Photographers..Is a lighting assistant neccesary?
I am looking at several different companys for photography and was wondering if a lighting assistant is neccesary? Everyone I have spoken to says it saves alot of time having one. And I don`t want stand up lights everywhere for long periods of time at my reception. Please let me know what you think, and what one would cost. Thanks

It depends on who you use. Many photographers prefer to replicate indoor ideal perfect studio lighting on location instead of using the more natural lighting and simple on camera flash. I prefer not to use extra lighting at all. I haven't in more than ten years. You have to decide which style you prefer.

I always use double lighting, sometimes triple. It's a matter of personal prreference, but we never send a photographer out woithout a lighting assistant. The thing to do is compare similar photographic concepts side-by-side and then decide. Photographically, this is a very important decision. Ives from Photos of the HeartWelcome New Vendors
