WOW!!! There certainly a lot of use on this website!! Let's see. . .. . I was born in Brookyln. But my Mom is from Puerto Rico and my Dad is from Uruguay. and just like RVCPL my FH is 1/2 italian and 1/2 Jewish!!! We will be playing merengies (sp?), tangos, salsas, tarentellas (for the italians) and the Heva Negila (I know I didn't spell that right! for the jewish side) Our poor guests, their heads will be spinning!!!
I'll be dancing with my dad to MI Nina Bonita (Thanks to all of you who helped on that thread) BTW . . .does anyone know if it comes in half spanish and half english?? If not, I plan on translating it in the program for the non spanish speakers.

I would love to add a little more spanish flair to the wedding . . .I just don't know what . . .any suggestions?

Oh my God...you guys are taking me way back!

I live by Latin Quarter so I was always there Thursday night, Copa on Tuesdays and Moonlighting on Fridays...wow how time has gone. I looked so good from dancing so much...(sigh!)

Now...Caseys in Rockville Center on Fridays (or sleeping), Madison Hall on Saturdays (or sleeping) and of course 'by the water' (Long Beach) during the summer.

My friends and coworkers make fun of me! They say the 'Latin from Manhattan' is NO MORE!!! I've become a Long Island chick...

Any good Spanish clubs on 'the island'?

P&A- I was and still am looking for a trio. My parents' friends went to a Benefit for Colombia event a few weeks back and there was a performance from this duo that they loved. I have his number if you want but I am still looking for cheaper. They are charging me $350 for 45 minutes (cocktail hour).

Billysbride- If all else fails with my Trio search I have a pianist that is playing at my ceremony (being held at Leonard's) and he will also play his keyboard for the cocktail hour. He chages $200 for ceremony and cocktail hour. Let me know if you need anymore info. P.S I saw on the 04 board that you are getting seat covers. Good for you. They were charging me almost $6 each, I don't think so, LOL!!!!!

Misslinda- Welcome!!!! There are more of us than I thought. It's nice to see all of us are planning such nice weddings. I hope everyone posts pictures of the final outcome I think SOBE and MarcellaBella are the first ones up. I don't think Mi Nina Bonita comes in half english, half spanish

Sobe- Memories are alive and well for me. After reading this thread today I was talking to my FI and remebering when we saw Oro Solido at 30/30, LOL!!!!! 5 YEARS ago Time flies!!!!! We don't have the energy anymore to trek to the city EVERY weekend so we have found a pretty cool local Spanish club in Westbury called sambuca. We go there pretty often to get our Salsa on, LOL!!!!

30/30!! WOW Karina you just bought back memories!! Those were the days when I was a single momma!! And this place in BK I can't remember the name of it anymore but it was off of Myrtle Avenue and geez that was so long ago. I can drive there though! I still remember that much!!

BTW I have my mom looking into the trio for you. She said they range from $300+ the ones that she has heard of.
We hope to have a steel drum band at the cocktail hour. For FH's Caribbean side.

I don't remember who it was that posted about doing Spanish readings. But there is a 'Together for Life' in Spanish. My priest (we may go with another church) gave it to me. Some of the readings in Spanish sound so much better than they do in English. Really weird in the translation..

For those interested in tanning: I have a coupon for Beach Bumm Tanning. Its for one month unlimited tanning for $39. It worked perfectly for me since my party is about a month away!
This is for the basic tube beds that have the stronger bulbs for the face, the face machine, and two standing machines (basic ones).
I have gone twice and I already look darker. People at work thought I went to the beach!

Billysbride- I booked pianist Jim Lowe. He is very reasonbaly priced and I really liked his demo tape. He is doing my ceremony and cocktail hour. His #is 631-928-9830. He charges $125 for ceremony and $75 for cocktail hour. $200 total for 2 hours.

This post does bring me way back, esp Latin Quarter and Moonlighting. I cannot bring FH there now, even though he is not the jealous type, it makes him nuts when guys go 'pssst, psst, mami' when we walk around He cannot get over that is how some guys pick up chicks

I have to get him some dance lessons though, just the basics as my tias are planning on making him dance at the wedding and I dont want him to be embarrassed. Anyone know of any good places?

P&A- The Duo I called was 'Duo Sentimental'. Rafael Blandon, 631-374-0645. He quoted me $300 for 45-50 minutes.

I also called the trio that plays at this restaurant called 'La Pequena Colombia' in Flushing, Queens on Sundays. They quoted me about $350 for 45 minutes. Sorry, I misplaced the number but if you go on Sunday's you can hear them live or just call the restaurant and they will give you their number.
