NEW YORK - Jessica Simpson says the relentless gossip about her marriage to Nick Lachey drove her to visit a therapist.

'Yes I have,' the singer-actress tells Teen People in its December-January issue, on newsstands Friday. 'I respect knowledge of the psyche. I would be a therapist if I weren't an entertainer.'

Jessica, 25, posed for the cover of the magazine with her sister, Ashlee. Both talk about the difficult challenges of the past year.

Jessica, who had a starring role in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' movie this summer, has been the queen of the tabloids this year — much of the coverage dissecting the marriage of the 'Newlyweds' couple. The pair have denied persistent rumors of a split.

'Hopefully mine and Nick's story will continue for the rest of our lives, like what we vowed, through sickness and in health.'

Ashlee, 21, recently released her second album, 'I Am Me,' and it debuted at the top of the charts. But she has still had to live down her embarrassing lip-synch disaster on 'Saturday Night Live' last year.

'Yeah I messed up in front of everybody,' she says. (Last month, Ashlee revisited the scene of her musical flub, performing on 'SNL' — really live, this time.)

However, she adds: 'I love to sing. It's a joy to me. I don't do it for anyone else — I do it for me.

'I've had to learn that my voice is the most important one. Otherwise, I'll drown in what everyone wants me to be.'

CHRISTINA AGUILERA and her fiancé, JORDAN BRATMAN, did it in Sin City ... their joint bachelorette and bachelor party, that is. The two hit the celeb fave, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, this past weekend for a blowout that included a Halloween party on Saturday. Aguilera vamped it up as a nurse with Bratman as her doctor. About 40 friends -- dressed as everything from DONATELLA VERSACE to VENUS WILLIAMS -- joined them for dinner at Nobu and then it was late-night drinking and dancing at the hotel‘s Body English nightclub. And what would a night at the Hard Rock be without some bowling? The party continued until six in the morning with bowling in Aguilera and Bratman‘s penthouse. And what was included in the gift baskets given to Aguilera‘s six bridesmaids from the Love Jones lingerie shop? Some literature, of course: Hot Sex: How to Do It and Positions of the Day.

As for the couple‘s big day? I‘m told they‘re getting hitched a lot sooner than most people think.


Another Hollywood couple have broken up. I‘m told 'The West Wing' star KRISTIN CHENOWETH and the show‘s creator, Hollywood script master AARON SORKIN, are over. The two were first spotted getting cozy in January. Reps for both declined to comment.

JENNIFER ANISTON has a killer body. But I‘m happy to report she‘s one of the few Hollywood actresses who actually eats. While in New York City promoting her new psychological thriller, ‘Derailed,‘ she hit the top restaurants, including Babo, Il Mulino, and Nobu 57. And after the movie‘s premiere party at Compass on Sunday, when she was decked out in a $150,000 worth of Fred Leighton jewels, she hit Il Cantinori. Yummy.

The stars keep coming for their Glamour. MARY J. BLIGE has just been added to Glamour magazine‘s star-studded Women of the Year gala happening Wednesday night in New York City. The songstress performs with a New Orleans children‘s chorus. Hosted by MTV‘s SuCHIN PAK, a rep for the monthly mag tells me that MARISA TOMEI will present an award to wrap-dress diva, DIANE von FURSTENBERG. Glamour scored quite a coup with presenter BROOKE SHIELDS. Little did they know that Shields would be pregnant at the time of their annual shindig and that it would be her first red carpet extravaganza since I broke the Shields news this past Thursday.

She was able to keep her wedding top secret, but it looks like DEMI MOORE isn‘t keeping the location -- her Beverly Hills home -- just to herself. I‘m told that Hollywood‘s hottest newlywed is in talks to have her house featured in an upcoming issue of Architectural Digest. Moore‘s rep says there is 'no deal in place' for a Digest spread.

Add PINK to the celebs fighting for the right for gay men and lesbians to marry. She‘s the latest addition to the lineup of wedROCK, the upcoming Hollywood concert benefiting the Freedom to Marry gay rights group. Already announced is ERASURE‘s ANDY BELL, who shared some of his thoughts with me via e-mail as he bounced around the world promoting his first solo album, Electric Blue:

MM: Why are you taking part in wedROCK?
AB: If it‘s good enough for ELTON and DAVID, it‘s good enough for anybody! What about all the divorce settlements though. Yikes!

MM: You recently said you want to work with BARBRA STREISAND. Which of her songs do you want to cover?
AB: One of the slow songs from Guilty.

MM: What‘s your next solo project?
AB: Perhaps a country and western album.

50 says he disagrees with West's infamous statement that ' George Bush doesn't care about black people,' proclaimed during a September telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims.

'I think people responded to it the best way they can,' 50 told ContactMusic.com. 'What Kanye West was saying, I don't know where that came from.'

Instead, 50 said, 'The New Orleans disaster was meant to happen. It was an act of God.'

It wouldn't be the first time 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, made comments that weren't flattering of West. In a September interview with MTV, 50 — while otherwise complimentary of the popular 'Gold Digger' rapper — said: 'I feel like Kanye West is successful because of me.'

Jennifer Lopez's Ex Drops Lawsuit

Jennifer Lopez's first husband, Ojani Noa, has dropped his lawsuit against her in which he claimed that she fired him as manager of her Southern California restaurant without cause.

Noa's lawyer, David deRubertis did not explain why he asked for the dismissal of the case 'with prejudice,' which would prevent his client from re-filing it, the BBC reports.

Noa, a waiter who wed the singer-actress in 1997 after the two met while he was on the job in Miami (the union lasted about a year), filed his lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court last December.

According to his legal papers, Noa left his position as manager of the Conga Room in Los Angeles in 2002 in order to run Lopez's new restaurant, Madres, in nearby Pasadena, at a salary of $1,000 a week – with the expectation that his paycheck would increase as the eatery became more successful.

CREDIT: WIREIMAGEThe terms of Noa's verbal agreement with Lopez, the suit stated, included a stipulation that she would not fire him 'without good cause or reason.'

For reasons not specified, Noa was let go six months after he started at Madres, which opened in April 2002. 'Mr. Noa tried to call Ms. Lopez to find out what prompted this sudden change of events. His calls went unreturned,' claimed his papers, which went on to say: 'She didn't even have the decency to explain why she had lied to lure him to accept a job that she did not plan on letting him keep in the first place.'

Lopez never commented publicly on the case, though Noa's legal papers quoted her as insisting that her ex was 'family' and that she would take care of him.

The romance between Kirsten Dunst and Jake Gyllenhaal finally appears to be hitting the skids.

'Jake is looking for a way out,' a source close to the Tinseltown couple tells Star People. 'He says he's getting tired of Kirsten's constant partying, and I think he regrets getting involved with her again.'

And Jake, who first dated her from late 2002 through July 2004, has killed Kirsten's idea of moving in together, the source says.

'They're definitely heading for a breakup. Jake is sick of hearing about Kirsten flirting with other guys.'

Making matters worse, Kirsten, 23, hasn't been returning Jake's phone calls while she's on a promotional tour for her movie Elizabethtown, the source says. When she finally did, it was at 4 a.m., leaving miffed Jake, 24, to tell her to go to bed already.

Then again, maybe Kirsten is pushing him away for a reason. Another source tells Star People, 'Kirsten seems to be seriously contemplating revisiting her relationship with Tobey Maguire [30]. Kirsten's been waxing nostalgic about Tobey, and I think she sees their reunion on Spider-Man 3 as a chance to see if there are still sparks.' Her rep denies she has the hots for Tobey, adding that they're 'just friends.'

Although they discreetly denied it in the early stages of their relationship, Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto are now a public couple.

Leto skipped the Audioslave after-party at Aer Saturday to meet La Lohan at Bungalow 8 (where Ashley Olsen joined them) to celebrate her impending 'TRL' No. 1, 'Confessions of a Broken Heart.' Pals confirm that they're ready to 'fess up to the attachment.

Having rowed their way through a veritable ocean of Aarons and Wilmers and Camerons and Scarletts to reach each other, we can only hope that the two find the happiness they deserve. At least until the ink dries on this page.

Kevin Federline is taking his licks from critics for his first single, 'Y'All Ain't Ready,' from his upcoming hip-hop CD, The Truth, due for release next year.

The track has been posted on the Web site of producer Disco D, and reactions have not been kind. 'Kanye West he's not,' opines the New York Post of former backup dancer Federline, 27, who also happens to be married to Britney Spears. 'He's not even Vanilla Ice.'

Against what the New York Daily News' Lowdown column calls 'a crude beat,' Federline – the father of three, including his son with Spears, Sean Preston Federline, born in September – says during the chorus of the song: 'Back then they called me K-Fed/ But you can call me Daddy instead.'

As the rap's refrain goes: 'Go ahead and say whatcha wanna/I'm gonna sell about 2 mil, oh, then I'm a goner ... I know you all wish you was in my position/Cause I keep gettin' in situations that you wish you was in, cousin ... Steppin' in this game and y'all ain't got a clue ... Getting anxious? Go take a peep/ I'm starrin' in your magazines now every day and week ... But maybe baby you can wait and see/ Until then all these Pavarottis followin' me.'

The Daily News suggests that Federline means to say 'paparazzi' instead of 'Pavarotti,' who is a famed opera singer. (Other Web sites say it's not a mistake, but Federline's nickname for the ever-present photographers.)

Still, claims the Post, the beats of the song stick in the ear – even if they're not terribly original – and the sound effects may remind you of a pinball machine, albeit one submerged in water.

If you’re wondering why the engagement of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is dragging on so long (Really, kids, what’s the hold up? We’re dying to catch the fake bouquet!), current tabloid speculation holds that Holmes’s father is checking and re-checking what must be the world’s most complicated prenuptial agreement:

Sources say they will, and according to one report, that’s why Cruise and his preggers fiancée are taking so long to get hitched. Holmes’s father, Martin, is a lawyer and is representing his daughter in the negotiations, reports the upcoming issue of The Star.

Martin Holmes “is playing hardball with the prenup negotiations,” according to the tab, which quotes a source as saying that Holmes wants to make sure that his daughter will receive “a lump sum payment in the millions if the marriage should dissolve before the five-year mark.”

Such terms are unusual for a prenup, which usually awards a spouse more money for a longer marriage, but, the source tells the mag: “The Holmes family would never tell Katie if they thought her marriage was doomed from the get-go, but they are pressuring her to hold out not only to protect her interests, but those of her child.”


Daddy might not approve of Katie’s premarital knocking-up (and overall involvement in the upcoming Union of the Damned), but he’s still got to make sure that if his little girl’s going to rent herself out as an alien incubator, she’s going to get above market price for the lease on her womb.

Katie Holmes’ forthcoming bundle of joy isn’t causing joy for everyone.
Nicole Kidman is said to be “devastated” by the news that her ex-hubby, Tom Cruise, is about to have his first biological child with fiancée Holmes.
And, although Cruise and Kidman are said to be in regular contact with one another, the buzz is that Kidman found out that he was an expecting dad from television.
“Nic learned about Tom and Katie’s baby the same way as everyone else — from the TV,” a friend of Kidman’s told Britain’s Grazia magazine. “She went shopping immediately after hearing the news to try and take her mind off it, but that just made things worse. She says people pointed at her, and everyone was whispering as soon as she turned her back. She’s taking it very hard.”
Kidman’s rep, when contacted by The Scoop, declined to comment on the story, dismissing it as “silliness.”
