reply to tip question

I know this happens a lot, but if the tip is calculated into the total cost, why isn`t it given to the employee who earned it? Technically, the meaning of the 'tip' is to show appreciation for going the extra mile, or for excellent service. To add that in before the service is even given, and to dictate how much the tip should be, doesn`t make sense! Sorry, just one of my pet peeves!!

It seems that Limo service is the only wedding vendor that includes an add-on tip in their total. Everyone should do what they feel is appropriate. Because this is usually a one time occassion, it's good to talk about what is expected. In Europe, the tip is included at restaurants and so they do not add to the the payment. When Europeans come here, it is appropriate to let them know our customs and what is expected. Imagine a waiter who does a good job expecting the usual gratuity but the European patron (who is happy with the service and thanks the waiter) doesn't leave anything.

I don't understand all this tip stuff???? You are paying for my services. If I wanted more money I'd raise my prices. An honest Thank You is quite sufficient. If you like the work I did then in the end you'll buy more photos. That's the best tip a photographer could ask for.
