Can anyone that's used Sushmita Patel for hair and makeup please tell me your thoughts on her? Did she listen to you or just do whatever she thought was best? Also, does she provide jewelry or just makeup?

Hi ladies!!!!My FH is Bengali and I am hispanic. I want to wear a lehanga for the reception but I cant seem to find one that i really like. I want a champagne of a really nice gold or Ivory lehanga. When i come accross a color that i like its always mixed with another color. Do any of you have pics or any sites that i can go to? I already went to 74th street and they mostly have saris.TIA ladies

Have you tried Edison in NJ?? They seem to have a better selection than 74th street. Also Hicksville in Long Island.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hello ladies,It's been really quiet on the Desi board - so just wondering what everyone's upto. I'm getting married at the end of August - and had my bridal shower this past weekend - which was a ton of fun. Love how there are always some people buying stuff not on the registry! but wtvr - not many of those. Also - ordered FH's tux, both our rings, and did some honeymoon shopping yesterday

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
How do you handle people bringing uninvited guests to your wedding? My mom's friend invited her in-laws to my wedding and the invitations haven't even been sent out yet!
This seems to be a huge problem with my parents' generation in the indian community, at least in NJ. My brother got married 5 years ago and we had 5-7 (can't remember) univited guests show up - these are children and elderly parents of invited guests. It really is a problem!
I told my mom to give my number to every person that creates problems because I have no issues saying 'Oh Aunty, I would love to have your neighbor's cousin's son at my wedding but the reception hall will not allow any more people since we are at our maximum.'

Hey - I totally know this problem - we had it at our engagement party too - but i guess it depends on the relationship - if it's a family member or a really close family friend that you grew up with - you can't really say - don't bring so and so - and for those that are helping you with stuff - I'd be hesitant - and also depends on whether space is an issue - we're having our reception at TOTP - where space is never an issue - goodluck - all desis have this prob

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Soon2bMrsRP - space isn't an issue since we are not even inviting the maximum allowed for the reception hall. We're inviting 350 and the hall can hold up to 500. The issue is more common courtesy and the fact that I don't want strangers at my wedding. My parents have accepted it, but me and my fiance have not.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
What we are doing is counting everyone who RSVP, and telling the hall that we might expect more or less... Sometimes they let it slide if it isnt a big difference in the number of guests expected...So ladies, where are you guys going for your honeymoon :)
