Nicole Richie reveals more on Hilton split

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Nicole Richie says it's unlikely she will kiss and make up with former reality TV co-star and ex-best friend Paris Hilton in the near future.

Fox TV has canceled the fourth season of 'The Simple Life' citing scheduling problems. However, there is widespread speculation Fox's decision had more to do with its feuding stars than anything else.

In the November issue of Jane magazine, Richie reveals the rift with Hilton has actually been going on longer than reported, MTV.com reported Thursday.

'We really haven't been friends in probably about two years,' she said.

Hilton turned the end of their friendship into a media event, appearing on a host of talk shows last April and telling print interviews the friendship was kaput. Richie, however, remained silent as Hilton aired their dirty laundry.

'I know that Paris loves to talk about it and that stuff, but that's just not my style,' she told Jane.

As for a reconciliation between the former friends, Richie said: 'No, not at this point.

As any mother would be, Goldie Hawn was growing concerned as her normally glamorous and curvaceous daughter, Kate Hudson, started shrinking before her eyes. But when photos of Kate, 26, recently surfaced — including on the cover of the Oct. 10 issue of Star — looking too thin, a source tells Star that Goldie, 60, confronted Kate.

'[Goldie] told her to put on some weight,' a source close to Hudson told Star, who added, that at the time, Kate was 'eating practically nothing.'

KATE LISTENS UP!
But as recent photos of Kate show, she must have taken her mother's advice to heart. The 26-year-old actress is now looking healthy and fit in a red bikini on the beach in Hawaii — where she is filming a new movie You and Me and Dupree — and playing in a pool with son Ryder, 19 months.

After comparing photos of a frightfully thin Kate to more recent shots, weight specialist Dr. Stuart Fisher tells Star that Kate definitely looks healthier. 'She looks like she put on about 5-10 pounds,' says Dr. Fisher, who has never treated Hudson.

'[It's] a definite improvement.' (Reps for Goldie and Kate deny the actress confronted her daughter about her weight.)

EASY COME, EASY GO
Weight flux is nothing new for the 5'6' Hudson, who is married to rocker Chris Robinson, 38. Kate, who weighed an estimated 110 pounds, put on an estimated 75 pounds by the time she gave birth to Ryder Russell Robinson, now 21 months, in January 2004. By May 2004, she had lost all of the additional weight, thanks to working out three hours a day — and was showing off her six-pack abs while on the set of The Skeleton Key.

But over the summer, the actress looked like skin and bones. One weight specialist told Star she looked like she dropped another 15 pounds, bringing her down to a bony 105 pounds. 'I don't think Kate realizes how skinny she had gotten,' says the source.

THE LATEST TREND
Apparently, Kate's not the only mom who's not eating. Dr. Alexander Sackeyfio, a psychiatrist with Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak, Mich., who specializes in treating women for eating disorders associated with child-birth, sees a connection between new mothers wanting to be super-skinny and Hollywood's constant search for thinspiration.

'When actresses get pregnant, people expect them to get thin right away and go back to work,' says Sackeyfio, who has never treated Hudson. 'There's always the pressure from society to be pleasing — that hasn't changed.'

Thankfully, Kate didn't give in to the pressure and decided to listen to her famous mother. According to the source, Hudson promised to make a concerted effort to eat properly — and try to put on some weight. Mission accomplished, mom!

On an ornate card that was sent out with the invites, the couple writes, 'While we celebrate the richness of life and all the circumstances that have blessed us in career and love, we are mindful of those who are suffering greatly as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

'The best gift you could give us is a donation to any of the organizations helping the stricken citizens of New Orleans.'
