Jake Gyllenhaal had a violent eruption on the set of “Jarhead,” going off-script and punching out a co-star.

In one scene from the movie about the 1991 Gulf War, Gyllenhaal’s character puts his rifle muzzle in another actor’s mouth.

“When I pulled it out, [I hit myself in the mouth and] I remember I looked down and saw that my tooth had come off,” Gyllenhaal told reporters while promoting the flick. “For some reason,” Gyllenhaal said, “I just got so angry that I had chipped my tooth ... and just started hitting him and we didn’t talk for a month after that.”

Director Sam Mendes said the actor just got lost in the moment. “It’s 115 degrees, you’re away from trees, cars, everything,” Mendes told the Calgary Sun. “You can’t hear anything because the wind’s blowing. You don’t have your clothes, your car, your girlfriend, anything. And I really think Jake forgot he was acting a lot of times.”

'Beverly Hills 90210' actress TORI SPELLING and husband CHARLIE SHANIAN are now officially over. The two, who have a prenuptial agreement, cited 'irreconcilable differences,' according to papers filed last week by Spelling's lawyers, in response to Shanian's petition. The two tied the knot in July 2004 at her expansive family home. She was 31 and her father, TV tycoon AARON SPELLING, walked her down the aisle. A reported 400 guests attended the lavish affair that cost a reported $1,700 a person. Tori is currently working on a Lifetime Television Movie

Kevin Federline is taking his licks from critics for his first single, 'Y'All Ain't Ready,' from his upcoming hip-hop CD, The Truth, due for release next year.

The track has been posted on the Web site of producer Disco D, and reactions have not been kind. 'Kanye West he's not,' opines the New York Post of former backup dancer Federline, 27, who also happens to be married to Britney Spears. 'He's not even Vanilla Ice.'

Against what the New York Daily News' Lowdown column calls 'a crude beat,' Federline – the father of three, including his son with Spears, Sean Preston Federline, born in September – says during the chorus of the song: 'Back then they called me K-Fed/ But you can call me Daddy instead.'

As the rap's refrain goes: 'Go ahead and say whatcha wanna/I'm gonna sell about 2 mil, oh, then I'm a goner ... I know you all wish you was in my position/Cause I keep gettin' in situations that you wish you was in, cousin ... Steppin' in this game and y'all ain't got a clue ... Getting anxious? Go take a peep/ I'm starrin' in your magazines now every day and week ... But maybe baby you can wait and see/ Until then all these Pavarottis followin' me.'

The Daily News suggests that Federline means to say 'paparazzi' instead of 'Pavarotti,' who is a famed opera singer. (Other Web sites say it's not a mistake, but Federline's nickname for the ever-present photographers.)

Still, claims the Post, the beats of the song stick in the ear – even if they're not terribly original – and the sound effects may remind you of a pinball machine, albeit one submerged in water.

Kelly Ripa is losing it! The morning TV talker is losing weight — dropping below 100lbs — and also losing her temper with on-air partner Regis Philbin.

Now her super-skinny frame and out-of-control behavior have execs deeply concerned. They fear the 35-year-old risks cracking up from both the stress of juggling motherhood with Live and her sitcom Hope & Faith and the strain of shedding so many pounds.

'There is definitely something going on with Kelly,' said an insider close to the chat show.

'She used to be so upbeat and sunny, a positive presence on the show, but now she often seems angry and defensive, especially with Regis. The tension on the set between them has gotten so thick lately that you could cut it with a knife!

'Kelly picks at virtually everything he says. Her banter with Regis used to be playful and teasing. Now it often seems nasty and mean-spirited.

'Sometimes she acts like she doesn't want to be on the show with Regis anymore... and he knows it.'

Another insider told The National Enquirer that Kelly recently launched a vicious attack on Regis. 'She's made it clear to the show bosses she's had it working alongside Regis,' said the insider. 'Saying he's old and forgetful is one thing, but saying he also turns off younger viewers is hitting below the belt.

'Regis is also smarting from a recent outburst. After he joked about her shooting a commercial for a detergent, saying she didn't do her own laundry, Kelly shot back, 'Excuse me, but I really fear you're suffering from dementia. I do!''
