitress if I could have just a few potato croquettes and as I was getting ready to explain to her my weird obsession with meat, she was back with a plate of 6 or so potato croquettes. I was in heaven.

Band – liquid, the band
Now don’t jump down my throat, but I’m not really a ‘band’ girl. I’ve always loved DJ’s and always thought they were more entertaining. Well, that was until I heard Liquid play. There were times on the dance floor that I had to turn around and see who was playing because the band was incredible and brought just as much energy and excitement as the DJ did. They had a huge repertoire of songs and something for everyone there. The band members were charismatic and entertaining and interacted with the crowd, which was nice.

DJ – After Hours Entertainment
After Hours Entertainment was AWESOMEEEEEEE!!!! They had the crowd going from the minute the guests walked in. The MC was very energetic (which to me, a good MC is just as important as the music played). He had the crowd pumped up and definitely interacted well with the guests. They’d played great music and from what I can remember, the dance floor was never empty!

Photographer – Blue Daisy Weddings
What else can I possibly say about Mariann that hasn’t been said already? First and foremost, she is one of the sweetest and most genuine people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Her smile sets are your worries at ease. On top of that, she is probably one of the most talented photographers I’ve ever seen. Her photos OOZE with color and style. From every single one of her photograph’s you can tell exactly what her subject was thinking or feeling, and in my opinion, that isn’t easy to do.

My first meeting with Mariann was for the Boudoir photos she did for us TWOTY girls. The day of the shoot, I got lost and was super late and really frazzled. I felt so bad that I threw off her schedule and that I had to keep calling her for directions. She never once seemed agitated or annoyed, she literally talked me turn by turn to find her studio. I knew at that moment she was a saint, lol When I got there, I was 40 minutes late and she had another TWOTY girl coming in 20 minutes. She worked so quickly and efficiently so that we could get the most photos we could before the other girl showed up. I ended up getting to do 5 outfits and got a disk of over 50 something photos. The colors in the photos were insane! I was going for a French theme/vibe and she really caught the look in the photos. PS, Joey was thrilled to have two sets of ½ naked photos, LOL

The second time I worked with Mariann was the day of TWOTY. I hardly noticed she was around that day. In fact, when I got the disk of over 700 photos I was like “wow, how’d she get that shot…. I don’t even remember seeing her there…. I don’t remember that happening” And when we did posed photos, she gave great direction and told us exactly what she wanted. She’s quick at getting a great shot which is important because you don’t want to spend your wedding day just posing for photos and she is a MASTER at this.

When we were first chosen for TWOTY people asked “are you going to frame any photos from TWOTY?” and my answer was “no, I don’t want it to take away from our real wedding pictures.” Now my answer is “HELL YES!” those photos are nicer than my wedding photos!

The beautiful little Jennifer!

My super handsome hubby

The gorgeous MOH and BM, Andrea and Garret

HOLY HOTTIES!

The awesomely fun BM & GM, Jen and Tom

The fabulously awesome BM & GM, Lorraine and Joe

See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil

Oh those beautiful eyes!!!

She might be the sweetest, most lovely person I’ve ever met. ?

Videographer – Dynasty Studios
The Dynasty team was awesome. They were so friendly and smiling the entire day which was so nice to see. I feel the same way about them that I do about Mariann. When I saw the preview video I was shocked at all the footage they got b/c the were very unobtrusive and I never noticed them around or in anyone’s face, but they got fantastic video. Again, one of my biggest pet peeves is when a video guy or photographer are all up in your face and Mariann and the Dynasty team were anything but.

DOC – LA Productions
Laura, Laura, Laura!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could rewind to my wedding and hire this amazing woman! To say that she was prepared is an understatement. That lady had anything and everything and I’m convinced she could have planned that event single-handedly! As soon as she got there, she introduced herself to all of us and got on the ball immediately. Seeing who needed to eat, who needed a drink, if anyone forgot anything, if anyone needed advil, Tylenol, a breath mint…. You name it, she had it.

Then, when the boys went to get ready, all of them had some tux issue… a missing button, a loose vest, etc… she took out her sewing kit and fixed it ALL in about 15 minutes. I couldn’t believe it! Then when we got dressed, the hook and eye on my dress broke (must have been the burgerless big mac I had the day before ;) ) and she was right there sewing the dress together in the back…

From that point on, she was just there to make sure I didn’t have to worry about anything. She made sure that I always had a drink, or that we were ok. It was such a pleasure to have her by my side all day. She didn’t stop smiling once and was so pleasant to talk to. She also had a few tricks up her sleeve. She gave the whole bridal party the cutest little gifts and decorated the dais for Joey and I. Her personal touches were so thoughtful!

I never really believed that a DOC was absolutely necessary but after seeing how many situations Laura saved/prevented that day, I’m now a believer.

Here is Laura helping us get ready

Laura saving the day by sewing the dress together!

Some of Laura’s personal touches to the dais

Bridal Gown and Bridal Party Dresses – Bridal Reflections
Bridal Reflections really hooked the girls up with awesome dresses! When we went in for our first meeting we told the lady helping us that we wanted something fun and fabulous for the ceremony dress and something sexy and different for the reception. Well, I’m pretty sure they hit the nail on the head with both dresses. I felt like a movie star in the Ines di Santo ceremony dress… I would have NEVER chose something like that for my own wedding b/c I was looking for something a bit more traditional, so it was so cool to be able to wear a totally different dress! The reception dress, by Ramon Kaveza, was super cool. It made me feel so sexy and Joey LOVED it. The alterations done on both dresses were impeccable… they took a sample size dress and fit it to me perfectly in about a week… I can’t say enough wonderful things about them.

The bridesmaids were able to pick out any bridesmaid dress they wanted. The only restriction they had was the color! They had so much fun trying on all those dresses!

Hairpins and Custom Jewelry for the Bride and Bridal Party – Thomas Knoell Designs
For those of you who have met with Thomas Knoell, you will totally understand me when I tell you that this man was put on this planet to make bridal jewelry. He is fantastic at what he does and his creations are like little works of art. You can see the fruits of his labor when you look at his pieces. Nothing is “thrown” together – everything is handmade. He’s in bridal magazines, his jewelry is on display in some of the most famous bridal salons in NY and anyone that knows fashion, knows his name. After seeing his work and all the raves about his jewelry, I went to see him for my own wedding DOJ. I thought I’d meet with a sales associate who would try to sell me the most expensive thing in the store…. Anyway, when I walked in, I was greeted by Thomas Knoell himself and I almost fell over. He was so nice and humble! I explained my dress to him and within 5 minutes, he NAILED it. The same happened when we went for TWOTY. We gave him some descriptions of the dresses and he put together the most incredible pieces for us to wear.

The morning of TWOTY it was like Christmas. We all ran to the table to see what he sent over and every time we opened a box we “ohhh’d” and “ahhh’d”. We knew the jewelry was going to be hot, but we had no idea it was going to be that hot!

Jewelry – Good Old Gold
Good old gold donated a beautiful necklace to TWOTY. It was a stunning white gold and diamond piece. I was able to wear it into the reception, but Ron quickly took it away and gave it to a lucky 2010er! I say, it’s better to have worn and lost than to never have worn it at all! HAHA!

Shoes for Bride and Bridal Party – Sandy’s Shoes
YAY for Sandy’s! Theu donated the most fabulous shoes for us to wear, AND, we got to keep them. The best part was that they were comfy and pretty, so we’ll all be able to wear them again.

Limo for Bride and Groom – Primo Limousine
Primo sent over an old Rolls Royce to take us from TWOTY to The 4 Points Sheraton. When we walked outside and saw the car we were so excited! We had never been in a car like that so we were dorkishly happy. The beautiful MOH, Andrea, and her kick @ss hubby hitched a ride with us and we had a great time on the drive over. The driver drove safely and was a gentleman, the car was immaculate… What more could you want?!

Lighting - World of Illumination
The uplighting in the reception room was done so well! It was just enough to put a really fun spin on the reception. It was really a nice addition!

Ceremony Florist – Florisan LLC
When Florisan learned that my dress was “feathery” they went above and beyond with the décor to fit the theme… It didn’t look overdone or gaudy, which can happen when you work with bling and feathers, lol I thought it looked like an elegant fantasy and really enhanced the already gorgeous ceremony room.

Receptions Florists – Flower Michele, Flowers by Brian, LA Blossom, Crystal Centerpieces - Crystal Willow Wedding Trees by Lisa Marie

All of the florists that participated in making the CP’s for the reception did an outstanding job. They all took it to the next level and really went for unique and funky designs that would be sure to catch anyone’s attention. There was everything from low CP’s to hanging CP’s and everything in between. Their choices of colors, design and artistic approach are truly incredible!

Florist/Bouquets – LA Blossom
OMG! The bouquets!!! These were one of my favorite things from TOWTY. Each bouquet had such a unique and personal touch. There were feathers and crystals and bo-k jewelry… the colors were stunning and the arrangements were perfect. She even matched the boutonnieres to the bo-k’s which I thought was genius. I’ve seen her work on LIW 100’s of times and she never fails to disappoint!

Cake – Cakes by Mona
MMMM! How freaking delicious was that cake!? I’m not a cake lover but I made sure to be in my seat when they served it. One bit was not enough for Joey and I.

I just started taking cake classes and I have to say, I have so much MORE respect for people who can make incredible creations with cake, fondant and icing. The detail on that cake was perfect… the color of the shells, the airbrushing of the fondant, the placement of the designs. It was impeccably done.

So awesome design and delicious cake, what else could you want?

Favors – Pippy’s Sweets(silver pail w/ drink mixes), Baskets Bellisimo(cupcakes), Great Occasions(chocolates), and The Sugar Chic (wedding cake cookie)

Whoever came up with the ingenious idea to make candy/cake/cookies as a wedding favor might be my most favorite person ever. As a wedding guest, who would NOT want more delicious food to take home after the wedding to eat the next day? Especially when they are bride and groom cupcakes, wedding cake cookies or chocolate pieces in the shape of your theme? I’m not going to lie; joey and I went back to the hotel that night and ate every favor we were sent home with. I also loved the silver beach pail with drink mixes inside. Such a great way to incorporate the theme by Pippy's Sweets! They even had drink umbrellas tucked inside for me to use when I made the drink!

Hair – The Bridal Touch by Elena
Elena is such a sweet lady! She is funny and easy going and very easy to be around. She did my hair for the reception and it looked exactly like I had hoped. I showed her a picture and in 15 minutes she had it done knowing that I didn’t have a lot of time in between the ceremony and reception. She worked quickly and definitely knew what she was doing. She also did Lorraine’s hair, which looked fabulous.

Hair – Carolyn of Sabrina & Carolyn
Carolyn was not supposed to do my hair for the ceremony, but since Elena had a wedding that morning and was running late (LIW knew she had a wedding that morning), Carolyn stepped in and offered to do my hair. She is such a nice woman! She was spot on with the photo I showed her of the idea I had for the ceremony. I had three tracks of extensions that had to go in and she worked quickly and efficiently to get my hair to look perfect. I was very happy with the end result.

She also did Andrea and Jen’s hair which came out awesome. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Makeup – Makeup by Oksana
Oh Oksana…. How do I love thee, lol. I’m going to get straight to the point. I’ve never met a more talented make-up artist. She knows her stuff and I’m so glad I’ve trusted her numerous times to do my make-up (for TWOTY and other personal events). I know better than to tell her what I want because she is a genius at what she does. Her artistic ability and sense of fashion always leaves me a happy customer. She’s easy to talk to, and in every instance I’ve worked with her, she’s been professional. She’s been in the business for quite a few years and she knows her stuff! For TWOTY I didn’t say a word to her, I told her to do whatever she wanted and it came out awesome. She also did Lorraine’s make-up and she looked like a hot mamma!!!

Makeup – A More Fabulous You
She did Andrea and Jen’s make-up and they both looked HOT! Unfortunately, I didn’t have the pleasure of working with her directly, so I can’t give a firsthand account, however, both Jen and Andrea had nothing but great things to say about their experience with her. They told me that she was friendly and she did exactly what the girls asked in terms of what style make-up they wanted.

Music for the Ceremony – Harpist Janet King
I thought the harp was a great addition to the ceremony. It really helped set a romantic, peaceful tone and I think everyone liked it. I would have never thought to add a harpist to the ceremony, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Invitations – nictamdesigns
STUNNING. That is all I can say about those invitations…. They were so elegant and pretty… it made me wish I had done a beach theme for my wedding. They were simple, yet, they made a statement.

Calligraphy – EZ Calligraphy
The calligraphy on the envelopes was gorgeous! Michelle really did an awesome job! I spoke to her a few times during my wedding planning process and she was a doll each and every time. I think her work is a good representation of her!!

Officiant – Alison Caiola, Wedding Minister
Alison was an absolute doll! She was a pleasure to work with. The first time Joey and I met with her, we sat in her living room and just laughed and talked for an hour. She has such a bubbly personality and you can tell she truly loves what she does. She takes each wedding ceremony she performs and truly personalizes it to the couple which I think is so special. She asked us so many great questions and even asked us to do some individual homework so that she could get to know us better. I thought that was so cool because after all the talking and communicating we did with her, it didn’t fell like a stranger was ‘marrying’ us. She’s incredibly talented at what she does!

Photobooth – NYC Photobooth
I loved the photobooth! Joey and I secretly wanted one at our wedding but just couldn’t cough up the money for it so it was fun that we got to play around in it at TWOTY. Every time I walked passed it there were people in there having a blast! I say, anything that creates that much fun at a wedding is a must have! Also, they posted all the pics online after TWOTY so your guests can purchase pictures they like or may have lost the night of your wedding… also, as a bride and groom, you can see all the photobooth pictures that were taken the night of your wedding!

Our photo from the photobooth

Menus – Eleven 18 Design Studio
Weren’t those menus gorgeous!? Talk about creative and intricate designs. I think they spoke for themselves and Eleven 18 Design Studio! There is nothing they can’t do.

Programs & Unity Candle – Elite Affairs, LLC
We were fortunate enough to be able to take that beautiful unity candle home. It was so pretty and well made. It definitely was a nice addition to the ceremony.

The programs were also gorgeous. They were very simple and elegant -- a theme I’m very fond of! ;)

Aisle Runner – Customized Wedding Creations
The aisle runner was so pretty. It was understated and didn’t take away from the décor, but it added a little definitely added that little something extra.

Table Numbers – Bleu Diamond Events
The table numbers were very nicely done! Check out their website for all of their incredible designs.

Petal Cones - Bleu Diamond Events
The petal cones were so dainty and pretty. I thought they were a nice addition to the ceremony.

Cry Packs for Ceremony - Bleu Diamond Events
The cry packs came out awesome. They fit in with the color scheme perfectly and were very nicely done.

Tuxedos – Bonaventure Tuxedo
Joey had nothing but great things to say about Bonaventure. He said that the salesman that helped him was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. He got Joey measured and suited up in less than a half hour. Joey said they were very easy to work with and super accommodating with his schedule. The other groomsman had the same things to say.

I don’t know about you, but I thought the men looked pretty damn hot!

Trumpets – Royal Brass
I thought the trumpets were such a nice touch! It made the wedding feel grand and fabulous! Who wouldn’t want trumpets to play every time they walked in the room?!

Dance Lessons for Bride and Groom – Starlight Ballroom Dance Studio
Thank goodness for Starlight! If it were not for them, Joey and I would have danced like junior high kids at the 8th grade dance. In just 4 short lessons they taught us a whole routine. We were not easy students, either. We kept messing up and forgetting the steps and the staff at starlight were so patient with us and worked really hard with us until we had it down. Bless their hearts!!!

Cocktail Hour Music – Shan Kenner Wedding Guitarist
I didn’t make it to the cocktail hour, but I heard quite a few people talking about Shan while I was online to have my rings cleaned. They were saying that he was awesome and that they never thought about using a guitarist for the cocktail hour! Sounds to me like he may be gaining some new customers!

Jewelry Appraiser - The Jewelry Appraiser, Inc.
She was very knowledgeable about diamonds and from what I’ve heard, she left a lot of girls happy with what she had to say about their rings. She did a great job cleaning mine and gave me some great tips on how to take really good care of my set.

Suite for TWOTY Bride and Groom/ After Party Location – Four Points by Sheraton – Plainview
The Four Points Sheraton went above and beyond to make our stay incredible. The room was huge and gorgeous. We had a hot tub, along with a huge flat screen, a living room and a shower made for a king and queen. We felt like royalty there. They also supplied chocolate and champagne. It really was the perfect end to a perfect day!

To LIW:

Thank you so much for giving Joey and me the opportunity to take part in TWOTY. We had such an amazing time and will never ever forget the fun we had. The event was incredible and we can’t believe all of the wonderful things we got to walk away with… 700 plus photos, boudoir photos, tools, a beautiful necklace, a night in a honeymoon suite…. We feel very, very lucky!

To my 08er’s…
I can’t believe that our year is over and soon the 08 board will be locked and we will just be a memory here on LIW. I will never forget what this site has brought us… friendship, laughter, and of course, drama!

I truly care for each and every one of you and wish you the best in life and in all of your endeavors. We will forever be known as the girls who caused trouble, but I will always remember you all as the amazing people who were with me during one of the most special times in my life, and for that, I will never forget any of you.

Lots of love,

Yelley
