Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I went to a wedding last month atNORTH RITZ CLUB
It was very beautiful. They were able to use the outside in addition to the cocktail hour room. May people have asked about the seating it seemed fine to me but that was probably because there were tables outside. If you couldn't go out there because of the weather than there may be a problem. I really didn't eat much of the CH food just because I was mingling. The gardens and the pond are very picturesque. The room was set up very nicely. I liked that the DJ had a sort of alcove to set up in. It left a lot of room on the dance floor. Someone always came around asking if we need anything to drink. Always a plus! Food was very good including the cake.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I finally have one to add!Went to a wedding last night at Giorgios. Very pretty place. Lots of chandeliers, so if you like that style, this place is for you.
We got there an hour early, thinking there was a bar to hang out at. We couldn't find one there. We had to stand in this little tiny room along with everyone else who got there early.
Cocktail hour was great. Room was large enough for everyone, PLENTY of food. We all loved the pasta bar - the vodka sauce was soooo good! Be careful though, all our friends stuffed themselves at CH and had no room for dinner.
For dinner I had the penne carbonara and FH had the chateau briand. Both very good. The room was very nicely laid out and perfect for the 150 they had.
The cake looked good and tasted pretty good too. They also had pastries which were okay.
Overall, it was one of the better weddings I have been to. As a guest, no complaints. Except that the room was freezing. On the dance floor moving, it was okay. But sitting, even FH complained he was cold. And he's never cold!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I was recently at the east wind:Bar - drinks were excellent and there was no waiting.
Service - friendly and excellent..
CH - nice...Brie in phyllo - great! Presentation of salads especially nice, hot food was ok. My only complaint might be that there could have been more selections.
Main course - stuffed shrimp, very good..even ate the vegetables.
Cake was from the Rolling Pin - delicious and the coffee was nice and hot which is rare at these big events..
Has anyone been to the Bellport CC, Venetian Yacht Club or Hamlet Willow Creek lately?????

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
This is a great thread and I think we should def revive it
Please be forewarned that I am very picky and I do not mean to offend anyone in any way - but this post would be pointless if we weren't honest, right
I have not been to too many weddings in NY, but here goes:
Villa Lombardis (July 2001, Sat or Sun afternoon - can't remember) - very pretty place, wonderful coctail hour. Drank quite a bit and remember nothing about the main dinner
. I do not know what room we were in for the reception but in my memory it was kind of dark (and it was a beautiful sunny day). The ceremony was there too and it was very beautiful. A-East Wind (Sat night, July 2000). The wedding I went to was in the Country Gardens building (I think that's what it's called - it's the smaller building in the front). I love how the CH is in the separate little building with lots of windows. Very pretty and CH was great. On a nice day it's beautiful to walk through the garden area to get to the main reception room (if you use the Country Gardens room). But be forewarned - in the rain, it would not be a fun walk from the CH to the reception. I was not at all impressed with the dinner itself - just thought it was kind of bland and 'industrial' if that makes any sense. But I know a lot of ppl love it, and this is JUST me. B+
Westbury Manor - (Sat night, June 2006) - coctail hour was very crowded (was supposed to be outside but it poured). CH food was good though. Dinner was really delicious - everyone loved it. This bride had almost all her invites respond 'yes' though, and it was VERY crowded in the reception room (don't know what room it was). Like you could hardly pull out your chair to get into your seat. But of course that was very specific to their wedding and would not happen with the normal amount of 'no's'! A-
Bridgewaters (South St Seaport, NYC - Sat night, June 2006) - VERY nice place, and I believe very pricy. Food was truly outstanding - really fantastic. Place is absolutely beautiful. I was not personally a fan of how the ceremony took place in the same room as CH, which took place in the same room as dinner (I don't recall how it worked, but the ceremony area was closed off by I think curtains or some type of removable wall). It was a pain in the butt to get to, just as far as parking, paying NYC prices, and walking to the place in heels, so consider that for guests. But the views of the Brooklyn Bridge are unbeatable. I'll give it an A- but definitely an A+ for food.
Keep em comin ladies - let's hear the good and the bad. Constructive criticism is a good thing

my wedding was at the Hamlet willow creek last month and was phenominal. While we did nbnot get to eat very much at CH, my guests raved about the food and the service. We did have dinner and it was exceptional. Not a single complaint, highly recommended.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I went to a wedding at Glen Island on Friday August 31st 2007....This will be long because I paid attention to EVERY detail because I knew I had to report back. So here I go... There was someone in the driveway outside the parking lot stopping cars, asking what event we were attending, and directing us to the venue. I was impressed by this. The place is gorgeous. The drive up to the Hall is breathtaking...the windows are glowing....its almost magical. As we entered the beautiful lobby, there was a waiter directing us to our room, a nice touch because so many halls are disorganized. We entered the cocktail hour room, the room was a little narrow, but there were enough seats for mostly everyone, just enough to encourage a little mingling, however because it was such a tight space, if you didnt have a seat and were tired of standing it made it hard to eat, while holding cameras, purses...etc. The cocktail hour was great. I tried something from each station, the only thing I didn't like were the lambchops. I wasn't surprised by the great food. My highschool prom was also at Glen Island and the buffet was great. However, I knew that during a wedding there would also be a seated dinner selection, not available for proms. When we entered the ballroom, our first course was already on the table. The room was a little too chilly, eventhough it was summer. I would recommend that if holding an event there, you request for them to lower the air conditioning until people start dancing because there was a notable difference in temperature between the ballroom and the cocktail hour room. The first course, consisted of a salmon appetizer, salad, croutons, caviar on toast, and a vegetable paste (I think it was made of asparagus). As soon, as we sat down there were white gloved waiters pouring wine in our glasses. I also noticed, there were orchids on each place setting. I couldn't enjoy the salad, as there was no dressing on it, nor was it offered to me. The salmon appetizer was delicious, so were the croutons. I didn't try the caviar and didn't care for the paste. We were given 3 choices for dinner: chicken, steak, and fish. The chicken breast was stuffed with ham and served on a bed of mashed potatoes and mango sauce. The sauce was great, so was the mash. The chicken was a little bland even with the sauce. Perhaps because the pieces were cut so thick, it was not able to absorb the seasoning. The fish sounded great, I wish I would have ordered that instead. Everyone else at my table had steak. Eventhough they ordered well done, they were all served rare. My friend who had steak said it was a little bland. As I mentioned before, I had my prom here....so I thought that dessert would more than make up for it. However, the bride and groom had the plated dessert, instead of the vienesse we had at prom. This would have been fine, except that I didn't really eat much of the dinner, and the dessert portions were small IMHO (I'm a foody lol). It consisted of a mixed fruit tart which was ok, a warm brownie with a scoop of icecream which was great but was tiny, and a piece of cheese cake a little bigger than an oreo cookie. For their cake, they had a yellow cake with pineapple filling. No one at my table ate it, as it was a tad dry. We got a few drinks from the bar, and the bartender was great. The drinks weren't watered down at all (which is hard to find at these halls). Overall, that place beautiful and has great service, I would talk to someone about meal preferences/options...and would definitely add the vienesse...oh and I would also add frozen drinks, the bartender wasn't making any daquiris, so I assumed it was because it would be an additional item.Welcome New Vendors
