Paging all Latin Brides
Hi Ladies,I see there are a few new Hispanic brides on the boards and thought it would be nice to start a greet and meet thread. IN NO WAY AM I TRYING TO DISCRIMINATE OTHERS. Just like some threads are started for Greek or Jewish brides, etc.......
I thought there would be a few things we would have in common that would be hard to get suggestions from others.
For example, my DJ is (FM for info) They cater to Classy Latino Weddings and Events.
For those with 'Pelo Malo', hee-hee-hee, I found a greta Dominican woman in Westbury. She works at Celi's Beauty Salon and her name is Leiny. FM me if you want more details.
We are getting married at Leonard's of Great Neck in September. This is us:
Good luck chicas and if I can help in any way please let me know

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Karina great idea!! I have seen new people on here but haven't had the time to read through all of the new ladies posts.. Nice to see new faces!!I don't have a pic of us on my home pc but here goes for us...
I am Wanda and FH is Carl.
My family is Panamanian/Ecuadorian.
Fh's is Cuban/Aruban/Dutch.
We are getting married at St Martha's in Uniondale OR Our Lady of Loretto in Hempstead. Depends on the priest in Uniondale long story... We are having a bi-lingual wedding.
We are having a set of god parents for each of us instead of the usual. I am changing things a bit to customize our 'Americanized' tastes as my mother calls it.
Reception will be held at Chateau Briand.
We are having an Ecuadorian band-'Proyeccion Latina' at the reception and if our DJ for our Eparty works out, we will use him for the wedding too. His company is Doochie Dee Productions and is Puerto Rican. If not we may go with Curly's.
Curly is your stylist going to you? My hair stylist works on Friday's and she would have to come to my house SUPER early and I don't want that.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hi -My name is Erika and I am getting married in October at the Chateau Briand. I am Puerto Rican and my FH is Ecuadorian. I've pretty much booked the major things except the limos, shoes, veil, hair and makeup, etc...
Just curious - how many people in your wedding party - is it just me or do we tend to have huge weddings - I have 18 including my FH and I. I just finished getting the last bridesmaid fitted so the dresses are ordered (macy's bridal in Manhasset).
Anyone have pics from their hair and makeup trials - I really need a good one...
Also where to go for shoes (wide width)...
What Latina traditions are you all incorporating into your weddings - it's very hard to find info on our wedding traditions and Latina Bride was a website but I think it's no longer working.....
So glad to hear from all of you

Hi Latina Girls! My name is Elena, and I am from Venezuela. My FH is a red haired american/british citizen born in Portugal and we are getting married at the Westbury Manor
About latino traditions, we are having the 'arras' (the silver coins), and we are also having a spanish reading (a Mario Benedetti poem). For the rest: sorry, no 'liguero' (garter) for me, no way
Good luck with your planning!
Elena

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hello Ladies:I'm Niya, my FI and I are both Puertorican and we're getting married next July at Leonard's.
I've pretty much have the major things done like:
Hall
Church
Photo
Video
DJ( our friend is Puertorican and he caters to all types of parties)
As for traditions I'm trying to come up with something, but I need a little help. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I would like my spanish speaking family to feel as much part of the ceremony as possible.
Happy Planning!!
Please share special things you are doing to celebrate your Latin heritage

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
I can relate with the HUGE bridal party!!
That is what my family wants and its not happening. I am having 5 females and 5 males. 4 males will be at the front with FH. The fifth male is walking my mom. Then will leave with the Maid of Honor who is my sister.I am having a bi-lingual wedding. I will say everything in Spanish and FH in English. The homily will be done in both languages. My programs will be tranlsated. For the readings: one willl be in English and the second in Spanish.
Here are some pictures. I am not a fan of J.Lo but her complexion is similar to mine. I also attached a link where I found the pictures.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
I created my Matron of Honor's program. Her wedding was also bi-lingual. If you are interested I can place the template on here or e-mail it to you.I also have a few poems in Spanish I have found. With Avesur's help and her findings too.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hi Latina Ladies that I love so much
I'm butting in with my very little piece of Latin
I'm born here, my Mom is Haitian, but my Dad is 1/2 Haitian, 1/2 Dominican.
Does that make me 1/4 or 1/8 Dominican?
I'm yet another Chateau Briand Bride, and just have a couple months left. I'm getting married May 31st, and Curly and Latina will be there.

I am going to Curly's hairdresser next week to get my hair done for e-pics. I also have the curly kinky hair
I'll post the pics when I get them back.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Yay, this thread i moving. I am so excited, LOL!!!I can relate to a large Bridal Party. Including Fi and I and FG and RB I have 20 in total
I am not having Padrinos or the monedas but I do want a bilingual flair. I'm not sure if my Priest will conduct the ceremont in Spanish or Englush for our Grandma's to follow along.
As far as Latin accents I think I want to hire a 'trio' to play the song I will be dancing w/ my dad. If anyone knows of an inexpensive one that would be great.
Pelo malo is the texture of my hair. I couldn't go to Maximus or any other salon b/c I need someone to be able to blow out my hair, LOL!!!!!

I can so relate to the crunchy hair feeling. It takes a good hand to get my hair blown out the way i want it, LOL!!I still haven't decided on a song I will dance with my dad. My mom is from El Salvador and my Dad is from Colombia so he's really into Tango. Maybe we'll dance one of those............

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Karina I will ask my mom if she knows anyone for you. Are you looking for a Mariachi band? I know she can get Ecuadorian bands that are kind of like mariachis but they have the Ecuadorian attire not Mexican.I will ask her anyway.
Can you send me your stylists info? Thanks!

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Does anyone have a picture of J-Lo's hair from I think the 1999 Academy award or oscars....She had on a black dress - kind of ballroom like and her hair was up and pulled back. She also had on great jewelry. If anyone can send me info on great hair places in either the Bronx, Manhattan or Queens, please let me know....
Also those of you who know the Ecuadorian bands - if you can send info on that as well - I'm thinking of having that as a surprise for my FH....
I'm so glad we're all on this Board...When are we going to start posting pics?
