Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hi, My name is Milly and I am new to this. I just got engaged on August 25th. We will start choosing a date by the end of this month. I have been too busy enjoying being engaged to worry about getting stressed. I am having a Hindu ceremony.I am sure I will have plenty of questions as I start the planning of this wedding. My friends and family would help but they do not know much about Hindu weddings. I kind of wish I would do it in Pakistan and have his family take care of it all.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Can you ladies name some LI mandip companies? I checked out Stylish Events and wanted to check out a few more places before I sign the contract. Also, have any of you guys used Stylish for center pieces as well?
I'm not sure if I should go to a florist for my cp's!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Kind of.I have regular saris that I took to stores on Hillside Avenue or in Hicksville that they sticthed the pleats for me. If you def want stiched pleats, don't do it online! You have to make sure the height/heals are proper before they stitch it...
I'd reccomend this only if you are the person wearing the sari. Once you stich a sari, only people your height can wear it.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
welcome heena..I think someone here used House of Dipali for Mandaps and it came out beautiful!!
I used a vendor from NJ for Mandaps and I was very particular with the type of mandap and the decorations and stuff..
most decorators have beautiful cp's and it might come out slightly cheaper as well.. see what they have to offer.. hth

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I need to get my butt into House of Dipali. I have very particular taste too. I need for it too look very elegant and clean...if that makes sense.Stylish Events is charging me $120 for my CP's and they are RENTAL... Which means if someone walks with one, I'll have an additiional charge! I think $10k for the total package. Is that good?
My fiance wants curly willows but, $120x40tables is a little too much for our budget!
Do you have pictures of your manip? I wanna see!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
getting married in the spring/summer can give you tons of options for flowers.. so work something out w/ your vendor..we got the mandap people to set it up and all.. then we asked decorators from this temple to come by and make it more traditional
check out house of dipali.. it's great! good luck!
eta: check out pa56's review in the Bride's Review and she's got some pics from her wedding as well.. i thought her mandap looked gorgeous!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I checked out House of Dipali and I am in love! They have some great stuff -- and the owner is so nice! For the ladies who have booked madaps, can you guys tell me roughly how much they cost? We want everything (ceremony, welcome table, seat covers etc.)
I just need to know the going rate to make sure they aren't high-balling...etc.
Thanks!!
Also, have any of you guys booked DJ Sharad for your wedding... Going on 3 weeks and he still hasn't sent me a quote!!!!!!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I've heard that DJ Shared is great. He is very popular and maybe thats why he's taking a long time to respond.Get back to him, and if he still doesnt respond maybe you should go with someone else.
